public transport :

- The Hammersmith & City Line to Wood Lane and a 1 minute walk.

- Come out of the station and turn right, cross Wood lane at the pedestrian crossing and you will see TV Centre in front of you. - The Central Line to White City and a 3 minute walk.

- Come out of the station and turn left, cross Wood Lane at the second pedestrian crossing you come to and you will see TV Centre in front of you.

- The Overground to Shepherds Bush and a 10 minute walk.

- Come out of the station and cross the bus concourse. Turn right and walk through Westfield staying outside, you will go up some steps or a small hill, keep going past some restaurants on the right and a plant wall on the left. Eventually you will come to some steps, go down them and turn right onto Wood Lane. Cross the road and keep walking, eventually TV Centre will be on your left.

- Bus routes 72, 95, 220, 228, 272, - get off at White City Bus Stop (which is by the tube station), followed by a 3 minute walk.

- Bus routes 31, 49, 148, 207, 237, 260, 316, 607, C1 all stop at White City Bus Station, followed by a 6 minute walk.

once at television centre :

- Walk towards the red building going past the restaurants on the right.

- The entrance to The Helios will be in front of you.

- Buzz for the concierge to let you into the building and ask for me in 623.

- Take a seat in reception and I’ll come to collect you :)

driving :

Head for parking in Westfield Shopping Centre which is well signed…

- Once inside Westfield follow the signs to John Lewis, The Square and Restaurants.

- You want to aim for the Home Quarter and Westfield Square on Level -2.

- Once on level -2 go through the doors to Westfield Square.

- Once outside bear right to walk under the arches, then veer left and you will see the red building which is Television Centre in front of you.

- A pedestrian crossing is to your right where you can cross Wood Lane.

- Aim ahead for the red building, walking past the restaurants on your right.

- The entrance to The Helios will be in front of you.

- Buzz for the concierge to let you into the building and ask for me in 623.

- Take a seat in reception and I’ll come to collect you :)

please note :

My studio is also my home and is a shoe free zone so I will ask you to kindly remove your footwear :)

preparation

what to wear :

Bring a change of outfit to your headshot photoshoot; it’s better to bring more than less for choice. We will review your wardrobe when you arrive. Please make sure everything is clean and crease free.

If you don’t feel that you have anything in your wardrobe go out and buy something new that makes you feel fabulous - we can always keep the tags on!

Solid colours without a pattern and in a simple design are best, I don’t recommend logos. Don’t worry about the seasonality either. The main rule is that you feel good wearing your outfit.

Think carefully about the impression you are hoping to make with your headshot photo. Do you need to think about brand colours? Do you need to coordinate with other team members so that your images together blend for your website?

Guys if you like the idea of a dark moodier shot you will need to bring a dark top.

Ladies I would suggest avoiding strappy tops because they can make you appear as if you have nothing on! Consider your underwear too - will your bra show through any of your wardrobe choices and should you bring spares in different colours?

jewellery :

I don’t recommend jewellery because it will distract from you, but a simple pair of earrings is fine. If however you have a signature piece which you always wear, do bring it and I will suggest some pictures with and some without.

glasses :

If you normally wear glasses, please do bring them along. If you would like some shots without them, I would suggest that you arrive not wearing them so that they haven't marked your nose. If you have more than one pair then bring them along too. I ask that they have been polished well, fingerprints show up in photos!

Keep it light and simple.

- I would recommend a light foundation, under eye concealer, and cover-up on any blemishes (but not too much as it could make them even more obvious). Set with a translucent powder if you have it, but keep it to a minimum. A little blusher is great for a healthy glow.

- If you like to wear eyeshadow use neutral browns, nothing too heavy, and it’s always good to shade in eyebrows and wear mascara.

- You are welcome to bring it all with you so that we can build it up if we need to.

- Alternatively, I can arrange a professional make-up artist to be here for you. Please ask for details.

hair :

If you are planning a haircut, I would allow it time to ‘settle down’ before your photo session. Practice styling in advance so you know you can get it just right on the day. If you wear your hair up practice this too and bring the things that you use to fix it. I can arrange for you to visit No 85 Salon, an excellent local hairdressers for a blow dry prior to the shoot. Allow an extra hour for this.

gents :

Gents, you are welcome to come unshaven so we can get a few rugged images, and then shave halfway through for a smarter look. Bring your razor if you wish; I have clean towels and well lit bathroom facilities.

other things :

Make sure you are feeling as good about yourself as possible - if that’s by going to the gym, eating healthily for a week or having a facial, then do those things to give yourself the best chance of liking what you see in your gallery.

Don’t forget to check that your eyebrows are groomed to your taste (tidy and not over plucked are my suggestions) and there are no hairs sticking out anywhere that you would rather not see them - noses and ears are the biggest culprits!

If your skin is oily, gently blot it with a tissue as you prepare for being in front of the camera. Don’t rub because that will make your skin red. Alternatively I have an anti-shine gel in my kit - if you aren’t wearing make-up please feel free to ask me for it.

It’s probably best not to have a big night out the evening before either!
