Luminus scooped the City & Guilds sponsored award by convincing judges that it was the company that can best demonstrate how, through well-adopted company values, stimulating and supportive workplaces and active development of all employees, it had

applied human and supporting resources to achieve commercial success.

Chan Abraham, Luminus Group Chief Executive said,

“We are delighted to have been recognised as the Employer of the Year at this year’s National Business Awards, Midlands Region.

We are continuously reviewing our working practices to ensure that Luminus continues to inspire our own people and other businesses in these challenging times.”

Luminus provides a comprehensive benefit package to employees, including flexible working, pension, gym membership, generous annual leave, life assurance, childcare vouchers, training, coaching and much more.

Staff Forum captures the Narnia-Prince Caspian theme

Inspiring change

The triumphant Luminus team

Luminus beats Council 7-1

As audiences flocked to cinemas worldwide to see the latest Narnia blockbuster, the monthly Staff Forum found a place of fresh inspiration by paralleling the Prince Caspian story with Luminus and others seeking to improve life in 21st century Britain. The Forum heard how Caspian was a dark story about HOPE, about a return to goodness, justice, honour and true faith, after centuries of social decay during which goodness had been corrupted. Staff, tenants and various other visitors

spoke of UK problems, including anti-social behaviour, knife crime and isolation in communities.

Against similar overwhelming odds, the children in the story act as messengers to assure the broken Narnians that the future they’re waiting for is reality, not myth. Together with Aslan and Caspian they bring hope and light, showing that, no matter how far we have strayed there is always a way back that we have to find and follow. Everyone cheered for Luminus, working with others, similarly to persevere for the health and wellbeing of communities.

Luminus went head to head against Huntingdonshire District Council at St Ivo Outdoor Football Pitch in a football fun day to raise money for Hunts Parent Carer Forum.

Over £600 was raised for the charity with Luminus winning by 7-1!

The gloomy weather didn’t lower spirits in any way and the pitch was surrounded by enthusiastic fans, including the ‘Luminette’ cheerleaders! The day was very well attended, an d there were a number of activities on offer including face painting, a ‘beat the goalie’ competition, an appearance by the Luminus mascot Edward the Bear and a barbeque.

Luminus held a ceremony to mark the transformation of Whitlocks, a derelict sheltered housing scheme in Trumpington, Cambridge into a superb housing development for key workers. The new £3.5 million development contains 44 state-of-the-art studio apartments, 35 for rent to key workers and 9 for low cost home ownership.
