Dene Language Teacher (for School Year 2013-2014)
Chalo School is seeking a candidate to fill the position of a Dene Language
Teacher.
Applicants must possess the following qualities:
Have a positive attitude
Have experience working with children
Be flexible
Be creative
Be personable
Get along well with children and adults
Be able to use technology and the Dene iPad App.
Be professional
Be willing to work in a Professional Learning Community
The successful candidate will work with students in small group settings for Dene
Language (and may work with some groups for math and reading). Applicants
must be confident in teaching the Dene Language. Speaking the language would
be an asset. Applicants must possess a grade 12 Dogwood certificate. College
courses would be considered an asset. Experience working with school age chil-
dren is essential.

Breakfast & Lunch Programs Cook
Reporting to the Director of Health & Wellness, the Breakfast & Lunch Programs Cook is re-
sponsible for food delivery duties that support the Fort Nelson First Nation Health & Wellness
Department. The successful candidate will deliver the programs when school is in session:
• Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.; breakfast and lunch served
• Tuesday and Thursday 7:15 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.; breakfast served
Primary duties and responsibilities include the delivery of nutritious meals programs to the stu-
dents of Chalo School. Plan menus in accordance with the Canadian Food Guide; order, pur-
chase, pick up and deliver supplies as is necessary to execute meals programs; prepare and
serve meals providing courteous service to students; execute cleanup of meals and kitchen fa-
cilities; organize, monitor, maintain, track and store food and supplies orders; process purchase
orders and invoices ensuring accuracy of data; organize, maintain, and complete paperwork;
assist in preparing reports; monitor and maintain meals programs budgets; track daily ex-
penses; maintain security of building keys and codes; other duties may be assigned as neces-
sary.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to work and maintain harmonious relationships with all students and staff
• Experience and/or training in cooking for large groups
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to understand and follow written guidelines, policies and procedures, laws and regula-
tions
• Successful completion of a criminal record check
• Access to transportation required
• Food Safe Certification
Desired Qualifications
All of the above, plus the following:
• Certificate in Culinary Arts
• Previous First Nation experience
Other Assets
• Experience in a similar organization and/or a similar role.

50 HB pencils (good quality) not mechanical (Please do not send the cute pencils with designs on them to
school; they do not sharpen well.)
5 white erasers
2 boxes of wax crayons
1 pair of scissors (good-quality, such as Fiskars) (Some scissors do not cut well and the children find them impossible to use.)
4 large glue sticks
1 box of washable felt markers (not fine-tipped ones)
1 ruler, 30 centimeter, unbreakable, clear-plastic
1 exercise book (1/2 plain, 1/2 interlined) Hilroy is a good brand
7 duo-tangs (not plastic) (1 red, 1 green, 1 blue, 1 orange, 1 black, 1 yellow, 1 turquoise)
(*I color co-ordinate duo-tangs for each subject area to help organize the children.)
3 boxes of Kleenex
1 binders-2inch
1 Extra pair of clothes in a plastic bag (to keep in cubby)
1 Rubbermaid or plastic container that will hold pencils, erasers, glue, crayons,
scissors, etc. This container must fit in the child’s desk. (Kids cannot see their supplies in pencil cases.)
1 large Ziploc bag.
1 pair of indoor running shoes (non-marking soles; Velcro fasteners if your child cannot tie yet)
1 extra pair of clothes in a plastic bag (to keep in cubby)
