Welcome to the next P & C Meeting : Tuesday 17th February , Common Room 7pm.

From the Principal… As we come to the end of the 2014 school year I would like to congratulate the staff and students on what has been

a highly successful year for students and staff.

Our Year 12 students have, as a cohort, achieved some excellent results in this year’s HSC, with many students I

have spoken to this morning speaking positively about getting into their chosen course at University or TAFE in 2015.

A significant number of students are looking forward to starting their apprenticeships in 2015 and all Year 12

students can be confident that they are leaving Wauchope High School better prepared for the challenges they set

themselves in coming years. Well done and best wishes for the future.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the staff at Wauchope High School who have not only welcomed me so

warmly this year but have proven that they are a highly professional, dedicated and passionate group of educators.

They have helped me find my way in a new school, challenged my thinking at times and taken on with gusto the

challenges I have set for them. Thank you and I look forward to exciting times ahead for our school.

In 2015 we will continue the message that in order to maximise student potential every student must be at school

every day and be in every lesson. I seek your full and ongoing support in assisting us to ensure that your child

achieves their full potential – better than their best.

We will be farewelling a number of staff in coming weeks and months and I will say more about each individual as

they leave us to take a new chapter in their lives. Mrs Joan Wilson has taken the decision not to return next year and

I would like to thank her for her many years of dedication as a science teacher at our school and for her extra work

on the Newsletter and in ensuring the success of presentation night to name just a few of the roles she freely

undertook. We wish her well in the future.

Best wishes for the holiday season and please use the time to relax and spend time with family and friends. Years 7,

11 and 12 will return to school on January 28 and Years 8, 9 and 10 on January 29. I look forward to everyone’s safe

return in 2015 and the start an exciting year for Wauchope High School.

Regards Glen Sawle

Legal Studies visit to gaol

It always makes a person a bit anxious if the think they are going to court and gaol, but for the 2015 HSC

Legal Studies class who recently visited Wauchope court house and then Kempsey gaol it was more of a

time to understand the legal implications and consequences of legal processes. The students watched a

few cases get resolved before listening to the Magistrate , Mr Hodgeson discuss his background and role

in the legal system. The visit to the gaol was informative with 2 “trustees “ talking about the path they took

to end up in the “big house”. All returned safely to school and vowed never to return to the gaol. Special

thanks go to Mel Jones, Mrs Thornton and Whitney Shaw for accompanying the students on the day.

Mr Houlahan, Legal Studies teacher.

Happy Year 12 students

who came to back for the

ATAR morning tea.

There was a general

feeling of students happy

with their results knowing

they have gained the

ATARs needed to get

into their courses at

many different

universities.
