DESCRIPTION

Many laser applications produce hazardous fumes that can have negative health effects on operators and potentially damage expensive equipment. Sentry Air Systems offers several different styles of source capture fume extractors that can be easily integrated into a variety of laser systems. These mounted and portable units are designed for particulate and gas extraction for applications such as laser cutting, laser welding, welding marking, laser engraving, and much more.

and some ventilation and fume extraction options.

Page 2: Hazards of Laser Fumes and Fume Extraction Recommendations

Particulate and gas released during laser applications are harmful to both the operator and the laser system itself. The inhalation of laser fumes can lead to long-term medical conditions and can cause expensive medical claims for employers.

Page 3: Hazards of Laser Fumes and Fume Extraction Recommendations

Depending on the target material, applying a laser beam may produce harmful, respirable fumes containing:

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

Hydrogen cyanide and benzene

Heavy metals

Formaldehyde and synthetic fibersHealth effects vary depending on the chemicals involved and range from acute irritation to long-term asthma or nervous

system damage.

Industrial Hygiene. Potential hazards associated with compressed gases, cryogenic materials, toxic and carcinogenic materials and noise should be considered. Adequate ventilation shall be installed to reduce noxious or potentially hazardous fumes and vapors, produced by laser welding, cutting and other target interactions, to levels below the appropriate threshold limit values, e.g., American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) threshold limit values (TLV's) or Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) permissible exposure limits (PEL's).

Here is an excerpt from OSHA’s Technical Manual regarding Laser Fumes [Section 3: Chapter 6, Subsection 2]

PROTECT YOUR LUNGS

Source-capture fume extraction equipment captures fumes at the source of emission, before they are able to escape into the general working environment.

We offer laser fume extraction units for particulate and gas filtration, depending on the application, including:

Laser cutting

Laser welding

Laser marking

Laser engraving

…and more!

Our comprehensive line of laser fume extractors includes a variety of configurations including:

Model 200 Mounted Sentry [Model # SS-200-MS]The Model 200 Mounted Sentry fume extractor is a small but powerful industrial air cleaner that can be mounted directly to a workbench, a hood, or even to enclosed machinery. This modular unit provides multiple mounting options, two inlet configurations [3” or 4” diameter], and can be a simple and effective addition for multiple brands and types of enclosed machinery that require fume extraction.

Model 200 Floor Sentry [Model # SS-200-FS]The Model 200 Floor Sentry is a lightweight and portable fume extractor that is engineered with a self-supportive flex arm for easy maneuvering and optimum source capture placement. This unit can be placed on the floor to free up much needed work space, or it can sit on the benchtop; the Floor Sentry’s small footprint takes up minimal workspace. The lightweight flex arm is designed to be placed right next to the source of fumes or particulate to capture them before they are able to escape into the working environment.

Model 300 Floor Sentry Double [Model # SS-300-FSD]The Model 300 Floor Sentry Double is designed to provide portable fume extraction to two operators simultaneously. Two flame-retardant, self-supportive flex arms provide equal suction at both inlets, which directs contaminants into the patented filtration system. This unit features heavy-duty casters for easy mobility and an infinitely-adjustable variable speed controller. Endcaps to plug inlet holes are available when use of only one arm is desired. Other optional features include a digital hour counter and quick change pre-filter.

Air Volume: Up to 175 CFM High; Down to 50 CFM Low (per arm) [Variable Speed Control standard on 115V; On/Off Toggle Switch standard on 220V]Filtration Media: HEPA; ASHRAE; ULPA; Activated Carbon; Specialty BlendedBase Unit Dimensions: 15.5” L x 13” W x 16.5” HElectrical: 115/1/60, 2 amps; 220/1/50, 0.75 amps
