Harrogate International Sunday Series (January - April) International chamber concert series Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year (Apr - Jul) International literary prize in partnership with libraries nationwide Harrogate International Festival (July) The Summer International Arts Festival for Yorkshire held throughout July Harrogate Children’s Festival (July) A unique Children’s Festival featuring arts, music, science & literature Harrogate Literature & Lecture Series (July) An exciting literature & lecture festival Harrogate Fringe Festival (July) Supporting a thriving local arts scene Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival (July) The world’s largest crime fiction festival Year-Round Engagement (January – December) A year round programme of community engagement, creative learning and advocacy presented year-round for a broad range of audiences: Musical Mums – weekly singing project for teenage parents and their babies, using music as a means of encouraging positive activity between mothers and babies. Global Villages – Half-term world music deliver across the rural areas of the District, targeted at mono-cultural and rural areas. Big Read – The Big Read project increases links across the region between libraries & reading groups, creating new readers. Little Read – Working with schools; providing support, training and opportunities to meet authors to support the National Curriculum & increase engagement in literacy in young people. Divas & Djs – annual programme of work to provide urban music opportunities for young people at risk of anti-social behaviour of offending, using accessible style of music and participation. Kids, Spies & Pis – using the theme of crime investigation to engage children and young people in reading, specifically reluctant readers. Reader in Residence – supports our ongoing literacy delivery and the Festival’s “You’re Booked” website to create a national hub for aspiring writers and readers. Young Musician in Residence – A programme of activity featuring live performance in unusual and unexpected places, working with local, young musicians and creating a platform for performance. Established in 1966, the Harrogate International Festivals has grown into one of the region’s leading cultural providers, attracting the best international, national and local artists to perform each year. The Festivals team works year-round to bring the finest performing arts, literature and education participation to Harrogate and Yorkshire and we could not do this without the invaluable contribution made by the Festival Friends. Giving to the Festivals the tax efficient way If you pay income tax, you can significantly increase the value of your donation to the Harrogate International Festivals by agreeing to Gift Aid your contribution – an extra 25p for every £1 you give, at no extra cost to you. Spreading your payments We can offer ways to spread your payments across the year by standing order – please contact the Festivals Office for further details.
