1. A Labor of Love for Harrahs New Orleans Employees Reaching Out

2. On November 13, 2013, volunteers from Harrahs New Orleans came together at Second Harvests warehouse to sort cans and packages of food 3. Its a labor of love we have undertaken several times a month since 2011. Once, we even sorted potatoes, salvaging the good ones and tossing the smelly, bad ones! 4. 149,895 pounds of food or 124,912 meals, and filled 341 volunteer shifts providing 997 hours of service. To date, we have have helped to process 5. And we dont just sort foodwe hold food drives at work to help replenish Second Harvests supplies 6. Last summer, we got creative and held a Dunk Tank fundraiser at a meeting for marketing colleagues from all over the country. 7. The Dunk Tank raised $3,100, enabling Second Harvest to supply 7,750 meals in our community. 8. 1 out of every 6 households in Louisiana is at risk of hunger. 9. Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana is leading the fight against hunger in south Louisiana through food distribution, education, advocacy and disaster response. 10. Second Harvest Food Bank distributes24 million pounds of food and other grocery items to 263,000 individuals every year. Thats the equivalent of 20 millionmeals to food insecure individuals and families. 11. For every $1 0 donated, Second Harvest Food Bank can provide 28meals to families and individuals in need across south Louisiana.94% of each dollar donated directly feeds the hungry.
