Visit of Great Dignitaries

Recognition of the college

The efforts of the college in the diverse fields with proper

spirit got national recognition when UGC bestowed on the

college a unique honour of "Centre with Potential for

Excellence". Our endeavor is to make individuals more

mature, responsible and socially aware.

APGC, a premier institute of higher education in Panipat

started its journey towards excellence in the year 1954

when Babu Jagjivan Ram Ji, the then Union Minister of

Communication inaugurated it with a sole aim of leading the

youth "From darkness unto Light". We dedicate this mega

achievement to all those who manage, run or constitute this

college, as well as our patrons and well-wishers.

During the IX plan period, the University Grants

Commission had introduced a scheme called "University

with Potential for Excellence" (UPE) to encourage selected

universities to reach world class standards in their chosen

domain(s). The commission also realised that some

colleges have also achieved better standards of teaching

and research by harnessing human and physical resources

in innovative ways. Recognizing the need to pay special

attention to such colleges, the commission introduced a

scheme during Xth plan called "College with Potential for

Excellence (CPE)". The purpose of the scheme was to

identify the colleges which have attained high standards in

teaching, research, extension activities and hold promise of

excellence. In response to the invitation of proposal by the

UGC through affiliating university, our college submitted the

detailed proposal to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.

which went through three stages of evaluation. In the first

stage Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra evaluated the

proposals submitted by the colleges affiliated to it and

recommended the proposals of deserved colleges to the

UGC.

In the second stage, the special committee on CPE

constituted by the UGC evaluated the recommended

proposals of colleges by all affiliating universities and

recommended only 260 colleges at National level.

In the final stage, only 149 colleges including our college

spreading over all states/union territories of India were

recommended for the award of CPE status by a standing

committee on CPE constituted by UGC.

The dedicated management, committed and qualified staff,

disciplined and diligent students deserved this

achievement, aspired it and ultimately the UGC recognized

and declared it. Heartiest congratulations to the citizens of

Panipat City and to all those who have the pride to be the

part of this great institution.
