The Zeal Foundation, Inc.“Educating Youth & Families for Improved Lives”

A Letter From the Executive Director:

Ms. Lauren D. Pitts, Fulbright Scholar, M.S, MFT. B.B.A

“I am a firm believer that we can truly achieve our heart's desire. We have the ability to defeat ourselves and others by how we think, what we say, do, and how we process the information before us. Our choices have lasting effects on our lives and on the lives of those connected to us and around us. How is what you are doing, feeling, thinking, saying today impacting your tomorrow? Do you help or hinder? Do you build up or tear down? Are you a person of integrity or does your word have little or no weight? Do your actions line up accordingly with what you say? Ignorance creates hardship and knowledge is power! Pay attention, listen attentively, be constantly observant and ask a lot of questions. Asking the right questions can open doors of opportunity for you. Dare to dream, be encouraged, and never ever give up.”

The Zeal Foundation’s mission is to create

systemic changes and sustainable

improvements, in the lives of the youth and their

families in Salem, New Jersey. We focus on state, and national impact. In addition, we strive to make contributions in

communities comparable to Salem through our

programs and services.

Mission Statement:

The Zeal Foundation’s strategic and shared vision is to serve as an agent of change

spearheading collaborative efforts to address the

academic, economic, and social challenges required to

revitalize Salem, NJ and similar communities globally, by equipping our youth and

their family members in living more positive, productive, and

prosperous lives.

Vision Statement:

Our Core Values:

Humanities: We are very serious about not allowing issues of age, disability, race, class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, spirituality, or ethnicity to impede our ability to add value to mankind.

Diversity: We are dedicated to engaging in the best practices that promote social justice and an environment that fosters diversity.

Systems Thinking: We emphasize the application of systems thinking in a relational context in the development and delivery of our programs and services.

Reunification:

We embrace the ideology that, “it takes a whole village to raise a child” and thus, creating a stable family unit may often warrant members of the community to step up to the challenge of aiding broken families by guiding them in taking appropriate measures where possible to reunify the nuclear family.

Our Core Values:

Revitalization:

We are committed to working collaboratively with stakeholders at every level to ensure the success of our youth is a shared priority.

Our Core Values:

Self Management Clinic: Provides participants with skills for increasing independence, personal control, and a sense of self-mastery through teaching skills for increasing self-control and self-esteem (such as self-appraisal, goal-setting, self-monitoring, and self-reinforcement).

Zeal Foundation Programs:

Empowerment Clinic: A structured mentoring program for high school aged youth, designed to create a culture where participants proactively support the development of one another. The mentoring will be delivered one on one and in peer teams.

The Listening Forum: Just because adolescents don’t have bills, doesn’t mean they don’t have problems, struggles, and challenges. This program is designed to create a platform for youth to come and express their views, feelings, and struggles without judgment or criticism.

Regeneration Clinic: This program brings together parents and their adolescents within a learning environment. Intensive, integrative components are designed to improve the educational and economic opportunities of the family.

Leadership Academies: A structured adolescent program to help participants become effective, authentic individuals and leaders. The program also assists in the progressive process of choosing education, training, and jobs that fit the participant’s interests and skills.
