Its hard to put into words what a dream-come-true it
is to be involved in world missions, but we are still
pinching ourselves to be sure were awake. Thank you
so much for investing in our lives and the Kingdom
work in Paraguay with your prayers, your finances,
and your encouragement. You are a part of everything
we do here!
One of our favorite parts of mission work is being the middle man, so to speak. We love itwhen a need of someone here is met by someone (usually far away), and we get to have apart in that. Most recently, this took place with a local pastor named Remigio.
Pastor Remigio is in his early 40's and lives a few towns away. He always seems to be atwhatever Christian function we're attending. We've passed him walking or riding his bicyclemore times than I can count, either attending pastoral meetings or church services, or outvisiting his people. We see him walking the bicycle sometimes because it's too wet or muddyto ride it, or because he has other people with him and they don't fit. How many times did wesay we wished we could buy the guy a motorcycle?
Recently, we found out about a program the Christian Motorcyclists Association has inoperation. They raise funds to provide needy Christian workers in various countries withmotorcycles. Is that a great idea, or WHAT? I picture them having rallies and such, with folksparticipating that will never meet Pastor Remigio or the people blessed by his ministry. So wefilled out an application for this pastor, held our breath, and HE WAS SELECTED!
The past couple of weeks, Ken and Sal havebeen running around with Pastor Remigio buyingthis motorcycle, getting all the needed paperwork, and helping him get his very first DRIVERSLICENSE! Next week, Sal is planning to teachhim to drive. We're very excited about thedifference the motorcycle will make in the life of
this dedicated man of God. Thank you, CMA, forgetting this pastor off that bicycle and onsomething with a little more get-up-and-go, andfor letting us be a part of it!
If you look really closely at the picture on the left, youll
notice a small white goalpost. Ken made two of these from PVC pipes,
for the students of Loma Clavel. We had taken them a ball, but they
were cramming sticks in the dirt for goalposts. We had some pipe lying
around the house that did the trick. Now when their recess time has
ended, they can easily pick up the goals and take them in the classroom,
so that they dont disappear overnight. We also did a school picture
project with them this month, taking a close-up shot of each childjustlike the ones you got in elementary school, but with the name of their
little school and the year at the bottom. School years here run February
to December, so it felt a little weird to write Year 2010 instead of Year 2010-11. We are printing a copy to give to each
family as a reminder of their childs school year, an accomplishment to be celebrated in a community where most have never
attended school. We also showed a short Christian cartoon, which had them glued to their chairs. The profesora told us that
most of them had not seen a tv, so projecting a show on the wall was quite exciting for them.
God bless you!
