THIS SPACE IS COMPLIMENTS OF THE FOUNDATION.
We're warming up the micro-scopes and will soon have 3 new hands-on stations in the visitor
center. The study of micro-fossils, volcanic ash, and sediment layers will help visitors understand how we try to date the fossils and why it is important. We also hope to get the Augmented Reality sandbox back up and running- better than ever. It turns out that our projector was defective, not the com-puter programming, so we should have even better projections onto the sand. The new Junior Ranger book continues to be devel-oped and updated, so kid visits to the park will be more than word searches and mazes. Next comes updating the 'wayside' signs, those fiberglass embedded signs on the Monument grounds. We'll be spending the winter working on the content and have the new signs produced in the spring. As always, if you want to volunteer and be a part of the changes- or the on-going programs- just let us know.

We are coming into the final weeks of
summer, hopefully this will bring some
cooler temps in the next few weeks. How-
ever we still have a huge potential for fire
with very dry fuels, so everyone needs to
be very careful with controlled burning.
We did send a Water Tender to the Corta
Fire south of Elko Nevada for a 8 day fire
deployment to assist on that wildland fire
incident.
With cooler temps on the horizon please
make sure your wood burning appliances
have clean chimneys and are ready for
operation.
With the generosity of anonymous donor
we will be putting into service an all-
terrain medical response vehicle, we
hope to be fully operational by October.
We also have been able to purchase a
trailer to be able to transport the vehicle
to the area of the medical incident, this
also was purchased with donated funds
from the community. We are very exited
to be able to access our patients in these
areas that have hindered our response
and delayed patient care for years. We
thank everyone that has donated to make
this project become a reality.

GOODING COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Gooding County Historical Society’s final 2019 Summer Speaker will be Denyee Matthews, CSI Anthrology Department, with the “Story of Food,” Sept 18th at 7p, Historical Museum on Euskadi Road, Gooding.
Where in the world did the plants we find on our plates come from? What were the people in the Neolithic Age like who domesticated wild varieties into wheat, corn, grapes, potatoes, chocolate, and vanilla? Professor Matthews will guide us on a tour of the world and tell the fascinating story of where our food originates, the domestication process (before & after), the biological consequences of a changing diet from wild foods, and ridiculous historical vignettes that will shock you!
See you there!

DONATIONS APPRECIATED - BY WED, SEPT 18TH
Boy oh boy, has it been HOT this year! Don’t forget before you start cleaning up your yards and trees before fall comes, it is always a good idea to check for burn bans and/or restrictions, and inform the fire dept. that you plan to burn, Fire Dept. # is 208-837-4455. Let’s all try to keep the safety and beauty of our town in mind, while staying on top of property upkeep. We also need to take into consideration that if the City workers can’t get through the alley ways to clean up weeds and such, then they can’t do their jobs.
Please take the time to check in at City Hall or with any member of P & Z before starting any repairs or home improvement projects, no matter how big or small. There’s nothing worse than being told to stop your project by the Building Inspector for not having a permit. Or being told that your completed project is in violation of City Code and has to be redone at owner’s expense.
Not sure why City Codes are important to fol-low? Come join Planning & Zoning and find out why, help keep our home town Beautiful.
The 2019 elections are just around the corner. Now is your chance to make a difference in our community, come join the City of Hagerman team!!!
Candidates for the city elected office are re-quired to file a Declaration of Candidacy speci-fying the office sought and affirming that the
individual is a qualified city elector, meaning: at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, the can-didate’s primary residence must be within the city, the address of the candidate’s voter regis-tration must match the residence address pro-vided on the candidate’s declaration, and the candidate must have resided in the city for at least 30 days prior to submitting their declara-tion.
The Declaration of Candidacy must be accom-panied by: (1) a non-refundable filing fee of $40 or (2) a Petition of Candidacy signed by at least five (5) qualified city electors with signa-tures verified by the county clerk’s office.
Declarations of Candidacy are available at City Hall, 191 North State St, Hagerman, Idaho.
The deadline for filling starts August 26th and ends September 6th 2019 (City Hall will be open until 5 p.m. on this day only).
Hagerman City Hall office hours are Monday through Friday, 9a - 12p and 1p – 4p. Any questions please call 208-837-6636.
Let’s have a safe and fun summer, supporting local business’s, and remembering to keep Hagerman Beautiful!!!

AAFS’s mission is to provide students a project-based learning experi-
ence in which we emphasize the importance of food safety, nutrition,
and careers in a real-world food production and processing science lab.
In 2018-19, AAFS had 89 students in the fall semester and 16 new re-
cruits joining 39 returning students for spring semester. A total of 58 students tested and
received the Idaho Food Handlers certification. This year, second year students will be
able to test for HACCP certification. This certification is sought by food manufacturing
employers.
Hello, I am Colton Dorchuck. For my senior project I am working with Chef Kirt Martin
