JUNE 11 • TUES. 6:00 PM ASTRONOMY 101 Learn to enjoy the night sky with little or no equipment. Learn about the starry sky. Michael Galvin, of the Muskegon Astronomical Society, will give a presentation on how to enjoy the night sky with little or no equipment. Find out how to use a star chart, learn to spot satellites, and hear about interesting things to look at this month. JUNE 18 • TUES. 3:00 PM ‘SPORT – SHIP DOG OF THE GREAT LAKES’ Exploring the Universe of Lake Michigan Sit back and enjoy listening to author Pamela Cameron read her picture book Sport: Ship Dog of the Great Lakes. Based on true events, the book follows the story of Sport: a puppy rescued by the crew of the Hyacinth. He became an instant crewmember and takes readers on a journey through America’s inland seas. Copies of the book will be available for $15 and a book signing will be available after the program. All ages. JUNE 22 • SAT. 2:00 PM HPL SOUND OF SUMMER SERIES Whiskey Charmers Do you enjoy music that reminds you of “riding through the desert with the top down?” This award-winning duo is back at Hackley Public Library with their unique style of alt-country music. JUNE 24, 25, 28, 29 • pre-register for a time slot HARRY POTTER ESCAPE ROOM “Nitwit! Oddment! Blubber! Tweak!” Step into the Astronomy Tower of Hogwarts and see if you and your group can outwit and out-think the shifting castle. You and your Housemates have 30 minutes to solve the puzzles, ciphers, and clues. If you can’t figure out the portrait’s password before time is up, a Prefect patrol might catch you out of your House after curfew! This program is designed for groups of all ages. However, at least one adult must be present in a group. Dressing up is strongly encouraged! Call 231-722-8014 to register for a time slot. Slots are filled first come first served. You may register up to 8 people in your group. If a group is less than 8, librarians may schedule another group with yours. JULY 24 • WED. 3:00 PM HOW TO DRAW YOUR DRAGON Don’t worry! These dragons won’t bite. Illustrator Corinne Roberts will give us all the best tips and tricks on how to draw our own dragons. This class works best for ages 5 and up; we strongly encourage adults to accompany younger children. Age 5+. JULY 29 • MON. 6:00 PM GLOW ZUMBA This class turns fitness into a party with glow sticks. Join us for an aerobic dance workout with Latin and international flavored music, lead by Paula Sieffert from Lakeshore Fitness Center. Registration opens 1 month before the class date. JULY 30 • TUES. 6:00 PM HPL SOUND OF SUMMER SERIES Ultimate Taste Band - This Muskegon band strives to continue the Motown legacy in Michigan. Encompassing a variety of music from the 70s & 80s, Funk, Classic Rock, pop, and R&B, this band will get you moving and wanting more! Experience the creation of Moon craters and the challenges involved in landing safely on the varied surface of the Moon. Join us for stories, songs, movement activities, and a craft! Ages 0-5 with a caregiver.

Hackley Public Library and the Muskegon Lighthouse are teaming up to host a

special storytime on Monday afternoons in July and August. We’ll enjoy listening

to stories outside and watching ships sail through the channel. Any children that

participate can stay to climb the lighthouse tower for free with the admission of an

adult. Visitors must be 3 feet tall to climb and sturdy shoes are recommended.

AUG 12 • MON. 5:30 PMMonthly Makers: RobotsBuild a glowing snail or beat the heat with a LEGO fan. Change the color of our Spheros or send them zipping around the room. You’re in charge of these robots! At this class, we’ll cover beginner through more advanced projects. Age 9+.

Come Sell-a-brate the beginning of August! Here’s your chance to turn your old toys, books, and games into fun and a little bit of spending money. Not sure what to sell? No worries!

We suggest old books, collectibles, stuffed animals, puzzles, and hand-made crafts. We also wouldn’t say no to baked goods or the traditional lemonade stand. Make sure you

don’t charge more than 50 cents per item!

Children run their own booths (adult help is recommended) and keep what they earn. The event will move to Friday, August 2 in the event of rain. Interested sellers should bring their own tables, chairs, or beach blankets to sell from as well as money to make change.

Registration is REQUIRED. Call 231-722-8014 to sign up.
