Considerations In general

• Success rate of the 1° and 2° call( 12,4 %) sligthly lower than in ICT calls in FP7 (13%).

• Germany, like in FP7,is first in number of proposals and retained grants (230 Milion E in2014-15).

• France has performed better than in FP7 both in participation (17,2% ) and in funding (15%), improving

from call 2014 to call 2015. Germany and UK are stable, while Italy and Spain have a loss of around 1 point.

• topics success rate is very diverse. In general highest score appear in topics with very specific objectives.

• Proposals quality has been very high in both calls. In mny topics the difference in score between first and last retained has been of 1-2 points. Proposal with very high score have not been funded.

• EU 12 contries have still low proposal presentation rate and low success rate.

• No success for the calls Pre Commercial Procurement (2 retained 2015), Public Procurement for Innovative solutions e ERANET Cofund (1 retained 2015).

• PMI participation has been high. In 2015 call 25,7% of the participants were PMI with success rates 11,3% and 10,2% in participation and funding


At the ITALIAN level • The amount of funding in the two calls has been 8,75 % of the total. In FP7 the percentage was 10 % of the total

CE budget.

• At topic level the % of retained budget wrt the totalxtopic is very differentiated. There seem to be a little prevalence in areas devoted to the development of new technologies and techniques for products and systems (e.g. micro-nano, TOLAE, smart systems integration).

• Italy is third in proposal coordination, this is better than in past programs but still low ( 9,8 %).

• It is relevant the participation, coordination and funding of academic institutions. This is a growing since trend since FP6 and it represents a key factor to mantain the national funding among the top 3/4 countries

• Italian participation is high in Research and Innovation Actions with success rate of 9,8%, less in Innovation Actions ( 14 % , european average 16,8%).

• Average contribution per italian participant in retained proposals ( ~ 370 k€) is lower than the other top european countries. This seems to confirm a less average amount of work and lower labour costs for the italian participants.

• PMI participation has been high. In the 2015 call 24,8% of participants were PMI, success rate in terms of participation has been 7,9% and in funding 5,9%. Lower percentages than the average values of the call.
