Truth shall spring out of the earth, and justice shall look down from heaven. -Psalm 85:12

THE PRESENCE OF GOD After the miracle of Jesus walking on water, the disciples exclaimed, “Truly, you are the Son of God” (Matthew 14:33). Most Christians will probably never experience such a dramatic miracle. Like Elijah, we await the manifestation of God in other moments. Perhaps the biggest challenge for the believer is to be constantly attuned to the possible presence of God in the everyday events of life. This is a stance that takes some people years to develop. Others seem to find the Lord easily in the simple things. As the week unfolds, let us look for the presence of God in the little things around us. Perhaps, like Elijah, we will be surprised at what we find. And, like the disciples, we can add our voice to the confession, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

AUTOMATIC BANK DRAFTING Each with his own gift, in proportion to the blessing

which the Lord, your God, has given to you. Deuteronomy 16:17

Giving is an act of prayer, offered in thanksgiving to a gracious God who has—in Christ—freely giving us all things. Join the 71 families who are using and loving this service to make their monthly contributions. You can rest assured that this service is safe. It is handled through our bank’s online banking system, which uses up to date security and anti-fraud verification systems. Forms are available at church as well as on our website for you to fill out, attach a voided check and return it to the church office by either placing it in a sealed envelope labeled “Automatic Bank Draft” and drop it in the collection at mass or mail it or bring it to our office.

SCHOOL BEGINS THIS WEEK Please keep all staff and students in your prayers

as another year of learning begins this week. Please be aware of the school zones while driving.

HOLY FAMILY’S BEREAVEMENT/HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

Holy Family's Bereavement/Hospitality Ministry has been active since 2012. This ministry provides meals/refreshments as

needed for our church parish. Most often we provide a meal for the immediate family (about 30 people) of a Holy Family

parishioner who has passed away, normally on the day of the funeral. We have also provided refreshments for receptions in the church parish and most recently meals for Fr. David during

his recuperation from knee surgery.

We have six (6) teams which are responsible for 2 months of each year with approximately 14 persons on each team.

Several of our teams have lost team members since 2012, so we are looking for new members. If you feel that this is a ministry you would like to be a part of, please contact Sue

Blanchard at 573-0919 or [email protected] you for your consideration.

.ATTENTION ALL PARISHIONERS If an adult “child” is still living at home over the age of 22, they should be registered independently from their parents. They should take on the responsibility of their own active faith life. As adult Catholics they should be involved in the ministry of “Stewardship: A Way of Life”, by practicing sharing their time, talent or treasure with Holy Family Parish. Each adult child, 23 years of age or older, is no longer listed as a registered parishioner under their parents information. They are now classified as “inactive” status and are no longer be “registered” parishioners of Holy Family Parish. If you have an adult child still living at home who is mentally or physically disabled and needs to remain as a dependent, we do understand. Please notify the church office at 383-1838. Any young adult living in this parish should contact the church office to officially register as a parishioner of Holy Family Church.

CONFESSIONS: Saturdays: 3:00 to 3:30 pm or any day by appointment. BAPTISMS: Couples should contact the parish office during pregnancy to register for a Baptism

Seminar (usually held every other month, even numbered months). Godparents also must attend a Baptism Seminar.

MATRIMONY: Couples must contact priest at least SIX months before making other arrangements. SICK CALLS: Parishioners are urged to contact priest to inform him of persons who are ill. SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK: Offered at daily Mass or privately to those

who are facing surgery or illness. Call the office. NEW PARISHIONERS: Are requested to contact the Parish Office to register as parishioners. ADORATION: Tuesday & Wednesday - 5:30 - 8:30 pm; Thursday & Friday - 9:00 am - 12 Noon

OUR MISSION STATEMENT Holy Family Parish is a loving, caring community of devoted and committed Catholic Christians. Our mission purpose is to spread and deepen the Kingdom of God among all people. Our aim is to carry out this mission through our strong tradition of faith and family, through a strong sacramental and liturgical life, through a total Catholic educational program, through a ministry to the social needs of the community and through evangelization.

SAINT TERESA BENEDICTA OF THE CROSS

“Come,” Edith gently whispered, taking her sister Rosa’s hand, “let us go for our people!” These were Edith Stein’s last words as the Nazis, enraged at the Dutch bishops’ condemnation of their genocide, took into custody all Catholic converts from Judaism. Born Jewish, but non-practicing from her teens, Edith’s search for truth led to a doctorate in philosophy, a brilliant career as professor and author and, finally, to the Autobiography of Saint Teresa of Ávila, which she read in one sitting, then declared, “That is the Truth!” Baptized on January 1, 1922, observed then as the feast of Jesus’ initiation into the covenant of Abraham, confirmed on February 2, the feast of Jesus’ Presentation in the Temple, Edith entered the cloistered Carmelites in Cologne, transferring to a convent in Holland when she realized that, because of the Nazi persecution of the Jews, her presence could imperil the safety of the other nuns. She died in the gas chambers of Auschwitz as a daughter of Israel and of the Church.—Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
