December’s Business After Hours (presented by First Common-wealth Bank) was also the Chamber’s Ugly Sweater Party! Over 100 Chamber members and Young Professional Group members converged on the SpringHill Suites by Marriott to celebrate the holidays, win prizes, enjoy food and drink, and network. Good Morning Greater Latrobe Radio Show Hosts David Martin (Chamber President) and Mike Dudurich hosted nearly 20 guests on the Chamber’s Annual “year in review” show on 1480 WCNS. The show can be heard LIVE every month on the first Friday. Due to the holidays, the next show will air on January 8, 2016.

The second anniversary ofthe re-branding of the GreaterLatrobe-Laurel Valley ChamberofCommercewascelebratedthismonthaspartoftheChamber’sfinalboardofdirectorsmeetingof 2015 at theSpringhill Suites.A holiday reception with newand outgoing board membersandGLLVpartnersfollowedthemeeting. 2015 marked a change in thephysical location for the GLLVoffices (and the opening of avisitor& resource center) froman obscure location in LatrobetoaprimespotalongRoute30.Therewasanamechange,alogochange, a change in attitude,a change in staff and a changein commitment to the cham-ber’sincreasedservicearea.The
21-person board is a volunteerorganization, made up of lead-ers frombusiness, industryandeducation, who have great in-terest and commitment to notonlyGreaterLatrobe,buttotheregion as well. Six new direc-tors and new executive leader-shipwillbeannouncedinJanu-aryanditwillmarkthebiggestchangeon the chamber’sboardinrecentyears. “One of the biggest chang-es we’ve seen from the GLLVChamberoverthe lastyearandone that has had the greatestimpactisthenewNeighborhoodVisitorandInformationCenter,”saidtheGLLV’snewViceChair-man Andrea Cuda. “It’s madethechambermorevisibleinthecommunity, it’s created a new
level of value for members inthatitoffersanadditionalinfor-mationoutletforourlocalbusi-nesses,andofcourseitservesasawelcomecentertovisitorsandresidentsinthearea.” Sitting on recent accomplish-ments,however,isn’tanoption.That’swhya strategicplanningsessionfor2016andbeyondwasheldinNovemberandthe“new”board will hit the ground run-ning when the calendar rollsover. At end end of the meeting,outgoing Board Chairman PaulPuleo(FirstNationalBank)pre-sentedChamberPresidentDavidMartinwithawoodenengravedplaque,for“Dedication above and beyond, Service to our Communities, and Commitment to our Chamber.”
Ifyouthought2015wasanexcitingyearfortheGreaterLatrobe -LaurelValleyChamberofCom-merce,2016willbebringingevenmoresurprises!We’llbebringingbackoldfavoritesforthepastyear,like Bowling for DARCee, the 2nd Annual Sport-ingClaysTournament,27thAnnualGolfClassic&Dinner Event, and 71st Annual Dinner & AwardsCelebration.WewillbecontinuingBusinessAfterHours (presented by First Commonwealth Bank)andtheChamberA.M.BreakfastSeries.Therewillbe excitingnew twistson community events likeSteelersFestatLatrobeandtheGreatAmericanBa-nanaSplitCelebration. There will also be several new concepts intro-
ducedin2016!Atthestartoftheyear,wewillbeannouncingChamberUniversity,acontinuinged-ucationprogramthatwillprovideChambermem-berswithFREEeducationalseminarsontopicsthataffectyourbusinessthemost. In partnershipwith First Commonwealth Bank,Saint Vincent College’sWomen in Business Club,LatrobeBPW,andWestmorelandCountyCommu-nityCollege,theChamberwillbeofferingaLadiesQuarterlyNetworkingSeries.
