THE BEGINNING

Gymcrew is a brand that embodies acrobatics. If you are

an acrobat, you understand that it is similar to being a

part of a fraternity. So when a group of acrobats get to-

gether with a vision for a brand that encompasses acro-

batics, Gymcrew is what you get.

It all started in Houston, TX with six friends enduring

long training days in the gym in the pursuit of their

Olympic dream. During the daily grind of training, they

often wondered why there was not a brand that captured

the environment and the culture of their sport. To the

general public, being an acrobat is just a neat trick or a

hobby. To everyone that does acrobatics, he or she knows

it’s a lifestyle. The thrill to flip, fly, and to overcome great

fear is what makes an acrobat an acrobat.

So Gymcrew founders Kerry Adderly, Cody Trobaugh,

David & Jamie Henderson, Mubarak & Taqiy Abdullah,

decided that it was up to the acrobats to step out and de-

liver acrobatics to the public. Even as they all departed to

their different colleges, their bond stayed true to

developing a brand that captured the true essence

of the sport. From their vision of developing fresh

clothing to establishing a grassroots acrobatics pro-

gram, Freestyle Acrobatics was born.

Gymcrew wants the public to get to know the cul-

ture of being an acrobat, and we invite acrobats from

all walks of life to revolutionize the sport. Gymcrew

wants your input because we feel it is important that

the acrobatic community voice be heard for our life-

style to be felt.

Just like the band of brothers that started the compa-

ny, Gymcrew would like everyone to come together

and be apart of something greater than themselves.

To be a member of a movement that you feel strong-

ly for and one that you feel positive in bringing oth-

ers along on the journey. Here at Gymcrew, “The

World is Our Playground”.

The thrill to fly high can only be

described one way, sheer fear and

excitement rolled into one. When

performing high flying tricks your

mind goes through a series of emo-

tions. At one moment you have

excitement that you will be flying

fifteen feet in the air and the next

moment you fear that if all goes

wrong, a fifteen foot drop could

seriously jeopardize your health.

It is the excitement and fear that

keeps you focused on the task at

hand. In my eyes, this mind-body

connection is what make acrobatics

so thrilling.

The Thrill

I represent both physiological and psychological as-

pect of sport through sculpting the human body.

Photographs, live models, experience, and imagina-

tion are tools that allow me to capture a moment in

time demonstrating the essence of the athlete inside

and out. I borrow from my experience in sports to

bring out relative emotion and specific gestures

through the surface of my figures. The accuracy in

anatomy aids me in modifying the forms to express

the value that athletics has taught me.
