Now what? The leaders of Guyton Chrisan Church have been dreaming about new possibilies in 2019. Please be in prayer for these excing new ministries already in progress: YOUTH PROGRAMS: Chris Walz has proven to be an excellent addion to the church staff! As Youth Director, he is dedicated to teaching our young people the basics of Chrisanity and the fundamentals of Chrisan life. Chris has a heart for keeping young people engaged and involved at church as they transion into adulthood. In 2019, Chris will be more acve in all of our children and youth programs. Please give Chris your support and encouragement as he works to serve our children and youth in this vital ministry. TRAIN DEPOT: I imagine not just a nice meeng hall, but also a unique venue for sharing our talents and the Gospel in song! The Guyton Depot already has a prominent place in downtown Guyton, and in the minds of its cizens. The Board of GCC has voted to turn the Depot into a modern, cost-efficient concert hall that is desned to be a great addion to this church and this community. The roof is already repaired and refinished. Please be in prayer for this project, and ask a church officer what you can do to make the dream a reality in 2019. VISIBILITY: Guyton Chrisan Church has a fantasc locaon! We are the only church visible from downtown Guyton. The sanctuary is an historic church building unlike any other. The old post office is now the church office, and the Depot will complete the campus. The Rock is a great youth building on plenty of land for developing worship and recreaon facilies. We need to con- sider signage, landscaping, and other visible elements to draw people to our services and visually e our diverse properes together in the eyes of our community. Working together, we can use these many blessings to grow our church and the Kingdom of God. REVIVAL! Please be in prayer for our upcoming Revival/Homecoming. We are planning four days of entertainment, worship and renewal February 28-March 3. (As fate would have it, this coincides with my anniversary date at Guyton Chrisan Church!) We hope to combine our giſts for music, preaching and hospitality in a way that will make a difference to our church and our community. There are many other excing ideas in the works, but these are the highlights for me. Thank you for your support and encouragement throughout this year. This is a great church, and I am eager to help more people discover this great church family. Yours in Christ, Pastor Joel

Coming Attractions Well, 2018 is in the history books. Now what?

The leaders of Guyton Christian Church have been dreaming about new possibilities in 2019. Please be in prayer for these exciting new ministries already in progress:

YOUTH PROGRAMS: Chris Walz has proven to be an excellent addition to the church staff! As Youth Director, he is dedicated to teaching our young people the basics of Christianity and the fundamentals of Christian life. Chris has a heart for keeping young people engaged and involved at church as they transition into adulthood. In 2019, Chris will be more active in all of our children and youth programs. Please give Chris your support and encouragement as he works to serve our children and youth in this vital ministry.

TRAIN DEPOT: I imagine not just a nice meeting hall, but also a unique venue for sharing our talents and the Gospel in song! The Guyton Depot already has a prominent place in downtown Guyton, and in the minds of its citizens. The Board of GCC has voted to turn the Depot into a modern, cost-efficient concert hall that is destined to be a great addition to this church and this community. The roof is already repaired and refinished. Please be in prayer for this project, and ask a church officer what you can do to make the dream a reality in 2019.

VISIBILITY: Guyton Christian Church has a fantastic location! We are the only church visible from downtown Guyton. The sanctuary is an historic church building unlike any other. The old post office is now the church office, and the Depot will complete the campus. The Rock is a great youth building on plenty of land for developing worship and recreation facilities. We need to con-sider signage, landscaping, and other visible elements to draw people to our services and visually tie our diverse properties together in the eyes of our community. Working together, we can use these many blessings to grow our church and the Kingdom of God.

REVIVAL! Please be in prayer for our upcoming Revival/Homecoming. We are planning four days of entertainment, worship and renewal February 28-March 3. (As fate would have it, this coincides with my anniversary date at Guyton Christian Church!) We hope to combine our gifts for music, preaching and hospitality in a way that will make a difference to our church and our community.

There are many other exciting ideas in the works, but these are the highlights for me. Thank you for your support and encouragement throughout this year. This is a great church, and I am eager to help more people discover this great church family.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Joel

My Father’s House has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? John 14:2 My Father’s House ministry generally meets once a quarter at 6:00 p.m., or other times depending on the program. Young adults of all abilities gather for a provided supper and social entertainment which includes a Valentine’s Dance, A Random Ingredient Cook-Off, and a Halloween carnival. They also join with other ministries for an annual prom and camps. Coming in February, they are planning a Country Western themed Karaoke Night. You may dress as a cowboy or a cowgirl or just country casual. Whatever your comfort level, come as you are! These young adults make hygiene care bags for The Fillin Station food pantry that include laundry detergent, tooth-paste and shampoo. Donations of items or monetary donations are greatly appreciated. My Father’s House also hosts a yearly awards banquet to honor the accomplishments of people diagnosed in the au-tism spectrum and with other physical disabilities. For the past few years, My Father’s House has partnered with G.A.P. and G.L.O.W. Ministries to fund scholarships for people with autism who are continuing their post-secondary education locally. Founded by Shaw Wilkerson around 2010 and assisted by his mother, Vicki Wilkerson, My Father’s House provides a valuable resource for families in Effingham County. My Father’s House provides social opportunities to people of all abilities. Come! My Father’s House has many rooms!

20 CHURCHES JOIN FORCES IN “LOVE ONE ANOTHER” SERVICE

SPRINGFIELD, GA (December 14, 2018) — Members and leaders

from some 20 churches in the Effingham County area inaugurated the

Christmas season Friday evening with more than 230 worshippers in

their first “Love One Another” celebration.

In what was perhaps the county’s largest joint gathering of Anglo and

African-American congregations, music was provided by 10 musicians from Guyton Christian

Church and the 15-member choir from Royal Temple Holiness Church. Youth from various

churches read the Christmas story between Christmas carols, prayers, poetry, and music

specials.

The service was held at Effingham Middle School. After the service, worshippers shared a

lavish “pot luck” spread of finger foods and desserts.

“Love One Another” is to be an ongoing effort to find common ground in service and worship

among diverse churches in Effingham County. It was coordinated by Gary Lewis, senior

pastor at First Baptist Church, Rincon.

Churches participating included River Church, Guyton Christian Church (DOC), Guyton

United Methodist Church, Mount Carmel Deliverance Center, Berryville Missionary Baptist

Church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Bethel AME Church, Mt. Hope Baptist Church,

Maritime Bethel, Bethel Lutheran, Royal Temple Holiness Church, Centerpoint Community

Church, The Baptist Church at Ebenezer, Oak Grove Church of Christ, Rincon First Christian

Church, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Rincon Church of God, Macedonia Missionary Baptist

Church, Tusculum Christian Church, and White Oak Baptist Church.

Organizers are hopeful that the celebration will become an annual event and involve even

more churches in the area.
