Features of the Project.

All bamboos are chemically treated and certified by IPIRTI, Bangalore.

The 1000 sft of Solar hut is a demo Bamboo house equipped with all the electronic equipments like TV, 2 Kiosks and four computers and light runs through solar energy. The Bamboo Solar hut is centrally integrated with BIPV cell in the centre of the house and 4 KV of Solar panel supplied and fixed on Bamboo Mat Corrugated Sheets (BMCS) by Tata BP Solar Ltd, Bangalore.

The different four Gazebos are different in design and different materials like, Bamboo mat Corrugated Sheets, Bamboo Mat Board and Ferro cement.

The 17 acres landscaping area have different types of plants, and the parking area.

7. Bamboo Gazebo, Bamboo Bridge and Bamboo Toilet block for Delhi Development Authority, University of Delhi and Bio-Diversity Foundation at Yamuna Bio- Diversity Park at Wazirabad, N. Delhi.

Project Brief:

This project is located at the North of Delhi for rejuvenating the biodiversity of Yamuna river basin. All the structures are constructed by using bamboo available from Bangalore market and the skills of local craftsman.

The two important factors contributing to the importance of the project are: The landscape division of Delhi Development Authority NEW DELHI, INDIA, Biodiversity foundation of India and Delhi University had chosen bamboo as the chief building material for all the structures in the prestigious project -Yamuna Biodiversity Park. There is a 15m long Bamboo bridge, gazebo-a rain shelter and a public amenities block.

During the tenure of President Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, this bridge was proposed as a prototype capable of being constructed to connect the villages of North-East India to the National Main stream. Economical & Sustainable bridges can be made from bamboo in a place of steel bridges to solve the connectivity problem of the villages.

1.Bamboo Bridge -Length of the Bridge – 15.00m [clear distance between two side supports]. Width - 1.20m.Total Height - 3.00m(from floor finish level).Starting height with respect to water level - 2.00m.Bridge center level with respect to water level - 3.00m. Roof - Bamboo mat corrugated sheet.Floor – 2”-2.5” solid and hollow bamboo.Railing-1.5” - 2” Bamboo.Total cost- 3.24 lakhs

Features :Bridge structure is based on ‘Arched Truss ‘with the end points bolted to 16mm .MS  plate grouted to the end supports.

Wooden bracket at every 10’ to support 2” thick bamboo floor and the roof.The bridge which was assembled in 20 days only was our first experience of constructing a bridge of such length.

Design load 400kg/sqm in accordance with the provision of IRC-6-of Bamboo bridge. 2000 – Code of Practice for bridge [Published by the Indian Road

Congress] tested and certified by Torsteel foundation, Bangalore

2. Bamboo Gazebo -We used bamboo tiles first time in his project.Total area - 225 sqft, Height - 9’ with respect to floor finish level.Flooring - Cement and stone.

Roofing - Bamboo tiles were made and given hot & cold treatment and fixed in position with interlocking joints without nails.Total cost – 1.60 lakhs

3. The Public Toilet -This is first public toilet was constructed  in bamboo.Total area - 432 sqft, Flooring - cement flooring.All the load testing of the design tests were done by us on site before final execution.Total cost – 2.97 lakhs 8.Residence of Gurudayal Saran , Bangalore

Sir M Vishwesvarayya Prize - A National Award in the Design Ideas Competition 2004-2005 on “Application of Bamboo in Construction” Organized jointly by HUDCO, New Delhi and Hari Om Ashram Trust, Nadiad, Gujarat.

The award has been given for the State Level Energy Park at Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain, Bangalore for innovative use of Bamboo in construction and its significant contribution to the socio-economic, environmental, durability and safety aspects. The award was given at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 27th April 2005.

My Goal : To explore the ideas of low cost housing using bamboo and mud and to start income generation group through microfinance .One-fifth of the population live in temporary houses i.e., either in bamboo make or in mud. Bamboo and mud architecture is the best option from the point of view of earthquake reason, the safe option, green architecture, eco-friendly constructions, etc. My aim is to give information and to make them trained though by making SHG group though microfinance. Each and every poor people required sustainable living standard. I want to explore my 13 years of experience of bamboo based constructions and stabilized mud block house constructions and also the 1.5 years of experience in microfinance for the masses.
