  • Dear parents and carers,

I hope everyone had a fabulous long weekend and feel refreshed after an extra day off. This week teachers have been completing mid year reports and they will go home on Monday of week 10, that is the 26th June.

Sport Cross Country Our runners were amazing today at Coolah for Area Cross Country with several of them now progressing to STATE!!

Students who won a place in the North West side to compete at state on the 21st July include:

    Finn Leader,

    Chad Fisher,

    Jake Atkins,

    Harry Ryman,

    Oliver Shoesmith,

    Stella Robertson.

At the time of writing this, we were still waiting for the 12 years results, so will add them to next week’s newsletter. Congratulations!

Basketball: Both girls and boys basketball teams travelled away this week, with both teams reaching the final of the North West champion’s knockout. Students did the school proud with great sportsmanship and attitude to fair play. Thank you to Miss Holdom and Mr McGuirk for managing and coaching the teams.

Next week will see our Touch football side here at school at 9:30am on the oval.

Rugby League play Coonamble at Longmuir on Tuesday at 11am.

The final of the North West 7s Rugby Union will be held in Tamworth on Wednesday and our Netball girls play Quirindi on Thursday.

From the Relieving Principal…. School Photos Envelopes for school photos

are to be returned to school and will be

collected by the ladies from Montage

    Photography. All enquiries regarding photos

are to be directed to Montage Photography,

not the school office. Montage is located

directly across the road from the Town Hall

or you can call them on 6742 6616.

    Titanium lunch

It is always such a pleasure to take the

students who have reached Titanium out to

lunch. This week I had the pleasure of the

company of Charlotte Semmler and Leni

    Wicks. Both girls

    are certainly great

    representatives of

    our school and it

    is easy to see why

    they have been

    awarded with titanium.

    Upcoming dates:

  • Parent Reminder:

Learning time commences at 9:05am and concludes at 3pm. The expectation is that students arrive prior to the morning bell and stay at school until 3pm. When students are continually late or are being collected early, they are not receiving the benefit of a full day at

    school.

Three students came to read me some of the narratives they had written

today and they were very impressive! Well done to Clancy, Ruby and Sophie.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend.

    Kind regards,

    Nicki Walsh

  • This year, the C.W.A. are studying the country of Nepal. The Gunnedah branch of the C.W.A. would like to invite our students to participate in a Powerpoint competition for Primary and a colouring in

competition for Infants. For specific information please see Miss Reynolds or Mr Sumpter.

  • Last Thursday, the school Tennis team took on Tamworth Public in the North West Final of the

state wide PSSA Knockout Competition. Coming up against Tamworth Public, who had 6

representatives in the North West team, it was always going to be a tough day at the office. Our

opening singles got the match off to a brilliant start with the team winning 3 of the 4 sets. Those

results, however, did not indicate the closeness of the match.

The doubles followed suit, with the straight doubles pairs winning the match for South with 7-5

and 6-4 score lines. Final score, Gunnedah South winning 6 sets to Tamworth 2. Special mention

must go to our No. 3’s, Thomas Donaldson and Ava Coleman. Congratulations to all the players

on a real team effort. The experienced Issy Moore and Chloe Dorrington led by example,

grinding out their wins. Michael Walsh and Mason Louis also made huge contributions. The

team’s next match will be in the Quarter Finals of this state wide competition.
