skin care regimenTo preserve the results of any procedure, whether non-surgical or surgical, it is importantto take care of your skin. This involves high-quality facial cleansers, exfoliating scrubs, physician-grade topical treatments, sunscreen and moisturizers. Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery can recommend a skin care regimen that is customized for each patient's skin care needs and concerns. The most important thing for patients to be aware of is that all skincare is not made equally. The difference between a high-quality skin care regimen and just washing the face with soap every day can make a huge difference in skin tone, skin quality, the amount of blemishes, and the skin's overall appearance.

Facials are a completely non-invasive option that can be customized for the individual.Facials can brighten the skin tone, help reduce acne, even out skin tone, and help firm theskin. Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery offers classic luxury facials, HydraFacials, back facials and teen facials. Facials are available in many different forms, so patients should talk to their aesthetician about their skin concerns and desired outcomes to make sure the right treatment is used.

chemical peels

Skinmedica illuminize peel:The SkinMedica Illuminize Peel is a lighter peel that can be perfect for anyone trying their first chemical peel or wants brighten their complexion with no downtime. The Illuminize peel enhances the skin's overall tone and glow, and it minimizes or eliminates mild skin issues. After only one peel, patients enjoy much brighter looking skin. After a series of peels, patients will see significantly improved skin tone and have a newly youthful glow.

The SkinMedica Vitalize Peel is a medium strength peel that can help resolve moderate skin imperfections like sun damage, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines in the face. Patients can typically see a noticeable improvement after their first Vitalize peel, and after three to six peels they can typically see a dramatic difference.

skinmedica vitalize peel:

Chemical peels can slough the dead upper layers of skin away, revealing the youthful fresh skin underneath. There are several types of chemical peels, ranging from light peels to deep peels.

The SkinMedica Rejuvenize Peel is a stronger peel that is able to reach the deeper skin layers for major exfoliation. This peel is typically used in patients who have moderate to severe skin issues like lines, wrinkles, and rough skin. Most patients who have a SkinMedica Rejuvenize peel are already accustomed to chemical peels and know what to expect in terms of peeling afterward. Patients generally notice improvement after the first Rejuvenize peel and see dramatic results after three to six peels.

In addition to SkinMedica’s peels, we also offer peels from Obagi.

Platelet Rich Plasma Facial (PRP)The PRP Facial utilizes the patient’s own platelets to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and promote healing. At The Skin Care Center at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery, we combine a PRP Facial, a PRP topical application, and a Micro-Needling facial, to improve the effects of Micro-Needling and create the maximum benefit for your skin. (This is sometimes referred to as a “vampire facial”.) Patients see an improvement in their skin’s clarity and texture. Dark marks and sun damage, as well as fine lines and wrinkles, are diminished.

Platelet Rich Plasma Hair Restoration (PRP)PRP comes from blood and contains an abundance of growth factors, which are essential to growing and maintaining a healthy head of hair. PRP Hair Restoration benefits can include less hair loss, thicker, fuller hair, and renewed hair growth. The process is fairly straightforward. One of our highly-trained nurse practitioners will draw 30-60 CCs of the patient’s blood. We will then use the Harvest Platelet Concentrate System to isolate the PRP. A topic anesthetic is applied to the treatment areas. A portion of the PRP is injected into the scalp, just under the skin’s surface. A medical aesthetician then applies the rest of the PRP topically and uses mirco-needling to help it penetrate the skin. For best results, we recommend a total of four PRP treatments, about 4-6 weeks apart.

Rejuvapen Micro-NeedlingThe Skin Care Center at GCPS exclusively offers the Rejuvapen Micro-Needling System. By causing the skin to produce more of its own natural collagen, this innovative system works wonders to treat wrinkles and fine lines and promote firmer, healthier skin. Skin texture and clarity are improved as well. This technology takes less than an hour, with little to no downtime. With regular micro-needling treatments, patients see their skin transformed. Micro-needling can also be used to help flatten and fade scars and stretchmarks.

non-surgical options > Laser Treatments

Laser TreatmentsIntense Pulsed Light (IPL) PhotoFacial Skin TreatmentIPL Photofacial is designed to combat the effects of aging and sun damaged skin with quicker results and no downtime. The Palomar ICON allows treatments to be precise delivering the exact amount of intense pulse light through the skin's surface treating the pigment without injuring the skin's surface. This energy stimulates the production of new collagen, which softens the appearance of aging skin. Sun damaged skin is dramatically improved. Fine lines and wrinkles are decreased, and redness associated with rosacea is significantly reduced.

IPL is an effective way to significantly reduce unwanted hair growth permanently. IPL can be used on the face, upper lip, bikini line/Brazilian, back, underarm area, arms and legs to virtually eliminate hair. A series of treatments, usually 3-5, are required for optimal results. Follow-up treatments, once or twice a year, may be required in order for the area to remain completely hair-free.

UltherapyUltherapy is the only FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure that lifts and tightens the face, neck, chin and brows, and improves lines and wrinkles on the chest. It can even be used to treat knee wrinkles. Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to stimulate your body’s own production of collagen and elastin, which lifts, tightens and tones the skin. Ultherapy provides natural-looking results and helps delay the need for a surgical facelift. Ultherapy helps extend the results of a surgical facelift or brow lift.

Fractional ablative and Non-Ablative laserFractional Laser (sometimes called Fraxel) is the most advanced technology for skin rejuvenation available today. Fractional Lasers tightens the skin of the face, neck, upper arms and other areas by stimulating collagen production deep within the dermis. Wrinkles, fine lines, surgical and acne scars, stretch marks, can be significantly improved. Fractional Lasers also treat age spots, smoker's lines, sun damage and improve the skin's tone and texture. We offer two types of Fractional Laser treatments: Non-Ablative and Ablative.

Non-ablative fractional laser treatments, also called sublative laser treatments, have little downtime. In non-ablative fractional laser treatments to the outer layer of skin is left intact while energy currents are sent into the lower layers of the skin to active collagen production. A series of 3-5 treatments, at four weeks intervals, is usually recommended to achieve the best result. The Ablative fractional laser treatment is a one-time treatment. However, there is some downtime associated with this laser. Your skin will look crusty and red for about 5-7 days. Once healed, most patients notice a dramatic improvement in their skin. Our nurse practitioners will be able to recommend the fractional treatment that is best for your issue and lifestyle.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid formula that has superior ability to restore lost volume and plump areas of the face as desired. It is often used in facial folds and wrinkles, and may also be used for plumping the lips. Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is particularly good for bringing back a more youthful look in people who have started to notice a sunken look in their faces as they have aged. Juvederm Ultra Plus XC lasts for about a year in most patients. Juvederm Ultra Plus XC treatment requires no downtime, but a small amount of swelling can be expected for a few days after treatment. After Juvederm Ultra Plus XC treatment, patients can return to their job and usual routine right away. Any mild redness around the injection sites can be concealed with cosmetics if desired.

botoxBotox is an excellent way to smooth fine lines and wrinkles away and to prevent those lines and wrinkles from forming again. Botox treatment involves the injection of a highly purified protein that forces muscles to stop making the motions that lead to wrinkles. The treatment takes just minutes and typically lasts for three to four months. There is no downtime associated with Botox treatments, and since the treatments take only a few minutes they can even be scheduled on the lunch hour if desired. Patients may have small red marks around the injection sites for a day or so, but this is easily concealed with cosmetics if desired.

In recent years, other companies have offering competitors to Botox including Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau. In addition to Botox, The Skin Care Center at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery and Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery have access to these wrinkle-reducers as well.

Dermal FillersImmediately erase deep creases around the nose and mouth and give lips natural-looking fullness. Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery and The Skin Care Center at Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery has one of the busiest dermal filler practices in the region. We have access to all the dermal fillers available in the United States. Your plastic surgeon or your highly trained nurse practitioner/nurse injector will recommend the type of filler best for your needs. Here is some information on the most commonly requested brands of filler.

Juvederm Voluma XC is designed specifically for adding volume to the middle of theface. It is often the first choice for patients who want to add volume in the cheek area, especially for people who may have lost volume in their cheeks as they grew older. As thevolume in the face decreases, the cheek area can be particularly hard hit, leaving a hollowcheek look that can make a person look old or ill. Juvederm Voluma XC is especially wellsuited for this issue. Juvederm Voluma XC lasts for around 9 to 12 months when injectedin the cheek area. Juvederm Voluma XC treatment requires no downtime, but a smallamount of swelling can be expected for a few days after treatment. After JuvedermVoluma XC treatment, patients can return to their job and usual routine right away. Anymild redness around the injection sites can be concealed with cosmetics if desired.

Juvederm Volbella is specifically designed for use in the lips. It adds natural-looking fullness to the lips, contours the lips and minimizes the lines around the mouth. Most patients coming back for a “touch up” in their lips around after 9-12 months.

Kybella is the first treatment of its kind: An FDA-approved injectable treatment forsubmental fat, a problem commonly known as double chin. Kybella is made fromsynthetic deoxycholic acid. When injected in the excess fat under the chin, the fat cellsthere are destroyed and will no longer be able to store fat or to rebuild themselves. Results are long term and the double chin will not return unless the patient gains asignificant amount of weight in that particular area. Kybella treatment doesn't require anyDowntime. However, most patients find that they need two (and sometimes three) treatments to achieve the desired result.

Latisse is the only FDA-approved solution for sparse eyelashes. When applied consistently, Latisse will make eyelashes longer, stronger, and darker. Many patients say that they are able to quit using false lashes and even mascara after using Latisse. It is important to know that Latisse needs to be used for the long term if a long-term correction is desired. If Latisse use is stopped, the eyelashes will return to their former state.

brow liftFor A Beautiful New ForeheadIn a brow lift, the skin of the forehead is surgically tightened. This process includes raising the eyebrows, smoothing out the forehead, and reducing or eliminating frown lines. In many cases, a brow lift surgery is often done via endoscopy. A brow lift provides a dramatic correction for people who are unhappy with the look of their forehead due to aging and skin damage. While non-surgical options like Botox can smooth away wrinkles, a brow lift is designed to deal with a heavy, drooping brown and severe lines and wrinkles. It offers a long term correction. Most people are able to return to work around 7 to 10 days after a brow lift.

surgical options For The Face

eyelid surgeryFor Removal of Sagging and Drooping Skin in the Eye AreaEyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is the surgical removal of extra skin and fat from the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both eyelids. The excess tissue can create droopiness, sagging, and bags under the eyes. Eyelid surgery is designed to eliminate these issues. Eyelid surgery does not eliminate crow's feet or dark circles, and it is not designed to raise eyebrows that have started to sag. Because of this, eyelid surgery is often done in conjunction with procedures that can correct these issues, like a facelift or a brow lift. After an eyelid lift, the majority of people are able to return to their job at around the 5 to 7-day mark post-surgery.

face and neck liftFor Tighter and Smoother Face and Neck AreasA face and neck lift can dramatically decrease or remove many of the most obvious signs of aging from the face and neck area. Gravity, environmental factors, and the stress of daily life can combine to make the face and neck areas look old before their time. Face and neck lifts are commonly done in conjunction to give the entire area a beautiful and cohesive look. The face lift will tighten the skin, smooth away wrinkles, and remove even deeper facial creases. The neck lift will give better definition to the jaw and improve overall chin contour. After a face and neck lift, most patients are back to work within 7 to 10 days. Some swelling, bruising, and soreness should be expected, but this is normally fully resolved within two to three weeks. A face and neck lift can take years off the face. Many patients say that they feel as if they are looking at an image of their younger selves when they look into the mirror after a face and neck lift. When performed by experienced and meticulous surgeons like Dr. Jocelyn Leveque, Dr. Nathan Patterson and Dr. Peter Butler, a youthful but still very natural result can be achieved.

Ear reshapingFor More Proportionate EarsEar reshaping surgery, also known as otoplasty, alters the shape and/or the position of the ears. For people who are unhappy with their large ears, protruding ears, ordisproportionate ears, ear reshaping surgery can be the permanent solution. This type of surgery is performed on both children and adults. After an ear reshaping surgery, most patients are able to return to work or school after five days to a week of rest.

rhinoplastyOne of the first things people notice about another person’s face is the nose. It is one of the most significant facial features. The nose plays a critical role in the appearance and symmetry of the face. Unfortunately, some people have a nose that detracts from the appearance of their face. Sometimes the nose is excessively large or wide and may be out of balance with the rest of the face. The bridge of the nose may have a “hump”. The tip of nose may be large, hooked or droopy. For patients with these or other issues, a cosmetic rhinoplasty (or nose job) may be the answer.

Rhinoplasty is an out-patient surgery and does not require an overnight stay in the hospital. After a nose job, you can expect some bruising, swelling and puffiness around the nose and eyes. Most patients can return to work within one-to-two weeks after surgery. Your nose will look better immediately after the procedure, and the results will continue to improve over the upcoming year.

I want to understand thoroughlywhy someone has come to see me, what his or her expectations might be and what I can do to help.”
