The program was started with prayer followed by Deep pragatya and floral felicitation of guests. Dr. Manish Rachchh, Asso. Professor of GTU has given welcome speech and has given brief about objectives of organization of “PatenTrack 2014. Further, he mentioned that today being a very special day of “Teacher’s Day” and ending of three years of IPR movement of GTU, university has also arranged orientation program of candidates who have joined one year Post graduate Diploma in IPR” program. Shri Padmin Buch, MD, GITCO, Ahmedabad has mentioned in his guest of honor speech that GTU become the first technical University of India, who have started such unique course on IPR and Patents. He has given compliments to the visionary Vice Chancellor of GTU Honb. Dr. Akshai K. Aggarwal, under whose leadership GTU has stared such unique IPR mission since last three years. Dr. Alpesh Pathak, Global IPR Head of Intas Pharmaceutical Ltd, Ahmedabad in his speech mentioned about importance and relevance of IPR and Patents in R & D based organization and congratulate all members of GTU for going one step forward in IPR mission by launching “PG Diploma in IPR” program. Dr. Ruchi Tiwari, Joint Controller General of Patent, Design and Trademark (Joint-CGPDTM), Mumbai specially remain present as a “Chief Guest” in this function. She congratulated GTU for taking a lead role in promoting IPR and Patents among all academic institutions of Gujarat.

National Competition of “PATENTRACK - 2014”

Orientation of “PG DIPLOMA IN IPR” COURSE

Book Release ceremony “Module -1: Introduction of IPR and Patents”

GTU has organized three different events namely National level patent competition “PatenTrack-2014”,

Orientation program for all admitted candidates of “Post Graduate Diploma in IPR” course and Book

release ceremony of “Module 1: Introduction of IPR and Patents” on 5th

September 214, Friday at

GTU chandkheda campus, wherein 110 faculty and students have participated.

The program was started with prayer followed by Deep pragatya and floral felicitation of guests. Dr.

Manish Rachchh, Asso. Professor of GTU has given welcome speech and has given brief about

Dr. G. P. Vadodaria, I/c registrar of GTU in his presidential speech, given glimpse of IPR activity

started by GTU since 3rd

September 2011. He mentioned that during last three years, GTU has organized

40 faculty development program and 10 workshops for students to train them IPR and in particular

Patents. He mentioned that due to these efforts of University, 4,421 faculty members and 3000+ students

undergone training of IPR and patents and 240 patents have been filled by faculty and students of GTU.

He conveyed his best wishes to all participants came to took part in competition and to all candidates who

have joined newly launched PG Diploma in IPR program.

First book of “Module 1: Introduction of IPR and Patents” of PG Diploma in IPR program was

released by the hand of Dr. Ruchi Tiwari, Dr. G. P. Vadodaria and other dignitaries present on the dais.

At the end, Mr. Amit Patel, Project officer (IPR/Patents) has given vote of thanks. Event was concluded

with national anthem.

After inaugural session, panel discussion was arranged which was chaired by Shri Padmin Buch, where

in Dr. Ruchi Tiwari and Dr. Alpesh Pathak served as technical experts and discussed about patent

filling procedure and prosecution in patent office. Participants have did brain storming interaction with all

penal members.

During post lunch session, one side “PatenTrack - 2014” competition was started, and simultaneously

orientation program was started. In competition total 31 teams participated and did poster presentation of

their patented inventions. All these teams were broadly divided into 4 groups namely:

a) Mechanical and its related inventions

b) Electrical and its related invention

c) Computers and its related invention

d) Pharmaceutical and its related invention

Group wise jury members did evaluation of all participant’s invention on the basis of novelty, non-

obviation, utility, social impact and understanding of invention by the presenting inventor/applicant.

Orientation program of “Post graduate Diploma in IPR” was conducted by Dr. Manish A. Rachchh. He

discussed outline of syllabus, teaching methodology, examination system, and resource person’s details

and like. Each candidate has given their respective self-introduction as well as objective to join this

course. Dr. Manish Rachchh handed over Module – I booklet to all participants and mentioned that first

contact class will be scheduled on 13th

and 14th

September 2014 at GTU, Gandhinagar Campus. Every

candidate appreciated efforts done by GTU to provide best type of environment for learning and

understanding.

At the end of day, valedictory session was organized, chaired by Honb. Dr. Akshai K. Aggrawal, Vice

chancellor of GTU. In his speech, he mentioned about importance of teacher in any students’ life and role

that ideal teacher has to play for socio-economical development of entire society. He urged to all

participating faculties, students and officers of GTU to give their best efforts to make GTU, a world class

University. He acknowledged the contribution done by Dr. Manish Rachchh in GTU’s IPR mission from

the very first day and honored him with a memento by the hand of Dr. G. P. Vadodaria, I/c Registrar of

GTU. He also gave award to the participants who won in “PatenTrack - 2014” competition. Along with

him, Dr. G. P. Vadodaria, Ms. Abha Banerjee (known as ‘Asian Oprah’) and Dr. Rupesh Vasani also

awarded the winners with momento.
