MANUAL DE USO ¿CUÁNDO SE ABRE LA ZONA DE ACAMPADA? La zona de acampada se abrirá el miércoles 23 de Junio a las 18:00 y permanecerá abierto hasta el domingo 27 de Junio a la tarde. El derecho a acampada se adquiere con la adquisición de cualquiera de las entradas (día o bono) del Azkena Rock Festival, pudiendo acampar en cualquier momento entre las fechas señaladas con la pulsera de acceso. En la zona de acampada se puede introducir tanto comida como bebida, así como camping gas. ¿A QUÉ HORA ABREN LAS PUERTAS? La apertura de puertas del recinto del festival es a las 15:15 horas, tanto el viernes como el sábado. El jueves se abrirán puertas a las 17:00h. ESCENARIOS DEL AZKENA ROCK FESTIVAL Toda la música del Azkena Rock Festival se concentra en dos escenarios principales, uno de los cuales está dentro de una carpa. Te aconsejamos que nada más llegar vayas a dar una vuelta por el recinto para orientarte y localizar los distintos servicios que te ofrece el festival. ENTRADAS POR PULSERAS Los horarios de estas taquillas serán los siguientes: Jueves: de 2 de la tarde a 1 de la madrugada. Viernes: de 1 del mediodía a 1 de la madrugada HORARIO VENTA TAQUILLA Y RECOGIDA DE ACREDITACIONES/INVITACIONES Jueves: de 2 de la tarde a 1 de la madrugada. Viernes: de 1 del mediodía a 1 de la madrugada. Sábado: de 2 del mediodía a 1 de la madrugada. Tanto los bonos que se adquieran anticipadamente como los que se compren el día del festival, deberán ser canjeados por pulseras en las taquillas habilitadas por el festival para este servicio, que estarán en la entrada del festival e indicadas con el nombre “Pulseras”. Las entradas de día no llevan pulseras por lo que si sales del recinto de conciertos no podrás volver a entrar LOS BONOS SON UNIPERSONALES E INTRANSFERIBLES, POR LO QUE CON UN BONO SOLAMENTE UNA PERSONA PODRÁ ACCEDER A LOS 3 DÍAS DE FESTIVAL La pulsera te permitirá entrar y salir cuantas veces desees, desde tu entrada al recinto hasta las 05:00 de la madrugada. Si sales después de esa hora no podrás volver a entrar hasta el día siguiente, aunque tengas pulsera. En el momento en que te cambian la pulsera por la entrada, la pulsera se convierte en tu entrada al recinto de conciertos y la entrada deja de tener valor alguno. Cuida la pulsera, no te la quites, pierdas, rompas o intercambies con otra persona, porque con ello perderás tu derecho a acceder al recinto. Asimismo, si las personas de seguridad denotan que tu pulsera está rota o forzada, te impedirán el acceso al recinto, dando por hecho que la has intercambiado con otra persona. ACREDITACIONES E IN-VITACIONES Las pulseras y acreditaciones a invitados y prensa se podrán recoger únicamente en la caseta de acreditaciones situada en la entrada del recinto. ZONA MINUSVÁLIDOS En ambos escenarios principales, junto a las mesas de sonido, habrá una zona elevada para que los asistentes con problemas de movilidad puedan ver las actuaciones. COMIDA Y BEBIDA En diferentes localizaciones del recinto encontrarás barras en las que podrás adquirir agua mineral, cerveza, bebidas energéticas, bocadillos, sandwiches,… EN EL RE-CINTO DEL FESTIVAL NO SE PUEDE METER NI COMIDA NI BEBIDA. Para acceder a la comida y la bebida, necesitarás haber adquirido antes los correspondientes tickets en las distintas cajas repartidas por todo el recinto. Te sugerimos que no esperes a la hora punta para comprar tus tickets; sé previsor y píllalos al entrar en el recinto, te evitarás muchas colas. OBJETOS PELIGROSOS Está prohibido entrar al Azkena Rock Festival con objetos punzantes, de cristal, metálicos, arrojadizos, inflamables o contundentes, lo cual incluye comida y bebida en envases de vidrio y/o latas. En la entrada se realizará un control por la seguridad de todos. Por favor, colabora con nosotros y vente ligero al Azkena Rock Festival. CONSERVACIÓN DE LA ZONA El Azkena Rock Festival cuenta con una ubicación privilegiada: Mendizabala. El festival está emplazado en la explanada de Mendizabala, junto al polideportivo de Mendizorroza. La limpieza y conservación de este espacio natural es uno de nuestros principales objetivos y esperamos que el tuyo también. WC’s Habrá servicios químicos distribuidos por todo el recinto. Recuerda que todos haremos uso de ellos, por lo que intenta dejar el servicio tal y como te gustaría encontrarlo. SERVICIOS MÉDICOS Hay una zona en la entrada de Azkena Rock Festival destinada a los Servicios Médicos, equipada con médicos, ATS, ambulancias, hospital de emergencia… Si te sientes mal, o has tenido o presenciado algún tipo de accidente, acude allí y solicita que te asistan de inmediato. Asimismo, habrá una representación de protección civil, los bomberos y la policía local. MERCHAN-DISING OFICIAL Habrá un punto de venta de merchandising oficial del Azkena Rock Festival, donde además encontrarás material de todos los grupos que actúan en el festival. OTROS CONSEJOS •Si bebes, ya sabes, no conduzcas. Seguramente haya controles de alcoholemia en los alrededores del festival. • Tráete una gorra y tu protector solar, sobre todo para las primeras actuaciones. • Bebe mucha agua para evitar deshidratarte. • Hará calor, por lo que vente con ropa y calzado cómodos. • Está prohibido entrar al Azkena Rock Festival con grabadoras de audio, de video y/o cámaras fotográficas profesionales (con reflex o teleobjetivo). Únicamente las cámaras domésticas están permitidas, pero sin flash. • Por motivos de seguridad, no existe un servicio de consigna en Azkena Rock Festival, por lo que te aconsejamos no traigas nada que no esté permitido o

Ostegunean, ordea, 17:00etan irekiko dira. AZKENA ROCK JAIALDIKO ESZENATOKIAK Azkena Rock jaialdiko musika guztia bi eszenatoki nagusietan biltzen da, hauetariko bat karpa baten pean dagoelarik. Heldu bezain laster, jaialdiko bazter guztiak bisitatzea gomendatzen dizugu, orientat-zeko eta eskaintzen ditugun zerbitzu guztiak aurkitzeko. ESKUMUTURREKOAK SARREREN TRUKE Txartel-degietako ordutegiak: Osteguna: arratsaldeko ordu bietatik goizeko ordu batak arte. Ostirala: eguerdiko ordu batetik goizeko ordu batak arte.Larunbata: arratsaldeko ordu bietatik goizeko ordu batak arte. Aldez aurretik erositako bonuak, zein txarteldegietan erositakoak, eskumuturrekoen ordez aldatu beharko dira, jaialdiaren sarreran “Eskumuturrekoak” izenarekin egongo diren takiletan. Beraz, zaindu ezazu eskumuturrekoa, ez galdu eta ez kendu, jaialdian sartzeko eskubidea galduko baitzenuke. ELBARRIENTZAKO GUNEAK Bi eszenatokietako soinu mahaien alboan gune garaiak jarriko dira, mugikortasun arazoak dituzten pertsonak kontzertuak bertatik ikus ditzaten. JANARIA ETA EDARIA Jaialdian hainbat barra egongo dira eta bertan ura, garagardoa, edari energetikoak, ogitartekoak edo sandwichak erosteko aukera izango dituzu. JAIALDIAN EZIN DA JANARIRIK EDO EDARIRIK SARTU Jaialdian janaria edo edaria erosteko, aldez aurretik dirua jaialdiko ticketen ordez aldatu beharko duzu. Ez itxaron azken unera arte zure ticketak erosteko, jaialdian sartzerakoan aldatzea gomendatzen dizugu, horrela ilara luzeak ekidingo dituzu. OBJEKTU ARRISKUTSUAK Puntadun objektuak, kristalezkoak, metalikoak, jaurtigaiak, suharberak edo sendoak debekatuak daude. Sarreran miaketa bat egingo dizugu, guztion segurtasunagatik. Zure laguntza eta elkarlana ezinbestekoa da. INGURUNEA BABESTU Azkena Rock jaialdia leku paregabean dago: Mendizaba-lan, Mendizorrotzako kiroldegiaren ondoan. Espazio natural honen babesa eta garbitasuna gure helburuetako bat da eta espero dugu zeurea ere izatea. Paperontziaz gain, zaborrontziak egongo dira jaialdian. Mesedez, erabil itzazu. Jaialdiko barra guztietan edaria plastikozko edalontzietan jarriko da, birziklatzeko errazak baitira. KOMUNAK Jaialdian komun kimikoak egongo dira. Denok erabili behar ditugu, beraz, izan zaitez garbia eta zuri aurkitzea gustatuko litzaizukeen bezala utz itzazu. ZERBITZU MEDIKOAK Azkena Rock jaialdiaren sarreran zerbitzu medikoak daude. Bertan medikuak, ATSak, anbulantziak, larrialdietarako ospitalea… aurkituko duzu. Ondoeza badaukazu edo istripuren bat ikusten baduzu, zoaz bertara eta eskatu laguntza berehala. Era be-rean, jaialdian herri-babeseko kideak, suhiltzaileak eta udaltzainak ere egongo dira. AZOKA Jaialdian azoka bat egongo da. Bertan arropa, musika etab… erosteko aukera izango duzu. BESTE AHOLKU BATZUK • Ez ahaz-tu nortasun agiria.• Edanez gero, badakizu, ez gidatu. Ziur aski, alkoholemia kontrolak egongo dira jaialdiaren inguruetan. • Txanoa eta eguzkirako babesa ekarri, batez ere, lehenengo kontzertuetarako. • Ur asko edan ez deshidratatzeko. • Beroa egingo du, beraz, arropa eta zapata erosoekin etor zaitez.• Debekatuta dago jaialdian audio edo bideo grabagailuekin edo argazki kamera profesionalekin (reflex edo teleobjektiboarekin) sartzea. Etxeko kamera arruntak baino ez daude baimenduak, baina ezin da flasha erabili. • Segurtasun kontuak direla eta, Azkena Rock jaialdian ez dago kontsignarik. USERS GUIDE OPENING HOURS FOR CAMPING AREA The camping area will open doors on Wednesday 23rd of June at 6pm and will remain opened until Sunday 27th of June in the afternoon. The purchase of any Azkena Rock Festival ticket (one-day ticket or voucher) allows you camping in this area and free access at any moment during the above mentioned dates. It is possible to introduce food and drinks as well as a portable gas cooking. WHEN FESTIVAL GETS STARTED? Doors will open at 15:15h, both Friday and Saturday. On Thursday they will open at 5pm in the afternoon. STAGES AT AZKENA ROCK FESTIVAL Concerts at the Azkena Rock Festival will be held in two main stages and a Rock Tent. In order to know where the different services of the Festival are located we suggest you to have a look prior arround the venue. TICKETS EXCHANGE FOR WRISTBANDS: The timetables of ticket offices are as follows: - Thursday: from 2pm to 1am - Friday: from 1pm to 1am - Saturday: from 2pm to 1am. Festival tickets will have to be exchanged for wristbands in the ticket offices at the Festival. Ticket offices are located at the main entrance of the venue and highlighted as “PULSERAS” (“WRISTBANDS”). As an exception, one day tickets do not include wristbands, so you will not be able to come in again once you leave the site. THREE-DAY TICKETS ARE UNIPERSONAL AND INTRANSFERIBLE, TO THIS RESPECT JUST ONE PERSON WILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE THREE DAYS TO THE FESTIVAL WITH THIS TICKET The wristband allows you to go out and come in as many times you like, from your first entrance until 5am. After that time you are not allowed to come in again until the next day opening hours, showing wristband is useless. Once you exchange the ticket for wristband, only with the wristband, you will be allowed to gain access to the venue, taking to account ticket is no useless anymore. Take care of your wristband, do not take it off, loose it, break it or exchange it with anyone else as you will lose your entrance right to the venue by doing so. Furthermore, if the security staff sees any sign of a broken or forced wristband, they will prevent you from going into the venue, taken for granted you have exchanged it with other person. ACCREDITACIONS AND INVITATIONS Wristbands and guests invitations can only be picked up in the accreditation house located at the entrance of the concert venue. PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED AREA At the sides of both main stages there is an enclose area, at same level as the mixers, designated for people with reduced mobility that enables them to watch the shows correctly. FOOD AND DRINKS There are bars in different places of the concert venue where you can buy mineral water, beer, energetic drinks, sandwiches…IT IS FORBIDEN TO ENTER FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE FESTIVAL VENUE.If you want to buy food and drink you have to get prior tickets provided for such purpose in the different boxes all around the concert venue. We suggest you not to wait to the peak hours to buy your tickets. Be well-prepared and get them once you get in the concert venue, you will avoid many queues. DANGEROUS OBJECTS It is forbidden to enter the Azkena Rock Festival with sharp, glass, metallic, easily thrown, flammable or heavy objects including food and drinks in glass containers and/or cans. At the entrance there will be a check for everyone’s security. Please, collaborate with us and come light to the Azkena Rock Festival. PRESERVATION OF THE AREA The Azkena Rock Festival is located in a privileged place: Mendizabala. The Festival is situated in the Mendizabala open area, next to Mendizorroza sports center. One of our main goals is the cleaning and preservation of this natural space and we hope is your concern too. WC’S There will be chemical toilets all around the concert venue. Remember it is for communal use so please try to leave them as you would like to find them.MEDICAL AREA There is an area at the entrance of the Azkena Rock Festival for Medical Services with doctors, nurses, ambulances, emergency hospital… If you feel sick or you have suffered or witnessed any kind of accident, go there and ask for an immediate assistance. There will be also members of the civil protection service, the fire-brigade and the local police. OFFICIAL MERCHANDISING There will be an official Azkena Rock Festival merchandising sale spot where you will also find material of all bands playing in the Festival. OTHER ADVISES • Do not forget to bring your documentation. If you drink, do not drive, please. There will be probably breath tests in the Festival surroundings. • Bring a cap and your sun screen, especially for the first concerts. • Drink a lot of water in order to avoid dehydration. • It will be hot so come with comfortable clothes and shoes. • It is forbidden to enter the Azkena Rock Festival with professional audio and video recorders or cameras (reflex o telephoto lens). Only domestic cameras without flash are allowed inside. • For security reasons there is no luggage room in the Azkena Rock Festival, so we suggest you to bring necessary and permitted things only. Gasteiz / Precio: 18/22€Un día antes de que el Azkena Rock arranque en Mendizabala, Quique González ofrecerá un concierto de inauguración del festival en el Teatro Principal de Vitoria-Gasteiz. El cantautor madrileño lleva todo el año presentando su último disco “Daiquiri Blues” (Last Tour Records, 09) en salas y teatros de España, gira que ha tenido una cálida acogida por parte del público. Pero este concierto promete ser aún más especial ya que será grabado en directo para formar parte de un futuro proyecto que recogerá algunos de los directos del Azkena Rock Festival. Antes de que Quique González salga a escena, Arizona Baby serán los encargados de abrir el concierto de inauguración. El trío Vallisoletano se ha convertido en apenas un año en una de las bandas más aclamadas del panorama estatal con su segundo disco de rock and roll y country setentero “Second To None” y, sobre todo, gracias al derroche de actitud y adrenalina del que hacen gala sobre el escenario.

Despite the tour has been a success and have had a very warm fans welcome, the Azkena Rock inaugural event promises to be even more special though. Take it for granted due it would be part of a future project which will compile live concerts from several editions of the Festival. Arizona Baby will be performing prior. The band native from Valladolid will be in charge of opening this moving concert of the Festival. They have become one of the most acclaimed national bands this year due to their second rock and roll and acoustic album “Second To None” which includes a touch of country from the seventies too. But overall, their main formula is that all members radiate attitude and adrenaline on stage.

CONCIERTOS EN LA PLAZA DE LA VIRGEN BLANCALa Plaza vitoriana de La Virgen Blanca volverá a acoger algunos de los conciertos del Azkena Rock Festival. Tras el éxito de esta iniciativa, inaugurada el pasado año, el festival vuelve a programar conciertos, al aire libre y gratuitos, en el corazón de Gasteiz, con la intención de hacer llegar la música del Azkena Rock a toda la ciudad.

Los conciertos tendrán lugar el viernes, sábado y domingo a partir de las 13:30h. La cantante irlandesa Imelda May inaugurará estas sesiones la jornada del viernes con su rock and roll clásico y exquisito. El sábado será el turno del carismático El Vez, apodado el “Elvis mexicano”, que esta vez hará de impersonator de otra de sus bandas favoritas: Kiss. Y el domingo, tras la clausura del festival en Mendizabala, aún quedará tiempo para un concierto más en la Plaza de la Virgen Blanca, como guinda para esta novena edición del Azkena Rock Festival, con la banda The Experimental Tropic Blues Band.

ANDRA MARI ZURIAREN ENPARANTZAKO KONTZERTUAK Gasteizko Andra Mari Zuriaren enparantzak Azkena Rock jaialdiko hiru kontzertu ospatuko ditu aurten be-rriro ere. Pasa den urtean estreinatu zen ekimen honek lortutako arrakastaren ondorioz, jaialdiak doaneko kontzertu hauek programatuko ditu bigarren aldiz hiriaren bihotzean, Azkena Rockaren musika Gasteiz osora zabaltzeko asmoz.

Kontzertuak ostiral, larunbat eta igandean izango dira eguerdiko ordu bat t’erdietan. Imelda May abeslari irlandarraren rock and roll klasikoa izango da lehenengoa, ostiralean. Larunbatean, El Vezen txanda izango da, “Elvis mexikarra” izendatutako musikaria Kiss taldearen impersonator-a bihurtuko da oraingoan. Azkenik, igandean, Mendizabalako jaialdiaren bukaeraren ostean, oraindik kontzertu baterako denbora egongo da An-dra Mari Zurian The Experimental Tropic Blues Band taldearekin, Azkena Rockaren bederatzigarren edizioari amaiera goxoa emateko. CONCERTS AT VIRGEN BLANCA SQUAREAs in the past edition, Virgen Blanca Square in the heart of Vitoria-Gasteiz welcomes once again few of the concerts of the Azkena Rock 2010. Due to the success of this initiative last year, this new edition agenda includes free and open air concerts which will shake music all over the city.

These concerts will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning at 1:30pm. Irish singer Imelda May will introduce this sessions on Friday with her characteristic classic and exquisite rock and roll. El Vez, nicknamed “Elvis the mexican”, impersonator will be the host on Saturday performing songs of one of his favorite bands, KISS. And on Sunday we can still enjoy with The Experimental Tropic Blues Band, after closing in Mendizabala.

BRONZEEn primavera de 2006 Bronze se forma como grupo. En abril de 2008 tuvieron la oportunidad de presentar por primera vez sus canciones, obteniendo una gran acogida por parte del público. A partir de esa actuación han tenido la oportunidad de ofrecer muchas más conciertos y com-partir escenario con bandas como Sorkun, Sexty Sexers, Sharon Stoner o Berri Txarrak. En 2009 aprovecharon para grabar su primer trabajo autoeditado y compuesto por ocho temas cantados en Euskara. En este primer trabajo podemos encontrar temas con reminiscencias del stoner-rock y el grunge, combinando una base rítmica contundente con pasajes más melódicos. Bronze, una joven banda de Vitoria-Gasteiz, que desprende actitud y contundencia.

Bronze 2006ko udaberrian sortzen da. Bere kantak publikoaren aurrean 2008ko apirilean aurkezten dituzte lehenengo aldiz erantzun beroa jasoz. Hortik aurrera kontzertu pilo bat es-kaintzeko aukera izan dute Sorkun & Vice Presidentes, Sexty Sexers, Dixon II, Sharon Stoner edota Berri Txarrak bezalako taldeekin batera. 2009an euren lehenengo lana grabatzen dute, euskaraz abestutako zortzi kantaz osatutako diskoa, beti ere, auto-ekoizpenaren bidetik abia-tuta. Lehenengo lan honetan stoner-rock eta grungearen ukitua duten kantak aurki ditzakegu, erritmo sendoak eta pasarte melodikoak konbinatuz. Bronze is consolidated as a band in the spring 2006. In April 2008 they had the opportunity of presenting their songs for the first time and they were warmly welcomed by the audience. After this performance they have had the opportunity of giving many other concerts and share stage with bands like Sorkun, Sexty Sexers, Sharon Stoner or Berri Txarrak. In 2009 they used the opportunity to record their first self-edited work comprised of eight themes sang in Basque. In this first work we can find songs with Stoner-Rock and Grunge reminiscences, combining a blunt rhythm basis with more melodic passages. Bronze is a young band from Vitoria-Gasteiz with a blunt attitude.

BASKERYBaskery son tres hermanas suecas (Greta, Sunniva y Stella) que crearon la banda para poder desarrollar su pasión por el country, el hillbilly, el punk y el rockabilly. Para definir su inclasificable estilo ellas utilizan términos como “killbilly”, “banjo punk” y “mud-country” y han sido compa-radas con bandas como The Dixie Chicks, The Roches y Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Tras el EP “One Horse Down” de 2007, un año más tarde llegó su primer larga duración bajo el título “Fall Among Thieves”. Un álbum con doce temas originales grabados en directo con la intención de captar en el estudio la energía que desprende la banda sobre los escenarios. Desde entonces no han parado de presentarlo por Europa y EEUU y ahora es el turno del Azkena Rock Festival.

Baskery is made up of three Swedish sisters (Greta, Sunniva and Stella) who created the band to develop their fondness for country, hillbilly, punk and rockabilly. To define their unclassifiable style they use terms like “killbilly”, “banjo punk” and “mud-country” and they have been compared to bands like The Dixie Chicks, The Roches and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. After the EP “One Horse Down” from 2007 one year later they released their first LP “Fall Among Thieves”. It is an album with twelve original songs recorded alive with the aim of capturing the studio the energy the band gives off on the stages. Since then they have not stop presenting it through Europe and the USA and it is now the turn for the Azkena Rock Festival.

Su música lleva el gótico sureño más allá, a través de influencias como The Cramps, The Gun Club o Tom Waits, todo ello interpretado de una manera deliciosamente urgente. Tienen un directo impresionante, poderoso, sin importarles lo más mínimo si hay diez personas o diez mil. El Colonel J.D. Wilkes es el frontman de la banda, además de encargarse de la armónica, las letras y el diseño gráfico. Sobre el escenario puede ser divertido, loco, furioso, acróbata, desquiciado y fabuloso al mismo tiempo. Pero siempre resultando peligroso. Rock, blues, country, punk, blues, swing y sabor sureño, salvaje, acelerado y con mucha clase.

Their music takes the Southern Gotic farther away through influences like The Cramps, The Gun Club or Tom Waits, all of it interpreted in a very delicious and urgent way. They have an amazing and powerful live sound and they don’t care if they play for 10 or 1,000 people. Colonel J.D. Wilkes is the band’s front man and he also plays the harmonic, the lyrics and is in charge of the graphic design of the band. On stage he can be funny, crazy, furious, mad, acrobat, crazy and fabulous at the same time but always dangerous. THE JIM JONES REVUEThe Jim Jones Revue es un combo liderado por Jim Jones, ex-cantante de las leyendas del garage británico The Hypnotics, quienes obtuvieron un amplio reconocimiento en los noventa cuando formaron parte del sello Sub Pop (Nirvana, Soundgarden…), y posteriormente de los brutales Black Moses. El disco homónimo de Jim Jones Revue se ha descrito como un choque entre Little Richard y MC5, aunque también podría tratarse de una colisión entre Jon Spencer y Jerry Lee Lewis. La conclusión es que su estilo es una celebración del más energético y primitivo rock’n’roll, inspirado por The Killer, The Georgia Peach y otros hijos trastornados de Detroit. Su directo es una inmensa bola de fuego que te atrapa sin escapatoria posible.

The Jim Jones Revue is a band lead by Jim Jones, ex singer of the garage British band The Hypnotics – who obtained a wide recognition in the 90´s when they were part of the Sub Pop label (Nirvana, Soundgarden…) and, later, of the brutal Black Moses. The homonym album by Jim Jones Revue has been described as a collision between Little Richard and MC5 although it could be also a collision between Jon Spencer and Jerry Lee Lewis. The conclusion is their style is a celebration of the most energetic and wild rock’n’roll inspired by The Killer, The Georgia Peach and other disturbed Detroit’s sons. Their live sound is an immense fight ball able to catch anyone without any possible way out.

The Durham brothers are three English youngsters (16, 19 and 21 years old) with a special taste for the 40´s music and aesthetics: Louis Armstrong, Muddy Waters, Louis Prima, Ray Charles, Louis Jordan... Thus, taking their basis from the rythm & blues, swing, country and blues - without forgetting rockabilly, they have revisited all these styles and updated them. Lo expuesto hasta ahora parecería una exageración o un imposible si no fuera porque la banda de la que estamos hablando son los mismísimos Gov’t Mule. Liderados por el mayor guitar-hero de los últimos años, Warren Haynes, los Mule se han labrado una merecidísima fama gracias a discos de la talla de “Gov’t Mule”, o “Life Before Insanity”, o sobre todo la obra maestra “Dose”. Gov’t Mule vuelven al Azkean Rock Festival para presentarnos en vivo “By a Thread”, su último trabajo.

Los que han tenido oportunidad de verlos en directo hablan auténticas maravillas de la electricidad que desprenden sus actuaciones, en los que el sudor y la energía destada por la banda sobre el escenario logra el feedback perfecto con el público. Ahora vendrán al Azkena Rock para presentar su nuevo trabajo “No Guts, No Glory”.

The BLACK LIPSThe Black Lips es una banda de punk rock garajero formada a principios de milenio con la sana intención de pasárselo bien haciendo el gamberro. Sus cinco discos de estudio han mostrado una evolución a través del ruido, la psicodelia, etc… pero siempre con ideas muy concretas sobre lo que sus canciones han de ser. Así, sus últimos dos discos de estudio (“Good Bad Not Evil” y “200 Million Thousand”) son dos de los mejores discos de rock and roll de los últimos años, con auténticos himnos como “O Katrina”, “It Feels Alright”, “Drugs” o “Take My Heart”. Sus directos siempre son garantía de diversión y altercados, tanto sobre el escenario como en las primeras filas. Primera visita de una de las bandas más gamberras de la escena a Euskadi.

The Black Lips is a punk rock garage rock formed at the beginning of the millennium with the healthy intention of having fun playing the fool. Their 5 studio albums have shown an evolution through noise, psychodelia, etc. but always with very specific ideas about what their songs must be. Thus, their last 2 studio albums (“Good Bad Not Evil” and “200 Million Thousand”) are two of the best Rock And Roll records of the last years with real hymns like “O Katrina”, “It Feels Alright”, “Drugs” or “Take my Heart”. Their concerts are always a warranty for fun and trouble, both on stage and in the first rows. This will be the first visit of one of the most troublemaker bands of the scene to the Basque Country.

'77El título de su disco lo dice todo, “21st Century Rock”, aunque ellos muestren un amor incondi-cional hacia el rock, digamos atemporal, ese rock que hace ya muchos años AC/DC patentaron como marca de la casa. Pero ‘77 consiguen lo inimaginable, en su primer trabajo logran que sus diez composiciones te enganchen. Armand y LG crean ’77 a mediados de 2005 pero su debut en directo no se produce hasta febrero del 2006 en la barcelonesa sala La Rulot. Marzo del 2009 marca la salida al mercado de “21st Century Rock”, un disco de rock con mayúsculas que directamente gustará a todo aquel que haya disfrutado alguna vez con cualquier canción de AC/DC, con un buen rock and roll mezclado con boogie y con guiños a la década de los setenta en general.

The title of their homonym album is very clear: “21st Century Rock” - although they show an unconditional love for, let´s say, atemporal rock, that one patented so many years ago by AC/DC as the house label. But ‘77 get the unimaginable: their first work’s ten songs stick in your mind. Armand and LG create ’77 in the mid 2005 but their debut in concert takes place in February 2006 at La Rulot, a concert hall in Barcelona. In March 2009 “21st century rock” will be released – a real rock album mixed up with boogie and 70´s touches in general. Anyone who had ever enjoyed any AC/DC’s song will like it for sure.

IMELDA MAYAl sonar los primeros compases de su segundo disco, “Love Tatoo”, te sumerges en la banda sonora de una película de culto, exótica y americana de los años 50 con una imitadora de Betty Page. Pero Imelda May pertenece al siglo XXI y es irlandesa. Su voz recuerda a mitos de la talla de Billie Holliday, Dinah Washington o Wanda Jackson, y su música es una mezcla del mejor rockabilly, el blues, el jazz,… todo ello con un estilo muy actual, pero con un poso de los años 50’s. “Johnny Got a Boom Boom” o “Big Bad Handsome Man” son clásicos instantáneos que la acercan de igual manera a Eddie Cochran o Jerry Lee Lewis tanto como a los The Cramps o a una banda de swing. Sin lugar a dudas estamos ante una de las damas de la escena actual.

When the first bits of their second album “Love Tatoo” start sounding, you get immersed in the soundtrack of a cult, exotic or American film of the 50´s with a singer imitating Betty Page. But Imelda May belongs to the XXI century and she is Irish. Her voice reminds to myths like Billie Holliday, Dinah Washington or Wanda Jackson and her music is a mix of the best rockabilly, blues, jazz,… all of it in a very contemporary style but with a 50´s touch. “Johnny Got a Boom Boom” or “Big Bad Handsome Man” are Classical pieces that sound both like Eddie Cochran or Jerry Lee Lewis or even to the Cramps or to a swing band. Nacido en Londres, Teddy se marchó a L.A. tan pronto como cumplió los18 años para intentar labrarse una carrera artística. Su debut homónimo data del año 2000 y fue producido por el gran Joe Henry. Entonces se le comparaba con músicos de la talla de Josh Rouse y Elliot Smith, aunque sus últimos discos se acercan más a un Chris Isaak country tratando de hacer la canción pop perfecta. Uno de los artesanos pop más interesantes de los últimos años.

THE DamnedThe Damned fue la primera banda punk inglesa en publicar un single (“New Rose”), lanzar un disco (“Damned, Damned, Damned”) y girar por los Estados Unidos. Al igual que sus compa-ñeros de generación (Sex Pistols, The Clash,…) no se trataba de músicos vir tuosos, sino de un grupo de amigos influenciados por bandas americanas previas como The Stooges o New York Dolls entre otros. Lo primero que llamó la atención fueron sus explosivos directos, en los cuales aparecían en escena totalmente borrachos y con vestimentas estrafalarias, como Dave Vanian, quien solía ir maquillado como personajes de terror. A lo largo de los años la banda ha sobrevivido llegando a convertirse en una de las más importantes que ha dado la historua del punk-rock. The Damned was the first English Punk band to release a single (New Rose”), to release an album (“Damned, Damned, Damned”) and tour around the US. AS their generation mates (Sex Pistols, The Clash,…) they were not virtuous but a group of friends influenced by previous American bands like The Stooges or New York Dolls. The first thing to attract attention was their explosive concerts where they appeared on scene completely drunk or with bizarre costumes like Dave Vanian who used to go made up as terror characters. Throughout the years the band has survived by transforming into one of the best punk-rock bands.

AUDIENCEAudience es un grupo que surge entre los pueblos vizcaínos de Guernika y Busturia a finales de los años 90. Con su primera maqueta logran llegar a la final del Villa de Bilbao y ya en 2001 logran tocar junto a artistas como PJ Harvey o Flaming Lips en el FIB. En el 2003 actúan en el Primavera Sound, junto a sus idolatrados Gallon Drunk, presentando su segundo trabajo “Second Handed”. Su estilo va evolucionando poco a poco hacia sonidos más clásicos, bajo la influencia del country y del rock, pero sin olvidar sus influencias pop y sus dejes más experimentales. Su penúltimo trabajo, “Trying Wings on Roots”, se podría considerar como su disco country, y el paso perfecto para su maravilloso nuevo disco: “A Shake in Calm Water”.

Audience is a band coming up from the Basque villages of Guernika and Busturia at the end of the 90´s. With their first demos they arrived to the Villa de Bilbao contest final and already in 2001 they played together with artists like PJ Harvey or Flaming Lips in the FIB. In 2003 the performed at the Primavera Sound with their idolized Gallon Drunk presenting their second work “Second Handed”. Their style slowly evolves to more classic sounds with country and rock influences but without forgetting their pop influences and other experimental touches. From the rainy and cold town of Liverpool comes The Cubical, a Blues garage band with 60’s sounds near to the Yardbirds with a voice immediately reminding us to Don Van Vliet that is, to Captain Beefhear t or Howlin’ Wolf with a debut album full of great songs executed with an extraordinary nerve. The album has 60’s resonances from the beginning to the end and it seems untrue that it has been recorded nowadays. It has an excellent production - recorded in Hollywood by a more than charismatic singer and a band that gains points the more you listen to the album. Como muchos artistas de su edad, Robert Gordon pertenece a esa generación que quedó mar-cada por el sonido de Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent, Jack Scott, Otis Redding o James Brown. A finales de los 70, coincidiendo con la explosión del punk, Robert Gordon era el elegido para mantener viva la mecha del rock primitivo de los 50, que abarcaba el rhythm and blues, el surf y el rockabilly. Ya su debut en solitario vino apadrinado por el gran Link Wray a finales de los 70, y desde entonces su carisma, su presencia y su privilegiada voz le han valido un lugar entre los grandes. En esta ocasión le acompaña Chris Speading, su inseparable mano derecha, a la guitarra, el gran Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats) a la batería y el mítico Phil Greasy Carlisi.

As many artists of his age, Robert Gordon belongs to that generation marked by the sound of soloists like Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent, Jack Scott, Otis Redding or James Brown. At the end of the 70’s, coinciding with the punk explosion Gordon was chosen as the 50’s primitive rock heir covering rhythm and blues, surf and rockabilly. His solo debut was already sponsored by the great Link Wray at the end of the 70’s and since then, his charisma, presence and privileged voice have carved him out a place among the great ones. He is accompanied this time by, Chris Speading, his inseparable right hand in the guitar, the great Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats) in the drums and the mythic Phil Greasy Carlisi.

Musicalmente hablando la banda se acercaría más a unos New York Dolls con melodías pop en la onda de Blondie o los Ramones, todo ello con una actitud muy punk rock, marca inapelable de la ciudad que les vio nacer. Ahora, vuelven a nuestras tierras para presentarnos su nuevo disco a través de su poderoso directo. This spectacular band started out in New York in the mid 90´s as a sincere homage to all the North American scene of the 70´s: Ramones, Kiss, Dead Boys and, very specially, to Blondie. In fact, the leader of the band – performer and quick-check artist Miss Guy, has taken a great part of his image from the great Debbie Harry and the live performance feeds both from the New York Dolls and from Kiss. Musically speaking the band would be closer to the New York Dolls with pop melodies like Blondie or the Ramones, all of it with a very punk rock attitude, an unmistakable mark of the city where they were born. They now come back to our lands to present us their new album through their powerful live sound.

Singer, composer, musician and actor, this artist from California has been captivating the audience during more than 25 years thanks to his mix of country, rockabilly and rock & roll. With influences from Elvis, Roy Orbison, the classical blues and the traditional country, he has one of the best voices of the scene. In 1989 he got his great international success with his album “Heart Shaped World” and his single “Wicked Game”. Author of 13 powerful albums he presents us his last album “Mr. Lucky” where he is back to his most American origins. As the title of the album he feels himself touched by luck: “I have the job of my dreams and I keep working on it. I couldn’t be happiest”. We are lucky to see him in concert.

La banda describe su álbum como “un guante de terciopelo con puños americanos, brutal y sofisticado al mismo tiempo”. Formed in the mid 90´s The Hives is one of the most important punk rock European band thanks to their contagious songs and their elegant attire. After their debut release “Barely Legal” in 1997 they started touring as The Hellacopters´ support band all around Europe and leaving a very good impression. But it wasn’t until the year 2.000 when the band became something really big thanks to their master piece “Veni, Vidi, Vicious”, with singles like “Main Offender” or “Hate To Say I Told You So”. The band describes its album as “a velvet glove with American fists, brutal and sophisticated at the same time”. The band hasn’t stop growing since then and they have become a Contemporary Classic.

Y vaya si lo cumplieron. Antes de acabar la década de los 80 el nombre de Bad Religion se había convertido en un auténtico punto de referencia para todo punk rocker que se preciara gracias a discos de la talla de “No Control”, “Suffer” o “Against The Grain”. Bajo su tutela musical nacieron bandas claves de mediados de los 90 como Green Day, Rancid u Offspring, pero ellos siguieron rei-nando en lo más alto gracias a nuevos clásicos como “Generator”, “Recipe For Hate” o “Stranger Than Fiction”. Ahora, la banda que inventó el hardcore melódico vuelve a visitarnos.

Influenced by the Sex Pistols, the Dead Kennedys and Black Flag, a group of young skaters from South California tried to fulfil their dream: becoming one of the most important punk-rock bands of the world. And for sure did they get it. Before finishing the 80’s the name Bad Religion had become a real point of reference for any punk rocker thanks to albums like “No Control”, “Suffer” or “Against The Grain”. Followers of their label were key bands of the mid 90’s like Green Day, Rancid or Offspring, but they continued being the kings thanks to new classic songs like “Gene-rator”, “Recipe For Hate” or “Stranger Than Fiction”. Now, the band inventing melodic hardcore is re-visiting us.
