ONE YEAR ALREADY
This Sunday marks the first anniversary for me as pastor of our parish. This time has flown by as I have begun to get to know all of you and to learn all the workings of our parish and school. I am so thankful for all of our great parish and school staff who are so dedicated to you and give so much of themselves. I am very thankful to Msgr. Mike Kuse for his continued presence with us and especially to cover for me as I continue my chaplain work with the Cardinals. He is great to answer any questions that I have.
I am most thankful to all of you. You have made me feel welcome since day 1. It has been an adjustment to “Living over the store” again but its amazing how many activities we have that shows how alive our parish is. Your commit-ment to be good stewards of the gifts God has given you seems to be growing. Thanks also for adjusting to the changes I have made. We have made some great improvements with our sound system and computer network thanks to your generosity.
I am excited about our future as a parish, especially as I see all of our young families at church. I wish we had a few more seats for 10:00 Mass! I will continue to work on getting to know all of your names and faces. Please invite me for a meal as this is a great way for us to get to know each other in a smaller setting. Please pray for me as I do for you. I hope you feel that you can contact me if you need any-thing. Texting works great. (618-798-0343). Put me in your contacts. May God continue to bless you.
MOVING ON
Our Deacon candidate Dennis Holbrook will be completing his assignment at Blessed Sacrament on July 31. He will be starting at St. Anthony Parish this fall. This is normal for deacon candidates to work in multiple parishes before they are ordained. We are so thankful for what Dennis and Pat have given to our parish these last 2 years. I know that Dennis will be a great servant to whichever parish he is assigned. Dennis, you will be greatly missed and will be in our prayers.
WOMAN OF DISTINCTION AWARD We congratulate Joy Hessling, from Blessed Sacrament Parish, for receiving the
Woman of Dis nc on Award. Joy, with other women from the Diocese, were
honored at a Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Concep on, on Satur-
day, June 16, 2018. The women were then honored with a luncheon. This
award is given each year to a woman from each parish who demonstrates a
spirit of giving, which is a reflec on of the many gi s and talents they have
shared with the parish and community.
