Did you know……Grapefruit is part of the citrus family. Citrus fruits have a thick rind and juicy pulp inside.
The first citrus trees grew in Asia over 4000 years ago.

Just the FactsA farmer in Jamaica called this new fruit grapefruit because of the way it grew in clusters, like grapes, but on a tree.
Grapefruit was grown in the Caribbean inthe 1700s and was sometimes
called the “forbidden fruit”.
Where Does Grapefruit Grow?
• Grapefruit trees like warm weather.
• California is perfect for growing grapefruit.
• California has many different farming areas with different climates.

Ingredients1. One 20 ounce can of
grapefruit in 100% juice
2. 1 pound bag of diced jicama
3. ¼ teaspoon chili powder
Preparation1. Drain grapefruit, reserving
¼ cup of the juice.2. Add all ingredients into a
large mixing bowl and gently toss together.
3. Place into bowls for each group.
4. Each student puts 2 tablespoons in a small cup.
5. Eat immediately.
