“Effective teachers have always focused on identifying student strengths and weaknesses, facilitating meaningful student learning, and monitoring student progress towards their educational goals. Including student growth measures within teacher evaluation simply rewards and recognizes a focus on what matters most: our children.” Expanded ADEPT 2018 Guidelines

SCTS 4.0 EvidenceoData is entered into SCLead.org
oRatings are calculated in SCLead.org
17
Domain Weightings
oPlanning = 20 %
oInstruction = 50 %
oEnvironment = 20 %
oProfessionalism = 10 %
18
Scoring ExampleA teacher’s average domain scores are as follows:
oPlanning = 3.25
oInstruction = 3.21
oEnvironment = 3.45
oProfessionalism = 3.75
Scoring Results with weights:
Planning = 3.25 * .2 = .65; Instruction = 3.21 * .5 = 1.605; Environment = 3.45 * .2 = .69; Professionalism = 3.75 * .1 = .375
Overall composite score = 3.32
19
Student Learning Objectives and Scoring• The SLO will be required annually of all classroom-based teachers
and used as an artifact to support the SCTS indicators.
• At the conclusion of the evaluation period, the teacher’s SLO score is used as a modifier for the teacher’s overall evaluation rating:
• An SLO score of 4 will increase the teacher’s overall evaluation rating by .25
• an SLO score of 1 will decrease the teacher’s overall evaluation rating by -.25
• SLO scores of 2 and 3 have no impact on the teacher’s overall evaluation rating.
• If the teacher fails to complete the SLO, the teacher will score a 1 on the SLO, resulting in a decrease of the overall evaluation rating of -.25.

How is evidence used?
oEach observation will include a post-observation conference that provides an area of “Reinforcement, (area of
strength) and of “Refinement”
(area of challenge).

How will my SCTS 4.0 results be used?
Depending on your certificatelevel, contract level, andprofessional performance history, your SCTS 4.0 results will be used for different purposes…
23
How will my SCTS 4.0 results be used?If you…
(1) hold an initial teaching certificate (or the equivalent),
(2) are employed under an annual contract, and
(3) are undergoing SCTS 4.0 for the first time, and
o if you receive an overall rating of “Met”, you will have met the ADEPT requirements for eligibility to advance to a professional teaching certificate and a continuing contract.
o if you receive an overall rating of “Not Met”, you will be eligible to attempt the formal evaluation one additional time during a subsequent academic year, either in your present school district or in another school district in SC; at which point you must have a successful summative evaluation in order to be eligible for certificate and contract advancement.
24
How will my SCTS 4.0 results be used?
If you…
(1) hold a professional teaching certificate based on out-of-state reciprocity,
(2) are employed under an annual contract, and (3) are undergoing SCTS 4.0 for the first time, and if you receive an overall rating of “Met”, you will have met the

if you receive an overall rating of “Not Met”, you will be eligible to attempt summative evaluation one additional time during a subsequent academic year, either in your present school district or in another school district in the state.
25
How will my SCTS 4.0 results be used?If you…(1) hold an initial teaching certificate (or the equivalent), (2) are employed under an annual contract, and(3) have had an unsuccessful ADEPT Summative evaluation during a previous school year - “Highly Consequential evaluation”, and if you receive an overall rating of “Met”, you will have met the
ADEPT requirements for eligibility to advance to a professional teaching certificate and a continuing contract.
if you receive an overall rating of “Not Met”, the state must suspend your teaching certificate for a minimum of two years, and you will need to complete a remediation plan which may include additional course work, as specified by the state, in order to have your certificate reinstated.
26
How will my SCTS 4.0 results be used?
If you:
(1) hold a professional teaching certificateand
(2) are employed under a continuingcontract, the district may use your finalSCTS 4.0 results as a factor in determiningyour eligibility for continued employmentin the district
(3) No action against the teaching certificate
