The scenting day takes the form of a tracking trial with the dogsleashed. The trials are open to all hounds. Entries

THIS SHOW IS OPEN TO ALL1 The Show will open at 8.00 a.m.2 Dogs will be received until 12.30 p.m. after which no dogs may be received except under exceptional and

unforseen circumstances and by special permission of the Show Management.3 Judging will commence at 9.00 a.m.4 Exhibits may be removed from the show after their judging has been completed.

Exhibits may not be removed any earlier unless by written order of the Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner,or of the Show Management and then only in very exceptional and unforseen circumstances which must bereported to the Kennel Club.The Show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed by which timedogs must be removed.

8 The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.9 Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition.

10 Best Puppy in ShowWhere a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competedand has been declared Best Puppy in Breed, Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best AnyVariety Imported Breed Register Puppy. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of ageon the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is a puppy it shouldautomatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Where theReserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten byan adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Showrespectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show must followthe selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively.(a) Shows Judged on the Group System

(Definition; Shows judged on Group System - Refer to Regulation 27B.)(1) Best Puppy in Breed

A Best Puppy must be declared in each breed from puppies entered in the breed classes.A Best Puppy AVNSC must be declared from the Any Variety Not Separately classified class(es).A Best Puppy must be declared from the Any Variety Imported Breed Register class(es).

(2) Best Puppy in GroupBest Puppy in Group and subsequent Puppy Group placings must be selected from:-(a) Those puppies declared Best Puppy in Breed(b) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each

group or on each day(c) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Imported Breed Register classes on each

day.11 Best in Show

The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and has been declared Best in Breed, Best AnyVariety Not Separately Classified or Best Any Variety Import Register.Definition of a Category 3 Breed. A breed from time to time designated by the Board as requiring particularmonitoring by reason of visible condition(s) which may cause health or welfare concerns. The list of designatedCategory 3 Breeds is kept under regular review.(1) Best of Breed

Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which havereceived a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of abreed a Best of each Sex must be declared.

NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified/Best Any Variety Imported BreedRegister award relevant to a Category 3 will not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by theGeneral and Group Championship Show Veterinary Surgeon. If the dog fails to pass the examination it isineligible to compete in the relevant Group.

(2) Best in ShowBest in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners. Reserve Best in Show must be selected fromthe remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

12 Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since theannouncement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previousjudging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

13 Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner whichcauses its feet not touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that suchpractice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee underKennel Club Show Regulation F11.

14 All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs forExhibition.

15 All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry tothe show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to theexhibitor/competitor.

16 Dogs in Vehicles on Hot DaysAnyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure theneeds of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omissionor otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary actionunder the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy

holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water

available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade — take your own shade, for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of

water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths

of time.Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to direresults. Please look after your dog’s welfare.WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILILTY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure theneeds of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omissionor otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinaryaction under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

17 Not For Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry formand must be Kennel Club registered.

18 No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will befollowed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

19 Best Veteran in Show. The Kennel Club Show Regulations stipulate that dogs must be entered andexhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeatendogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended. (Please refer to theFAQs on the Kennel Club Website for further information)BEST VETERAN IN SHOW is a Veteran which has competed and is unbeaten by any other Veteran (in breedclasses) exhibited at the same show. Best Veteran in Breed will be selected from all unbeaten veterans from anybreed classes provided they are not beaten by any other veteran. Best Veteran In Show (Group) will be selectedfrom all Best Veteran in Breed provided they are unbeaten by any other veteran.Proviso. For the purposes of this Regulation dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny,Brace, Team and Veteran or a Special Award, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

20 The Show will be held under the Rules and Show Regulations of the Kennel Club. All hounds must be registered atthe Kennel Club before the Show.

21 ALL entries (whether online or postal) must be made to Higham Press on or before Monday, 11th June, 2018(postmark). The entrance fee must be forwarded to Higham Press with the entry forms, or the entry will not beaccepted. Each exhibitor must use a separate entry form. No late entries will be accepted. Entries may be madeonline up to 12 noon on Monday 18th June 2018 at www.dog.biz.

22 There will be no benching fee.

23 Should any of the judges be prevented from fulfilling their engagements, the Committee reserve to themselves theright of appointing other judges to act. Exhibitors will in that case be at liberty to withdraw from competition, but noentry fees will be returned. (Vide Kennel Club Show Regulations).

24 The Judges will be instructed and empowered to withhold the prize or prizes in any class, if, in their opinion thehound or hounds do not possess sufficient merit. Judges are not empowered to award prizes beyond those offeredin the Schedule of prizes. Any such award shall not have any value or count as a win, except the consent of theSecretary be first obtained in writing. (Vide Kennel Club Show Regulation 22 (d)).

25 No animal other than a dog duly entered at the Show will be allowed in the precincts of the Show during itscontinuance.

26 All Rules and Regulations, or definitions or instructions of the nature of Rules and Regulations, printed forconvenience in other parts of the Schedule shall be deemed to be the Regulations of the Committee and shallhave the same effect as if they formed part of these Regulations.

27 The Committee will not be in any way responsible for any claims by exhibitors for any loss of valuables.28 In view of the pressure of work at the time of entries closing, entries cannot be acknowledged by return of post

unless an addressed card accompanies the entry form.29 The Committee will be most anxious for the care and safety of the hounds sent for exhibition, and for any other

property entrusted to them, but it must be distinctly understood by exhibitors and purchasers of hounds that theCommittee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of, or damage to any hounds or other property or forinjuries to any person, whether arising from accident or other causes whatever, or for any act of omission ofthemselves, their officers, agents, servants or others, and it is on this understanding only that entries are received.The use of a cooking stove in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as authorised bythe Show Management.

30 Every exhibitor making an entry or entries at or for this Show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by theKennel Club Limited Rules and Show Regulations printed herein, and by these regulations, and it is on thisunderstanding only that entries are received.

31 No persons will be permitted to take any hound into the Ring until required for judging. Exercising in the rings willbe strictly prohibited.

32 Exhibitors showing hounds are not permitted to hold conversation with the judges during competition and anyexhibitor who persists in addressing the judges after being requested not to do so by the Ring Steward, the judgeor any of the Committee may be disqualified and any prize awarded to his or her hounds forfeited. No personsother than the exhibitor (officials excepted) will be allowed in the ring during the judging of classes or specials.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSESPUPPIES UNDER SIX CALENDAR MONTHS OF AGE ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR EXHIBITION

In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the title ofChampion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club.

Wins at Championship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted aswins at Open Shows.

In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members’ classes or competing for Members’ Specialseach partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society.

In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing ofpostal entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. 4th June 2018.

Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering in Variety classes, wins in bothBreed and Variety classes must be counted. A first prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value.

If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, theexhibitor may choose one of the following options:-(1) A Puppy, unless a class for dogs under twelve months of age for which it is eligible is provided for the breed(2) A dog in Any Variety Field Trial or Working Trial Class(3) A dog in Any Variety Veteran Class(4) A dog in Any Variety Champion Class(5) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of the appointment of an emergency judge.(6) A dog in YKC Stakes Classes.(7) A dog in Good Citizen Scheme Classes.(8) Exhibits bred by the scheduled breed Judge.

If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, theexhibitor may choose one of the following options:

(1) WithdrawalThe dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20.

(2) Transfer(a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the Show

Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or heightand, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to the Open Classfor the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy Class, Puppy Class or Junior Class, which is over agebut under 12 calendar months of age, 18 calendar months of age or 24 calendar months of agerespectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy Class, Junior Class or YearlingClass respectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being noPuppy, Junior or Yearling Class, to the Open Class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for thecorrect breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog maynot be transferred to any other class.

MINOR PUPPY—For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the day of the Show.PUPPY—For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the day of the Show. Puppies under six

calendar months of age on the day of the show are not eligible for exhibition.JUNIOR—For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the day of the Show.YEARLING—For dogs of twelve months and not exceeding two years of age on the day of the Show.SPECIAL BEGINNERS—For owner, handler or exhibit not having won a Challenge Certificate or Reserve Challenge

Certificate, or for those breeds not allocated Championship Status, Best of Sex or Reserve Best of Sex at aChampionship Show.

GRADUATE—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First Prizes at ChampionshipShows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open Classes, whether restricted or not, whereChallenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

POST GRADUATE—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes at ChampionshipShows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open Classes, whether restricted or not, where ChallengeCertificates were offered for the breed.

MID LIMIT—For dogs which have not become show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules ofany governing body recognised by the Kennel Club, or won 3 or more CACIB/CAC/Green Stars or won five or moreFirst Prizes in all at Championship Shows in Mid Limit, Limit or Open Classes confined to the breed, whetherrestricted or not, at shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

LIMIT—For dogs which have not become show Champions under the Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of anygoverning body recognised by the Kennel Club, or won 3 or more CACIB/CAC/Green Stars or won 7 or more FirstPrizes in all at Championship Shows in Limit or Open Classes confined to the Breed, whether restricted or not atShows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

OPEN—For all dogs of the breeds or varieties for which a class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.IMPORTED BREED REGISTER—For breeds confined to the Imported Breeds Register and only when an Interim

Breed Standard has been published by the Kennel Club. Such breeds may be exhibited in this class only, with thewinning dog being eligible for Best in Group/Best Puppy in Group or Best in Show/Best Puppy in Show as relevant.

VETERAN—For dogs of 7 years of age or upwards on day of Show.BRACE—For two exhibits (either sex or mixed) of one breed belonging to the same exhibitor, each exhibit having been

entered in some class other than Brace or Team.PROGENY—For a dog or bitch accompanied by at least three of its registered progeny. The dog or bitch not necessarily

entered in another class. However, all progeny having been entered and exhibited in another class. The dog or bitchand the progeny need not be registered in the same ownership.

BRED BY EXHIBITOR STAKES—The exhibit to be owned, shown and bred by the exhibitor/handler. In the case of apartnership, owner details to be exactly same as breeder, and the handler to be co-owner.

VARIETY CLASSES—An exhibit may now be entered and exhibited in Stakes classes only but will not then be eligibleto Challenge for any other award in the breed or BIS/BPIS competition unless also entered in the breed.

SPECIAL OPEN WORKING—All Hounds must either have hunted with a regulation pack, or successfully completed ascenting trial or be qualified as stated below. Entries must be accompanied by written authority from the Master ofthe pack, a Midland Basset Hound Club Scenting Trial Certificate awarded in the previous year, or hold a WorkingCertificate as specified.

SPECIAL OPEN WORKING TRIAL—(a) For Beagles and Bassets Griffons Vendeen which have hunted with arecognised pack or hold a Working Certificate recognised by the Kennel Club from a registered society. Entries frompack entered hunting hounds must be accompanied by written authority from the Master of the pack. (b) ForBloodhounds which have a permit to enter a Bloodhound Working Trial or Kennel Club licensed Working Trial heldunder Kennel Club regulations.

SPECIAL LURE CHASING DEERHOUND—For Deerhounds who have lure-chased at a recognised Club event. Nameof Club to be given on entry form.

SPECIAL OPEN RACING OR LURE-CHASING—For Whippets who have won a race with a WCRA recognised club(passports must be produced on the day) or who have lure-chased with the BFSA and for Greyhounds who must beregistered with the KC and also registered with the NGRC or the NCC.

KENNEL CLUB GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME—For dogs which have obtained their Good Citizen Bronze award orabove.

KENNEL CLUB SPECIAL BEGINNERS COMPETITION—A new competition sponsored by the Kennel Club. ASpecial Beginners class for dogs and bitches plus AVNSC and Imported Breed Register classes is scheduled. TheBest Special Beginner to be declared for each breed plus AVNSC and Imported Breed Register classes go forwardto the group competition. For class definition see above.The Kennel Club will provide sponsorship in the form of Rosettes 1st - 4th for each group together with prize moneyof £100 for each group to be awarded as follows: 1st Prize £40; 2nd Prize £30; 3rd Prize £20; 4th Prize £10. Thereis no need to return on the final day.

KENNEL CLUB BREEDERS’ COMPETITION—Each team will consist of a minimum of three and maximum of fourdogs of one breed, all bred by the same breeder or breeding partnership. The breeder enters the class and thenarranges which dogs are exhibited on the day of the show (from those dogs duly entered for exhibition in anotherclass at this show). Please clearly state the name and affix of the registered breeder(s). Entries will not be taken onthe day of the show. Teams will be awarded points/prize money in the KC Breeders’ Competition as follows: Points1st; 30; 2nd 15; 3rd 10; 4th 5. Prize Money 1st Non ABS Prize Fund £20; ABS Prize Fund £25. Please note thatAssured Breeders will be credited with a higher prize value. These points will be recorded in the Kennel ClubBreeders Competition record book through the year. The minimum qualification for the Crufts final will be 50 points,with a maximum of 40 finalists including the winning teams from the European and World Dog Shows’ breederscompetition. Our Dogs will collate the points and publish a leader board through the year.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F (B)1 These Regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at any Kennel Club

Licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under these ShowRegulations and/or for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A42.(a) A dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these Regulations will automatically be disqualified from

exhibition at the show and from any award gained thereat.(b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach of these

Regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed under Rule 42.2 (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’s coat for

any purpose at any time during the Show. No substance which alters the natural colour of any external part ofthe dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the Show.

(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibition must notbe allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition.

3 No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performed except:(a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) The removal of dewclaws of any breed.(c) Operations to prevent breeding, provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before neutered

dogs are shown.Nor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive.

4 The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at any Show. Anyexamination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall have a written directivefrom the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis.

5 An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dog competingin the same breed or class, an objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show or by anyone sodeputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official(as appropriate) to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the grounds foran objection made on its behalf.

6 Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing to theShow Secretary at his/her office before the close of the Show and the individual must produce evidence of identityat the time of lodging the complaint.
