Welcome aboard!Congratulations on becoming the Group Administrator of one of the manyBITSAA International initiatives on the BITSAA.org portal!
The group admin has all privileges to manage online activities going on in theinitiative’s group section. As you go along exercising these privileges, you willpick up more details about the same.
In the following guided tour, we attempt to introduce you to some of theintroductory features you should know before you begin your distinguishednew role as a portal administrator at BITSAA.
Not to mention, at any time, if you face a difficulty, you can get back to theBITSAA Technology Team. We are just an email away!

Identify your admin privileges1
Description
Upon visiting the initiativegroup home page (like the oneshown in the figure), youshould be able to identify the‘Group Admin Options’ drop-down as marked here.
If you are able to see this,bingo! You now have the givenprivileges to administer thisgroup section.

1. You can add a brief textabout the purpose of thegroup and its activitieshere.
2. This is the text that appearson the landing page of yourgroup. You can edit this asper your requirements. Itsas easy as using Word! Youcan insert photos, media,Flash presentations here.

Description
1. Custom Pages are variousadditional content pagesthat you want to appearinside your group section.You can add one or morecustom pages from thismarked link. Again, makingthe custom page is assimple as typing in Word!
2. List of all custom pagesattached to your group. Youcan change the order theyappear in the menu (shownin inset) on the grouphomepage (the landingpage).

Description
1. BITSAA portal lets thegroup admin (and possiblyother group members,depending on the optionsset by the site admin) toupload files to be accessedby all group members.These files are stored ascollections (containingmultiple files). You cankeep collections private toonly group admin(s) oropen to all members.
2. List of all collectionscreated in the group. Youcan view and manage(add/delete items) in thesecollections from here.

Description
1. You can also createcalendar events and datesfor your group members tonotify them about a groupactivity. The ability tospecify time zone is foreasy integration of theevent in members’ favoritecalendar program.
2. What more? You can evenset recurrence settings ifyou decide to setup arecurring event on a daily,monthly or weekly basis.
3. You also have a flexibility ofsetting up a recurrence by aparticular date.

Description
1. This list shows all photosposted by memberscurrently in your group. Youcan edit photo propertieslike captions anddescriptions etc. or chooseto delete the photos.
2. The photos posted on thegroup need to be approvedby the group admin i.e.you. Pay special attentionto the legend shown abovethe list. Once, approved thephotos will appear on thehomepage as well as uponclicking ‘Photos’ from thetop navigation links.

1. This shows all active blogsstarted in this group, listsdown the number of postsin each and shows lastactivity time.
2. You can approve pendingentries in the blog and setblog configurations like thename, description, auto-approval, who can post etc.from here.

1. Displays all members whohave posted membershiprequests to join this group.This depends on theoptions the site admin haschosen while setting upthis group, i.e. whethermembership request isrequired to join the groupor any registered membercan join.
2. After verification of themember’s credentials, youmay choose to approve ordeny the request to join thegroup.

Description
1. You can send a commonmessage to all members inyour group. You can chooseto attach a file along withyour communication too.The members will receivethe message in their profileinbox and will be notifiedover email of an awaitingmessage for them on theportal.
2. The text area of yourcommunication. Pleasenote this allows only simplemessages and not rich text.You can use emoticonsthough by choosing themfrom the set above.

1. You can send a commonemail to all members inyour group. Be careful!Please check to see if youhave selected the correctgroup to send the messageto from the marked drop-down.
2. The body area of youremail message.
Problems
If you get an error : “Sorry! Thefeature you are attempting toaccess is not permitted by yourmember type. “, its becauseyou are not registered as analumnus. We’re sorry, studentmembers cannot send massemails to group members. Ifrequired, you can contact theTech-Team or any other groupadmin who is an alumnus.
