Greenwin FIGHTS FOR

YOUTH

In early February, Greenwin building “The Oaks” played host to Mayor John Tory and Spider Jones as they teamed up to launch the Fight for Youth fundraiser. Taking place on March 5, the fundraiser will help to support Spider's Web, the after school drop-in centre for youth in the Chalkfarm area of Toronto. We are proud to support this incredible organization that has helped to change the lives of youth through boxing.

Returns!

Jessica Green

the Harold Green Scholarship

Team Greenwin Director of Corporate Communications and Branding, Jessica Green, returned to her alma mater of Queens University in Kingston to give a talk on e-philanthropy. Jessica spoke to university students from across Canada about harnessing the power of the web to raise funds at the annual Queens Conference on Philanthropy.

In January, Greenwin's own Cary Green was a recipient of the Order of York Centre. This award recognizes the achievements of outstanding members of the community in both business and philanthropic endeavors. Congratulations on this very well-deserved award, Cary!

Greenwin is thrilled to offer the Harold Green Scholarship once again this year! The program awards two scholarships worth $1,000 to very

deserving and promising young people who are a part of the Greenwin extended family. Know a

student who could use a little extra financial help to fund their educational dreams? Applications

open on April 1 and close on May 31. See the Greenwin blog for full details.

AND THE ORDER OF YORK CENTRE GOES TO....

Greenwin Spirit

The Spirit Committee kicked 2015 off with a bang by hosting a healthy

breakfast at our head office. The spread consisted of yogurt, fresh fruit, juice,

water, bagels and more. It was a delicious (and healthy) way to start the new year! We are eagerly anticipating more mouth-watering events from the

Spirit Committee throughout 2015.

February is the month of love, and Cupid certainly made his presence felt at Greenwin properties all over the GTA. Heart-filled decor decked the halls of many buildings, while

others handed out Valentine's Day treats on the special day. Check out our Facebook page for tons of pho-

tos from our spirited buildings!

When did you start working with Greenwin? I started working at Greenwin in late October 2014.

What is your current role?I am Tony Lyew’s office/insurance assistant.

What do you do when you start feeling overwhelmed on the job?I take deep breaths, stretch, and just remind myself to work steadily and do what I can.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?On my bucket list is learning to surf, ride a motorbike and to learn Mandarin.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Of the people still living, I would love to meet the Dalai Lama.

Our Q & A this month is with Storme Sen, office and insurance

assistant for Tony Lyew.

If deceased, I'd like to meet the actress Katharine Hepburn.

If you could try out one role within the company that is completely different from yours, what would it be?Maybe a role in marketing, as I worked in journalism and social media marketing during university.

What do you like most about working at Greenwin? The people at Greenwin make the workplace for me. It’s the friendliest work environment I’ve ever been in and my boss, Tony, is just the best.

Kris’ Korner: Spring Has Sprung (Soon)It's official - spring is almost here. It might not feel like it yet, but the month of renewal will indeed be upon us in mere weeks. At Greenwin, we love to stay as active as possible throughout the workday. Not only does it keep us healthy, but it's a great way to clear our minds and keep us sharp throughout the work day. Once the snow starts to melt and the warmer weather returns, let's all make an effort to get out for some fresh air at least once a day - even if it's only for 15 minutes. It's important to take time for ourselves and to stop and smell the soon-to-be-blooming flowers. Plus, the Spirit Committee has organized a yoga class for Greenwinites starting on Wednesday, March 25 in the kitchen. Join us to stretch into spring!

As mentioned in this newsletter, the Harold Green Scholarship returns this year to reward two outstanding students. Many of us know a student that is a part of the extended Greenwin family who will be entering university or college in the fall, so I encourage you to share the information about the scholarship far and wide. Eligible students can apply online at [email protected], and must provide a 500-word essay about their career goals. Also important to include are charitable/extra-curricular activities that they take part in.

Here's to a happy, healthy and successful spring! Kris

Here We Grow Again!

Join us in welcoming the following people to the Greenwin family!
