Members of the MYSTERY BOOK CLUB are meeting to dis-cuss the book Death in a Float-ing City by Tasha Alexander on Tuesday, October 7 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. New members are welcome.

Members of the PICNIC TABLE READS BOOK CLUB are meeting to discuss the book Every Day in Tuscany by Frances Mayes on Thursday, October 16 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. New members are welcome. PAINTING AND PASTRY: Local Art

Teacher Adele Karbowski is teaching a watercolor class on Saturday, Oct. 11, 18, 25, and Nov. 1 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The fee for the four week class is $40.00 and morning pastry will be served. Registration is required. Please call 949-3630 ext. 1 to register.

Students from the Painting, Pasta and Pizza art classes are displaying their watercolors in the Castle Display Case.

Author Peter Mandel is presenting MAKING YOUR BOOK A REALITY program on Monday, October 6 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Registration is recommended. Please call 949-3630 ext. 1 to register or sign-up on our on-line calendar at www.yourlibrary.ws.

The KNITTING MAVENS meet on Tuesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. New members are welcome.

The Library accepts used print cartridges for recycling. Pro-ceeds from the cartridges go towards Children's Programs, the Museum Pass Program and books.

Children’s Department

After School CraftCome to the library on Octo-ber 22nd at 4pm to create a Halloween Door Hanger Craft. Children ages 6-10 can join us to make this scary craft! Registration for this program begins October 1st.

Book Discussion GroupThe Share – a - Story Book Discussion Group for 4th/5 graders and their caregiver. We will meet once a month during the school year to discuss the same book we have all read that is chosen by the children’s librari-an. Our first meeting of the school year is on Wednesday October 8th from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. This is an informational meeting where we will discuss how the book group works and plan our meetings for the upcoming school year. Please call the children’s room at 949-3630 x2 for more information or to register. Come join in the fun!

LEGO EventIf you are crazy about building with LEGOS this is the program for you! Children ages 51/2 - 11 are invited to come to the library on Saturday October 4th from 2:00 to 3:00 to build with the library Legos.

Game DayEvery Friday is Game Day at the library from 3:00 – 4:30 in the children’s room. There are many board games available or you can bring your favorite game that you would like to play with others. Children ages 4-10 years old are welcome. This is a drop in pro-gram, no registration is required. Bring a friend or make a new one!

Bubble DisplayOctober is national orthodontic aware-ness month, so the children’s bubble will display orthodontic materials. This display is provided by University Ortho-dontics. So open wide and take a look inside the children’s room!

Apple Blossom Garden Club Children in Kindergarten - 5th grade are invited to the library on Thursday October 9th from 4:00 - 5:00 pm for a Fall Arrange-ment Workshop presented by The Apple Blossom Garden Club.Please drop by the children's room or call 949-3630 x2 to register for this seasonal afternoon of fun.

Play Learn Grow TogetherChild Outreach of Smithfield Tri-Town Head Start and the Libraries of Smithfield are sponsoring an exciting pro-gram at Anna McCabe School on Friday October 3rd from 12:30 – 1:15. This program is for children ages 3 1/2- 5 and their parent/caregiver. We will share stories along with other activities. You will have an opportunity to meet the pre-school teachers and make some new friends!

StorytimesStorytimes have begun at the library. Please call the children’s room at 949-3630 x2 to check on availability. Registration is required. We offer Turtle Time for children ages 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 on Mondays at 10:15 Toddler Storytime for children ages 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 on Fridays at either 10:15 or 11:15 and Preschool Storytime for children 3 1/2 to K on Wednesdays at 10:30 or 1:00 pm.

Art ProgramAfter School Art Class on Thursday October 23rd from 4:00 - 5:00 pm for children ages 6-10 years old . Please register for this creative pro-gram with artist and teacher Adele Karbowski.See you soon ! Upcoming dates are 11/13 and 12/18.

Young Adult October NewsYoung Adult October News

Baker AfterSchool CenterEveryday that Smithfield schools are in session, the center is open. Everyone between the ages of 11-17 or in grades 6-12 are welcome. The hours are from 2:00-5:30 on Monday-Thursday and 2:00-5:00 on Fridays. It is located in the Baker Room which is on the lower level of the library. There you will find computers, tables to use for homework or group projects and a librarian to assist you. No sign up is needed! Check our Facebook page for updates on special craft projects, snacks or gaming days.
