Green Spring Gardens Childrens Education Internship Announcement Summer 2019 Job Title: Childrens Educaon Intern Descripon: Green Spring Gardens is a 31-acre public garden with a 1784 Historic House that offers themed gardens for enjoyment, educaon, and inspiraon. Visit our website at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/ parks/green-spring. The Childrens Educaon Intern will assist with all aspects of Childrens Educaon: planning and conducng plant-based nature programs, assisng with all aspects of summer camps, gardening and other light physical work, developing teaching aids, and administrave dues and special projects as assigned. This internship is generously funded by the Friends of Green Spring (FROGS). Compensaon: Interns will be temporary, part-me employees of the Fairfax County Park Authority. Compensaon is $11.20/hour for up to 300 hours. Start and end dates are negoable. Requirements: Preference is given to applicants enrolled in a two or four year educaon program in environmental educaon, horculture, botany, or a similar degree program. Preferred applicants will have experience with and/or commitment to educang children. Internship responsibilies may include developing a project proposal, conducng project acvies, garden maintenance, and presenng a wrien and oral project report. conducting plant-based nature programs, assisting with all aspects of summer camps, gardening and other light physical work, developing teaching aids, and administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
