GREEK GOVERMENTThe ancient greeks intoduce the democracy that

means government by the people.

The assembly that elected the government was called ekklesia.

The person that not were allowed to vote were the womens and the slaves

This was an open area were all the merchants trade and were all the people were the most time of the day all the main buildings were there.

PUNISHMENT In the past the wrong doers in athens have to

be fined or could be exiled or their property can be taken.

The most unusual punishment was ostracism that was that the person have to leave athens for 10 years.

1.Daily lifeThe athenian life was very different for girls

and for men and ffor the rich and the poor people the rich people have rights and th slaves were property of other peoplethe women ere almost all the time of the day in her home.

JOBSAncient greeks generally were farmes their

farms were small it was goat’s farms and sheep’s farms.

They were also agriculture their main crops were olives and grapes

CLOTHINGMEN: they didn´t use sophisticated clothe

they wear a simple tunic made of wool.

WOMEN:they use a longer tunic that reach their ankle it was more elaborated and they wear a himnation over the tunic.

2.DAILY LIFEAthenians didn´t have large families the boys

were more valued that a girl there was a ceremony when the whole family give present to the new baby many mother have a slave to help them to care the baby.

CHILDHOOD GAMESUntil the age of 7 the children were brought

up at home they play with dolls and balls their parents tell their sons stories and rhymes.

SCHOOLThe poor child go to the school since 7 years

old they learned to read to write arithmetics and history from history writers.

The girls didn´t go to the school they have a tutor at home and they learn to write to read and to play music.

MARRIEDA girl get married at the age of 14-15 she can

not say about who married. The day before the wedding the bride made a sacrfice to one of the wedding gods(hera zeus artemis and apollo).

GREEK RELIGIONThe religion of the greeks was polytheistic.

The main gods were the olimpian godsthey live in the mt olympos all the humans pray for them to give to them protection and luck.

The gods were given human body and they have normal life in the greek mythology they directly intervened in human affairs they were too patrons of the cities like Aphrodite for Corinth and Helios for Rhodes.

TEMPLESThe temple were the place were the religious

actions take place this cremonies were carried out by priests.

At first they were simple only with a altar in a designated area but by the time the athenians built temples like the parthenon of athenea or the temple of zeus in olympia.

Religious games Athletic games and competions had a

religious purpose the most important games was the panhellenic games during this games there was a peace age between the polis.

PRIESTSThey was the people that organise and held

all the religious ceremonies all the people could be priest even the women they were selected becauese they were virgins or beyond menopause.

HERMESHe is the son of Zeus and Maia(a nymph) he

is the god of travel and trade and the zeus ´ messenger , he is the heaven messenger he is the fastest god his duty and he is the god of thieves, his roman name was Mercury.

His duty was to lead dead souls to the realm of hades

HERMES DESCRIPTION

His clothes are a winged sandals and a winged travellers hat and his weapon is a magic wand.

This is a very important sculpture they are Hermes and Dionisio that is because hermes was like a father to dionisio because he take care of him.

Myth of HermesBack in the days when Hermes was still an infant, he

once went out his cradle and started an adventure to Pieria, His aim was to steal the cattle from his half-brother Apollo. One by one he take all the herd and he put in a cave. Finally, he returned to his cave in Mount Cyllene. Apollo soon found out that his herd was missing and started searching all around. Of course, Apollo was the god of prophecy, so he soon found out the thief and went furiously to Mount Cyllene to find Hermes and he take hermes to be judge by zeus at first hermes denied everythinng but finally he accepted and he returned all the herd. The moral message is that if you lie you are finally get caught.
