Finding your way
Before traveling, download
maps of Athens and the other
places you are going to visit
in your cell phone, so that
you can use them to find your
way even without internet
connection!

Finding your way
Beat is an app that will allow
you to move around the city.
Insert the address you wish to
go to, tap on your
smartphone, and you will get
a taxi ride in just a few
minutes, at no extra cost!
Taxis are really cheap in Greece, especially if
you share the ride (3-4 students per taxi)!

Currency

Money
Call your credit card/debit company to
notify them of your travel plans.
Check international transactions fees.
The easiest way to get Euros (cash) is from
the ATM at any Greek Bank.
Plan on ~ $ 300-500 extra costs depending
on what you buy, where you eat, etc.
Be sure to have “cash” access
in case of emergency!

Money
Make and share payments with
friends in Greece!
You can pay friends with a Venmo
account using money you have in
the app, or link your bank account
or debit card quickly!

company to enable
international dialling. Your
options are: “pay as you
go” or “Travel Pass”.
To dial the USA: hit “00”(+) then “1”.
Download “WhatsApp”. This will be the group chat app once in Greece.
Take advantage
of Wi-Fi!!!
Download “Photocircle”. This will be the app
to upload & share photos in Greece.

Safety
Be smart… be safe!
Always
be careful, aware
& use logic –
common sense!
Do not carry
large amounts of
cash or expensive
items when out!
Always keep your
cell phone charged
(carry your charger
& power bank)!
Stay with the
group, avoid being
alone & use the
buddy system!

Safety
Always
remember your
way back & carry a card from the
hotel so you can
communicate where you need
to get back to!
Remember: if you
are not sure
about something, ask the program
director and staff
during class hours or a local during
free time!
Be smart… be safe!

Luggage
Knowing the rules of what you can and cannot
bring on-board and packing smartly is an
important step to make things smoother.
Your luggage will be tagged to your final
destination which is ATHENS. Take a picture of
your suitcase and the baggage claim.

Luggage
The dimensions of the carry-on baggage should
usually not exceed 22 x 15 x 8 inches (56 x 45 x 25 cm) and must weigh no more than 15 lb (7 kg).
Usual allowance is 1 carry-on
baggage plus 1 personal item like a
purse, computer bag or camera case.
Carry-on
Any liquid toiletries in cabin baggage must be in
3-ounce or smaller (<100 ml) containers, packed
in a clear 1-quart re-sealable bag.

Luggage
Pay attention to weight restrictions!
Most airlines allow for 1 or 2 bags to be
checked for free on international flights.
The exact number depends on the airline, route & class you are traveling in.
Checked luggage
Max weight is usually 50 lb (23 kg). The fees on an overweight baggage can be extreme, it is
sometimes cheaper to pay to check an extra bag.
