Registration InfoCurrent members call or email for user name and password to register online.

1. Online registration begins Wednesday January 30th at 5:00 AM at abgclub.org.

2. Mail-in registration must be postmarked and will be processed at random.

3. Walk-in, phone-in, and fax-in registration begins Wednesday February 6th at 9:00 AM.

4. Club membership must be current to register for programs. No notification will be given unless class is cancelled or is full.

6. Classes may be cancelled due to lack of enrollment. Fees will be returned.

7. There are no make-up classes or refunds for cancellation or absences, weather, mechanical failure or business interruption.

8. No REFUNDS or CREDITS for classes or memberships.

Inclement Weather Policyn When Arlington Public Schools delay opening the Club

will open at 11:30 AM and conduct afternoon and evening programs as scheduled. ABC Preschool will close for the day.

n When Arlington Public Schools are closed the Club will ATTEMPT to open at 11:30 AM and conduct afternoon and evening programs weather permitting. Check website for status.

College Scholarship AwardsEach year the Club awards multiple $500 - $1000 scholarships to current or past members whose community activities reflect the Club’s mission. Applications are available early February at the Club and are due no later than Friday March 22nd. If you or your company is interested in sponsoring a scholarship, contact Derek at [email protected]. A scholarship night will be held at the Club in June. Details to follow.

Special Events

Please join us on Friday March 8th at the Arlington Knights of Columbus, for the $10,000 Raffle! Doors open at 7:00 PM. Only 250 raffle tickets will be sold for the chance to win $10,000. Raffle tickets are $100 each. The drawing will include music, a cash bar, light appetizers, and auction items.

Jumpstart to Summer Open HouseSaturday March 16th, 2:00-4:00 PM You are cordially invited to a Jumpstart to Summer Open House! Come enjoy family activities in the gym including a moon bounce, music, and more. Tours will be available and staff will be on hand to answer any questions. Interested youth boaters 8 & up are welcome to take the 75-yard swim test promptly at 3:15 PM. Ready to sign up? Registration will be open at the front desk.

55th Annual Fun Run 342800-A1Sunday April 14, 8:45 AM. The Fun Run is a 2.7 mile run along historical Mass Ave from the Lexington line to the Club. We offer refreshments, raffles, and trophies for division winners and runner ups. North Shore Timing will record the finish line results. Everyone who finishes the race will receive a medal. GENERAL INFOGENERAL INFO

General InfoAnnual Child Membership Birth to 17 years - $30Membership is required prior to enrolling in classes. Children ages 6-17 can participate in the supervised Club Kids Program.

Members must bring their card and check-in each time they come to the Club. Members may bring a guest (must be 8 years of age). Guests 8-17 years are $5. Guests must be accompanied by a current member. Limit of 1 visit before membership required.

Membership Benefits:

Family Swim

Tuesdays 10:30-11:15 AM (limited 25 people), Fridays 5:30-6:15 PM or 6:15-7:00 PM (limited to 75 people) Open to all members and immediate family. Children must be accompa-nied by a parent in the water. One person in the family must be a current member of the Club. Suggested admission is a donation to the Arlington Food Pantry. No swim May 10. The last day will be June 7.

Parent Tot Connection Ages 1 - 4

This drop-in playgroup for toddlers and preschoolers meets at the Club on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. An adult must attend. The program provides participants an opportunity to play together and with others. Age-appropriate activities including music and movement and crafts will be offered each week. This program is offered with support from Thom Mystic Valley Early Intervention. Not offered February 22 and April 19. The last day will be June 7.

Sign-in ProcedureAll members and guests must sign in when entering the Club.

Club Bank & Snack BarYouth members can deposit any amount of money for the day and withdraw as they need. Money must be withdrawn at days end. Snack Bar open Fridays 5:00 PM for pizza.

National Boys & Girls Club Week April 8 - 13Join the celebration! Special events will be offered daily to mem-bers and guests as we recognize the invaluable services the Club provides our community. Visit abgclub.org for details.

Project LearnClub staff uses all areas and programs in the Club to create op-portunities for high yield learning activities to better enhance the “Club” experience. The Club is a place where members can

realize their full potential as productive and caring citizens.

High-yield activities (HYAs) provide youth with fun experi-ences that are hands-on, interactive and intentionally develop critical thinking or other skills.

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count helps Club members achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.

SMART Girls is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/edu-cation and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls.

Club Kids Program InformationA yearly non-refundable membership fee of $30 is required of all members. Membership fees are renewable one year from date of purchase. Members, ages 6-17, are supervised at the Club. The Club has an open door policy, which means members may go in and out of the building as they please. Parents should limit how far their children can stray from the Club. Children not mature enough to handle this responsibility should enroll in other programs with direct supervision.

Triple PlayWe implement Triple Play into our daily programs. This Boys & Girls Club of America program strives to imporve the overall health of Club member’s ages 6-17 increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships. Triple Play activities will be held Monday-Friday.

Club Kids Questions Ages 6 - 171. Are my children Safe? There are staff members located in all

program areas. All staff have background checks performed annually and have CPR and First Aid Training.

2. Can my child go outside? While participating in Club sponsored programs and activities, members ages 6-17 are supervised by Club staff and volunteers. However, the Club has an open door policy, which means that any member may enter or exit the building as they please during open hours. The Club relies on parents to set appropriate limits and grant permission to be on Club grounds. It is imperative that you establish and enforce rules about whether your children may leave the Club alone, or with other children. If your children are not allowed to leave the Club alone or with others, please plan to come inside the Club to pick up your children. The Club cannot be responsible for children prior to their arrival at the Club or if they voluntarily leave the Club.

3. What should my child bring to the Club? Children should bring a bathing suit, towel and a snack or money for snacks. Snack machines and drink machines are available. If your child brings money please check the money in at bank at the front desk. Money can be taken out as needed. Please take all money out at the end of the day.

4. What shouldn’t my child bring to the Club? Please do not bring expensive items to the Club. The Club is not responsible for lost items.

Project LearnThrough Project Learn, our Club staff uses all areas and pro-grams in the Club to create opportunities for high yield learning activities that will better enhance the “Club” experience for our members. We have a well trained and experienced staff that assist our youth in developing positive relationships with others. The Club is a place where members can realize their full poten-tial as productive and caring citizens.

Project Learn Program Descriptions

Diplomas to Degrees (d2d) provides a range of services to guide teens as they work toward high school graduation and prepare for post-secondary education and career success. Contact Dee at [email protected].

Healthy Habits: Through small-group learning experiences, Boys & Girls Club members ages 6 to 17 will learn to develop positive attitudes and behaviors related to nutrition and fitness.

Million Members, Million Hours of Service is a new initiative to involve Club kids and teens in service activities year round. Our Club will work to raise members awareness of community service opportunities and provide them with resources to un-dertake projects for their communities.

Smart Girls: a small group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of our girls.

Triple Play: We implement Triple Play into our daily programs. This Boys & Girls Club of America program strives to improve the overall health of Club members by increasing their daily physi-cal activity, teaching them good nutrition and helping them to develop healthy relationships.

Our mission is to provide a fun, safe, supportive place for children to learn and grow; to have ongoing relationships with caring adults; and to take part in life enhancing programs emphasizing leadership, character development, education, health and life skills, sports, fitness and recreation.

Youth Swim ClassesSwim Class RegistrationRegistration is limited to one swim class per session.

1. A waitlist will be established once classes are filled.

2. Participants must be at least six years of age to register for youth level classes.

3. Concerned about what level to register for? Contact Kim at [email protected] or Dan at [email protected].

Locker Room Safety Rules

1. Food, gum, beverages and glass items are NOT allowed.

2. Do NOT stand on the benches.

3. NO running or chasing in the Locker Room.

4. Shower before entering the pool.

5. Use of a cell phone in any of the locker room areas is NOT allowed.

6. The Club is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items.

7. Report all losses or injury to the Front Desk Staff.

8. All contents removed daily from lockers will be held for period of up to two weeks; unclaimed items will be given to charity.

9. Lockers may not be used to store items overnight. Personal locks will be cut off and discarded and items will be confiscated.

Locker Room Access 1. Children five years of age or younger may enter the locker

room of the opposite gender.

2. Children age six or older are not allowed in the locker room of the opposite gender; the family changing room is available.

3. Children age six or older may enter the appropriate locker room without adult supervision.

4. Use of family changing room is encouraged; please see front desk staff for key to use the family changing room.

Family Changing Room Policies 1. Priority use for the Family Changing Rooms is for families with

young children of the opposite sex of the parent, who cannot utilize the locker rooms to assist their children in changing into swim gear.

2. Please do not leave personal belongings behind when departing the family changing room.

3. Please see front desk staff for family changing room key.

Boda Borg Come join us for a questing experience. “Are you ready to break out of prison, win a TV game show, explore a haunted house and run an obstacle course?” You’ll do that and so much more in a visit to Boda Borg in Malden.

Tot Swim ClassesSwim Class Registration Limited to one swim class per session.

1. A waitlist will be established once classes are filled.

2. Children who register for a tot swim class without a parent must be at least 34 inches to chin level.

3. Children not toilet trained must wear swim diapers or rubber pants over diapers.

Locker Room Safety Rules 1. Food, gum, beverages and glass items are NOT allowed

in the locker room.

2. Do NOT stand on the benches.

3. NO Running or Chasing in the Locker Room.

4. Shower before entering the pool.

5. Use of a cell phone in any of the locker room areas is NOT allowed.

6. The Club is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items.

7. Report all losses or injury to the Front Desk Staff.

8. All contents removed daily from lockers will be held for up to two weeks; unclaimed items will be given to charity.

9. Lockers may not be used to store items overnight. Personal locks will be cut off and discarded and items will be confiscated.

Locker Room Access 1. Children five years of age or younger may enter the locker

room of the opposite gender.

2. Children age six or older are not allowed in the locker room of the opposite gender; the family changing room is available.

3. Children age six or older may enter the appropriate locker room without adult supervision.

4. Use of family changing room is encouraged; please see front desk staff for key to use the family changing room.

Family Changing Room Policies 1. Priority use for the Family Changing Rooms is for families with

young children of the opposite sex of the parent, who cannot utilize the locker rooms to assist their children in changing into swim gear.

ABC Preschool Ages 2.9 - 5ABC Preschool is proud to be celebrating 37 years of learn-ing and growing with the community. Our goal of the ABC Preschool located in the Arlington Boys & Girls Club, is to provide an age appropriate learning environment that will enhance your child’s physi-cal, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Children learn self-respect, respect for others and their surroundings, and a love for learning. We are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and our staff members are experienced, EEC-certified, and trained in first aid/CPR.

Our classrooms are bright, self-contained, and air condi-tioned with a beautiful view overlooking Spy Pond. All pro-grams include water adjustment in the Club’s heated pool, regularly scheduled times in the expansive gymnasium, and an introduction to computers in the learning center using age-appropriate software. Outside play areas include a private fenced in playground, a basketball court and ball fields adjacent to the Club.

ABC Preschool offers a variety of schedules at affordable prices. These include two, three, and five day preschool pro-grams and a pre-k program which meets five days a week.

This program also offers early mornings from 8:00-9:00 AM and extended days from Noon to 3:00 PM for an ad-ditional fee.

Kids Zone Ages 5 - 9This traditional summer program is designed for children ages 5-9 to explore, create, interact and stay active this summer! Each week will have a specific theme. Children will be grouped according to their age. Counselor to child ratio 1:10. Daily activities include:

Extreme Summer Ages 10 - 12How about adding an extreme adventure to your summer? This program has it all for your 10-12 year old. Whether you’re extreme-ly adventerous, super sporty, or a nature lover, we have a fun-filled summer filled with the right amount of excitement for your child. Transportation is provided by club vans, MBTA, or walking. This program is offered in one week sessions from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. Prices based upon activities offered. Fees start at $260 per week.

Next, we’ll look back to the mighty Mesozoic era and the dinosaurs who ruled the earth. Go back in time to inspect real fossils and find out how dinos got their names. Rocket Science ‘19 Ages 6 - 8A perennial favorite returns! Build and launch our favorite solid fuel rocket, the customizable E2X: perfect for the young aerospace engineer. Blast off with a solid fuel high-flying rocket launch at the end of the week (weather permitting). Classes taught by Wicked Cool for Kids.

Open Boating Ages 8 & UpOffered daily for those ages 8 and older from 12:30 to 4:30PM. Sailing, canoeing and kayaking available with basic instruc-tions given to new boaters. Boating games and island ad-ventures offered throughout the summer! Participants MUST pass a 75 yard, non-stop swim test in our pool, and parent or caregiver must sign boating permission slip at the front desk. Boating test will be given at the beginning of each free swim beginning March 6th. Fee $75.

Semi Private Sailing Lessons 8 & UpMUST pass 75 yard boating test. Great for beginners or ex-perienced sailors who want to fine tune their sailing skills for the annual regatta on August 14th! Children will learn water safety, self-rescue, tacking, jibing, boating knots and much more. Class size will be 1-2 boaters. Boating test offered at the beginning of each free swim, beginning March 6th. Registration available at the front desk once you pass the test. Card good for week of open boating. Fee $100.

Boating Exploration Ages 8 - 12Join us for boating adventures on Spy Pond. This program is designed for children ages 8 to 12. It will be offered in nine one week sessions. Activities include sailing, kayaking, and canoeing lessons. Children will participate in boating races, games, and exploration of the pond. Participants MUST pass the boating swim test (75 yards) prior to registering for this program. Boating tests will be offered at the begin-ning of free swim in the spring beginning March 6th. Youth Leader Program Ages 12 - 14Members ages 12-14 will assist Club Staff with programs and activities, earning credits for each hour of work. Leaders must record their hours worked each week. Positions include gym, pool, & boat aids, junior leaders, and kitchen help. Participants will work a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of four weeks. Trips and activities will be planned for youth leaders throughout the year. Leaders can use their credits to enroll in these activities.

Mandatory meeting Tuesday April 23rd at 6:30 PM for first time Youth Leaders. Each participant must have a current Club membership. Career Launch Program Ages 14 - 17Learn how to be a leader and gain first hand experience with the opportunity to work with children ages 3-12, while earn-ing credits for each hour of work. Participants will be exposed to a work environment that will teach them job skills including leadership, responsibility, and working with others. Trips and activities will be planned throughout the year. Participants can use their credits to enroll in these activities. Participants will function as Junior Staff assigned to a specific program. They will be responsible for assisting Club Staff in leading activi-ties and various other duties. Participants will be required to attend at least one workshop during the summer. Workshops will focus on skills including resume building, job applications, and money management.

This volunteer position can serve as community service hours. Participants must record their hours worked each week. Each participant is required to submit a Career Launch applica-tion, participate in an interview, and must have a current Club membership. Applications will be available online Wednesday, March 27th and must be returned to the club by Friday, April 12th. Spaces are limited, first come first serve. Club Kids Program Ages 6-17Join in on the summer fun! The Club is open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday for members ages 6 to 17. If your child is a member than he or she is a Club Kid and can take part in a wide range of fun activities offered each day throughout the summer. Games Room

Members can take part in activities including pool, bumper pool, foosball, air hockey, and more! Children may also take part in crafts and table games.

Free Swim

Swimming will be offered twice a day for children ages 6 to 17 Monday through Friday throughout the summer. All swimmers must pass a 25 yard swim test in order to swim in the deep end of the pool.

Open Gym

Members will be able to participate in open gym Monday through Friday throughout the afternoon. There will be a variety of games played each day at the discretion of the gym staff.

Sunshine Room

Air conditioned area designed to provide members a quiet place to play and take part in arts & crafts, games, and more!

Pond Room

This room, located right on the pond, is designed specifically for members ages 12-17. Play cards, board games, Xbox, or simply cool off in this air conditioned space.

Family Swim Open to all members and immediate family. Children must be accompanied by a parent in the water. One person in the family must be a current member of the Club. Family swim offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning June 11th.

2. Online registration begins Wednesday January 30th at 5:00 AM at abgclub.org for most classes.

3. Walk-in, phone-in, and fax-in registration begins Wednesday February 6th at 9:00 AM.

4. Club membership must be current to register for programs.

No notification will be given unless class is canceled or is full.
