Course Selection Procedures• Choose 6 – 8 courses and 2
alternates– 6 courses if at the end of Gr.
11 you will have earned 24 credits
– 7 courses if at the end of Gr. 11 you have earned 23 credits
– 8 courses if at the end of Gr. 11 you have earned 22 credits
• Remember to include compulsory failed courses
• Course selection sheets will be reviewed
Type the school website: jvh.ycdsb.ca Click on ‘Career Cruising Login’ in order to make your course selectionsEnter your username and password
•Username is ‘YC-’ plus your student number
•Password is your birth date: month + date + year OR the same you used last year
•You will be required to change your password when you log in for the first time
•E-mail address is required

Applying to university you need:
•6 U or M Grade 12 courses including…•ENG 4U + 5 other ‘U’ or ‘M’ courses•Some universities/programs require more than one ‘U’ course.
Applying to college you need:
Applied Degree: (4 years)6 Grade 12 ‘U’ or ‘M’ courses(Pre-requisites must be at the ‘U’ level)
Diploma: (2-3 years)ENG 4C or 4U + other prerequisites(Courses can be all ‘C’ level)
Certificate: (1 year)ENG 4C or 4U + other prerequisites(Courses can be all ‘C’ level)

•Print the Course Selection sheet, sign and date it, have your parent/guardian sign and date it.• Hand the sheet to your homeroom teacher along with your Activity Fee of $100.00.•Late Registrations will be put on the wait list for September.•NOTE:•ALL students should complete a Course Selection sheet, even if you are not planning on returning.

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION• Coop education is a planned learning experience for which credits are earned• The Cooperative Education course consists of a classroom component and a
placement component• Students can earn 2, 3, or 4 additional credits in a subject area• The coop experience assist students to explore and prepare for future careers
and make a successful transition to post secondary education, an apprenticeship, or the work place
• Students requesting Cooperative Education need to select it on the online course selections– COOPHD – 2 credits– COOPTD – 3 credits– COOPFD – 4 credits
• You also need to pick up an application from the COOP Office• STUDENTS MUST GO THROUGH AN INTERVIEW PROCESS TO
QUALIFY FOR COOP EVEN IF YOU ALREADY HAD COOP IN GRADE 11
