GPS-Enabled You Are Here Regional Parks Maps Use a GPS-enabled map partnered with your smart phone to help you navigate our Regional Parks with more confidence*! Smart devices (phones and tablets) can accommodate GPS-enabled maps by capitalizing on the device’s internal global positioning system (GPS). When a map is ‘geo-referenced’, the positioning marker travels across the screen as the device moves, allowing the user to determine his location with respect to the map’s features. How Does It Work? On your device, visit regionaldistrict.com/pickapark and select the park you want to visit 2. Choose the “GPS-enabled Trail Map” link 3. Tap the map and choose Open in... (alternately, copy and paste the URL into the “From the web” entry field) 4. Choose PDF Maps. The map will load up to your device 5. In PDF Maps, select the map 6. To have your path followed, click on settings and choose Record GPS Tracks To use a GPS-enabled map you need to download a map reading application onto your smart device. Two options for map reading apps are shown below. Choose one that best meets your needs. GPS running with wi-fi or cell coverage may be more accurate depending on the situation, but GPS location alone is still good. The maps are only as current as their last dated posting. GPS doesn’t consume data, so once you’ve downloaded the map there isn’t a draw on your data (and if you use wi-fi to get your map, you don’t use your data at all). GPS doesn’t require cell service to operate, so it will continue to track you even if you don’t have any ‘bars’.
