Dear Fellow Mustang Enthusiasts, We continue to catch a break this winter with just a little snow and warmer temperatures. Some brave folks have been driving their Ponys to the Club meetings. Activities Director Tim briefed upcoming events at the Feb Meeting. Keep an eye on the website for indoor miniature golf on Feb 21 and a joint cruise April 22-24 with other Mustang Clubs to the HJ Ford Museum and the Mustang factory. Our All Ford Power Show Charity Event in June will be at Shults Ford’s new location. Mustang night at the Northway Starlite cruise will be July 29th and we will follow it up with a GPMC volunteer night there in August. It was great to see Ed S. our MCA Director at the Feb meeting as he continues to recover from a lingering ailment. As a reminder the next MCA National will be in St. Augustine, FL April 15-17, 2016 and the Mustang Club of America 40th Anniversary is in Indianapolis, IN Sept 1-4 2016. Get your reservations in early because they fill up fast. You do not want to miss the celebration of the MCA anniversary. The Vintage Grand Prix is coming up in July. It is a great charity event with a lot of cars and enthusiasts. GPMC will be setting up tents with food and drink and you can park your Mustang on the show grounds with other Mustangs. I am sure some members have great ideas for activities. Share them with the board or AD Tim. Also if you have an article for the newsletter, please forward to Scott. Jennie B. is still looking for new pictures and information of recent events for the GPMC website. Got pictures of cruises, events or your car, do not forget to send them in. Hope to see all 131 of you at our next meeting on March 2nd at Harmarville Kings. As always we would like to hear from you, brand new or long time members for any suggestions for improving Your Club. Tim the Tour Man’s Activities Round-Up Despite recent snow and bitter cold, the season for club activities will be soon upon us in full. Here's a list of dates and descriptions for Mustang-oriented activities coming up over the next several months. Note: GPMC events are listed in bold. Sunday, February 21, 2016 - 7th Annual GPMC Miniature Golf Invitational at Monster Mini-Golf, Monroeville, PA. If you haven't signed up yet, there's still room for more in this fun event! The weekend of April 16-17, 2016 - opening weekend at Watkins Glen International race course, Watkins Glen, NY. For a $25 charitable donation, the track is available for 3 paced laps. The Finger Lakes region is beautiful with activities like the Watkins Glen Gorge, winery tours, and the Corning Museum of Glass close by to round out a weekend. Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24, 2016 - Weekend trip to The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village with Berks County Mustang Car Club and Mustang Club of Central PA. GPMC would leave Friday morning to arrive in Dearborn, MI at The Henry Ford by early afternoon with the opportunity to take the Rouge Factory Tour of the factory that produces F-150 pickup trucks. Saturday will be spent touring the museum and neighboring Greenfield Village. Sunday sees a stop for a photo-op at the Flat Rock factory, home of Ford Mustang production since the 2005 model year (sorry, they do not offer tours). If you want more information, join the mailing list by emailing Tim at [email protected] Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1, 2016 - NMRA (National Mustang Racing Association) will be holding the 16th Annual Ford Motorsport Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Maple Grove, PA, near Reading. Some members have approached me to see if anyone else wants to go along. Here's a chance to show your car or even race it! Information and pricing is at http://www.nmradigital.com/2016-event-info/reading-pennsylvania-general-info/ Please let me know if you're interested in going. If there's enough interest, I will look into getting a block of hotel rooms. As a bonus, I believe there might be a one-day charity road rally in the Reading area on Sunday. Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 5, 2016 - Carlisle Ford Nationals at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA. Several members attend this annual mega-event. In fact, Dwight's Sea Foam MacLaren has been accepted to the invitation display, so congratulations Dwight! Additionally, this year the organizers are planning on making a giant American flag using Mustangs, so if you have a red, white, or blue Mustang, visit the Carlisle website (www.carlisleevents.com) to apply for a spot in this special photo opportunity. Sunday, June 12, 2016 - The GPMC All-Ford Powered Show at the new location of Shults Ford in Harmarville. Details will be forthcoming for this event. Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19, 2016 - The annual Can-Am weekend, where GPMC joins up with the Lake Erie Mustang Owners Club, Mahoning Valley Mustangs, and Niagara Classic Mustangs for a weekend of fun and fellowship. This year's weekend will be hosted by LEMOC in the Erie area. Look for more details to come for this event. Monday, July 4, 2016 - Leetsdale Independence Day Parade, Leetsdale, PA. Last year we had a great time throwing candy to the kids (it's practically expected). Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24, 2016 - Mustangs on the Niagara MCA Show Friday, July 29, 2016 - Mustang Nite at Starlite Car Cruise in Wexford Sunday, August 7, 2016 - GPMC Hospitality Picnic at Moon Park. Look for more information and the chance to sign up to help out on the GPMC website as this event draws nearer. BIG News Dwight H’s, 1990 Seafoam Aqua McLaren was accepted for the Carlisle All-Ford Nationals June 3-6.
Al P. was able to reserve the pavilion for the 2016 GMPC Hospitality Picnic. The date is Sunday, August 7th at the Rotary Pavilion, Moon Township Park. This is the same Pavilion we were at last year.
