How Does A Bill Become a Law?The Bill starts as someones idea.

The idea is sent to a Representative in the U.S. House of Representatives.

U.S. House of RepresentativesThe House of Representatives writes the Bill.

The Speaker of the House sends the Bill to one of the House standing committees.

The Bill is reported to the House floor,

passes in the House of Representatives, and

is certified by the Clerk of the House.

SenateThe Bill goes to the Senate to be voted on

It passes in the Senate and is sent to the President

PresidentHas THREE Choices:

Can REFUSE to sign - Veto the BillCan do NOTHING Pocket Veto the BillORCan SIGN and PASS the Bill

The Bill becomes a Law!Signed and Passed by the President
