GOOD FOOD AND WINE SHOW EXCURSION 2019

Dear Parent or Caregiver

An excursion for Year 10 and 11 Hospitality has been planned to the Sydney Good Food and Wine Show for Wednesday 19th through to Saturday 22nd June 2019.

This activity is complementary to the syllabus requirements for Hospitality – Kitchen Operations.

Venue: International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour

Date: Wednesday 19th June 2019 - Saturday 22nd June 2019

Accompanying staff: Mrs A. Maddalena and Mrs D.Ellis

Time: Depart: Wednesday 19th June students to meet at Broadmeadow Station at 11.10am ready for 11.30am departure.

Return: Saturday 22nd June, 9.48pm Broadmeadow Station.

Cost: $230.00

This cost will include accommodation only. Money will also need to be supplied for the cost of transport and meals. We will try to keep this cost to a minimum.

Transport: Students will travel by train and walking during the 4 day excursion

Refunds: Parents/carers and students should note that in the event of a student being unable to attend the excursion after payment of fee they may forfeit their payment due to commitment to pre-purchase of tickets, transport or venue fees. Exceptional circumstances will be considered upon application.

Student Agreement

To ensure that both you and your parent(s) or carers are fully aware of the code of behaviour that is to be adhered to whilst you are under the care and supervision of other teachers and myself, I would like you to read the following list of points. If, and only if, you accept to abide by these conditions are you to sign your name. I would ask that one of your parents or your guardian also signs the form. 1. Smoking will not be tolerated. This rule applies from the time you arrive until your return at the

conclusion of the program. 2. Any dealings with alcohol and/or drugs are expressly forbidden. The consequence of breaking

this rule is being sent home and for drug offences also having the police notified. Your removal from the excursion and return home will be at your expense.

3. You are bound to observe not only the directions given to you by members of staff, but from any

other adults supervising you during the excursion. 4. At the end of each evening, it is most important that you observe the following procedure. At

the designated bed time, you are to move directly to your room and prepare for bed. When the lights out visit from you teacher is given, you should be in bed and ready for sleep.

5. Your behaviour generally should be such that it brings credit to yourself, your family and your

school. 6. It is compulsory for seatbelts to be worn (if available) if traveling by plane, shuttle bus, and taxi. You should see yourself as indeed fortunate to be attending such an excursion, as there are many students who do not get this opportunity. Responsible behaviour should ensure a great time for both students and staff attending.

Excursion Itinerary

Wednesday 19 June

1. Students are to meet Miss Maddalena and Mrs Ellis at Broadmeadow Train Station at 11.10am for

an 11.30am departure. We will be travelling from Broadmeadow Station to Town Hall Station via

Strathfield. Arrival at Town Hall Station will be at 2.07pm.

2. Walk from Town Hall Station to our accommodation at the Breakfree on Clarence Hotel, Sydney for

check-in.

3. Walk to the Good Food and Wine Show, International Convention Centre Darling Harbour for a

Back and Front of House Induction at 6.00pm.

4. Return to accommodation for the evening.

Thursday 20 June

Group 1:

1. Walk from accommodation to the Good Food and Wine Show for an 8.00am start.

2. Remain at the venue until 4.00pm.

3. Return to accommodation for the evening.

Group 2:

1. Walk from accommodation to the Good Food and Wine Show for a 3.00pm start.

2. Remain at the venue until 11.00pm.

3. Return to accommodation for the evening.

Friday 21 June

Group 1:

1. Walk from accommodation to the Good Food and Wine Show for an 8.00am start.

2. Remain at the venue until 4.00pm.

3. Return to accommodation for the evening.

4. Walk to Town Hall Station to catch the 7.07pm train to Broadmeadow Station. Arrive at

Broadmeadow Station at 9.48pm.

6. Parents to collect students from the station on time.

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE:

Students will have periods of time when they are not working at the Show. During this time, students will

be trusted to move in groups to various locations around the Darling Harbour vicinity for the purchase of

meals and some sightseeing options. While students will remain in close contact with the staff members

attending it is important that parents are aware that students may not have direct supervision at all times.

Similarly, when working at the Show, students will be under the direction of the Head Chef and while a

staff member will be at the show at all times, students will not be directly supervised at all times.
