It is specifically useful for pitch practice, intervals, chords, and scales. If you are just beginning to start learning about ear training, this website will be good practice. It is easy to access and is consistent in its teachings throughout. 1. The Ear Trainer website is very simple; you will first go to the homepage, shown below. 2. 1. The Ear Trainer website is very simple; you will first go to the homepage, shown below.

2. The next thing you will do, is click on the ear training button at the top of the page, highlighted by the white oval, to begin your training, is click on the BEGINNER button on the middle left hand side of the page, highlighted by the black box. There will be three sub links below the beginner button. They are titled as followed, simple intervals, major/minor, and more intervals, highlighted by the black oval.

3. You can click on one of the links to get to practice, when you click on the simple intervals link, this page pops up, you will then hear an interval being played on the piano, and you must select which choice you think is the correct interval being played, then you click the SUBMIT button to submit your answer. If you want to play the interval again, just click the play/ button, highlighted by the black oval.

4. If you answer the question correctly, you will move on to the next question, but if you answer the question incorrectly, then you have the choice to move on or to try the question again. If you want to change your settings, on the right side of the page you will have Options: this is where you can change the piano playing the interval, the volume, the tempo, and if you want the correct answer shown or not.

5. When you click on the minor/major link, the following page will pop up. You will hear an interval being played, and you must select if the interval being played is major, or minor. Then, to submit your answer, click the SUBMIT button below the answer choices. You can play the interval again by clicking the play button, just like in step 3. Step 4 will apply to this link as well.

6. When you click on the more intervals link, this page pops up, you will then hear some interval being played on a piano, and you must select which choice you think is the correct interval being played, then you click the SUBMIT button to submit your answer. If you want to play the interval again, just click the play button, like in step 3. Step 4 will apply to this link as well.

7. The next link you click on is the one that says Intervals, and you will be given a list of choices for practice on the topic. The following choices are listed, simple intervals up, simple intervals down, simple intervals up/down, simple intervals together, diatonic intervals up, diatonic intervals down, diatonic intervals up/down, diatonic intervals together, chromatic intervals up, chromatic intervals down, chromatic intervals up/down, chromatic intervals together.

8. When you click one of the exercises, this page will pop up. You will hear an interval being played and you must choose the correct interval being played. You must then click the SUBMIT button and move on, if you are correct or incorrect, or redo the question, only if you answered the question incorrectly.

9. When you click the chords link, you can click on one of the exercises. You will hear a chord being played and you must determine whether it is major or minor, or what specific chord is being played. Steps 3 and 4 will then apply.

10. When you click on the Scales link, you will be given many choices, to do every scale, click the all link and this page will come up. You will hear a scale being played and you must determine which scale is the scale being played. And steps 3 and 4 will, once again, apply.

11. When you click the Cadences button, you will have two choices of cadences bases or just cadences. You will hear a cadence being played once you click on the link and you must select which cadence is the cadence being played. Steps 3 and 4 will apply.

12. When you click the Jazz Chords button, you have many choices. To cover all of them, click the all link. And you will hear a jazz chord being played and you must select the correct name for the jazz chord that was played. Steps 3 and 4 will then apply.

13. When you click on the Note Location button, you will either choose chromatic, or diatonic and this will pop up. You will hear a series of notes and you must select the correct answer choice that corresponds with the notes that were played. Then, steps 3 and 4 will apply.

14. When you click on the Perfect Pitch button, and you choose your sub link, you will hear a note, you must then select the correct letter name for that note. Steps 3 and 4 will then apply.

15. For additional links go to the top of the page and click the LINKS button, highlighted by the black oval. To go to the home page, click the HOME button, highlighted by the black box. to learn more about this website, click the ABOUT button, highlighted by the white box.
