• (1) copy of the Landscape Irrigation System Installation & Maintenance training manual ($50 value). Manual will be mailed upon receipt of registration.

Topics covered will include:• Sprinkler Types, Nozzles and Spacing - Swing Joint Assemblies• Pipe Fittings and Connection Procedures• Basic Pump Overview• Base Scheduling• Identifying Leaks - Understanding Flow - Valves• Understanding Basic Soil-Plant-Water Relationships• Electrical Principles - Voltmeter Operations - Testing Amperage - Testing voltage Resistance and continuity - Understanding voltmeter readings - Controller Electrical Operation - Understanding basic controller programming - Identifying components - Performing diagnostic procedures - Performing controller functions - Performing reset procedures - Basic controller ad component replacement• Transformer Operation - Testing incoming and outgoing voltage - Match transformer properties for replacement• Solenoid Operation - Testing resistance and incoming voltage - Identifying manufacturer - Identifying manufacturer specifications• Wiring Types - Determining wiring types and Size• Field Wiring/Wire Tracking/Valve Locations - Appropriate equipment - Equipment set-up and operational procedures - Proper splicing procedures• Sensors - Understanding how sensors operate - Flow - Identify sensors used - Proper maintenance and replacement - Following manufacturer’s operating procedures• Valves - Understanding how valves operate - Identifying valves - Installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair - Installing appropriate valve enclosure - Recording flow meter readings• Standard Drip Materials and Maintenance• Reading Friction Loss Charts - Managing friction loss and velocity• Pipe Sizing

No test is offered or required for completion. Each participant will receive a formal Certificate of Completion following The Indiana Irrigation Technician Training Program.
