H i everyone!I’m back! I know you thought our Social Director would be back this month but you’re stuck with me again. Our social calendar is a bit thin for May because we hope to be doing more riding.

It’s not too late to sign up, just let Dave Pattison know as he will be making the reserva-tions.Please support our social events as it’s a great time to connect and chat with fellow members.

Did You Know???

Did You Know Toronto Makes the World's Best Racing Bikes?Using the same tools and techniques as Formula One teams, Toronto-based Cervélo builds what have

been called the world's fastest and lightest bikes. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, athletes riding Cervélobikes won 10 medals, while in 2008 Carl OS Sastre rode a Cervélo bike to win Le Tour de France.

Did you Know Winnipeg Makes Most of the World's Scratch Cards?Walk into almost any corner store in the world for an instant win lottery ticket, and there's a good chance

your scratch card was printed by Winnipeg company Pollard Banknote. Founded in 1907, Pollard now has facilities throughout North America, however a significant amount of its lottery scratch cards are still made in Canada.

Did You Know the World's Best Cymbals come from New Brunswick?Where do the cymbals used by Rush, Keith Harris of the Black Eyed Peas, the Philadelphia Orchestra and

marching bands around the world come from? The small village of Meductic (population 300), located along the Saint John River in southern New Brunswick. SABIAN cymbals are sold in 120 countries around the world.Did You Know Trenton Makes Tons of Dinos?

No, they don't make dinosaurs like in Jurassic Park, but close. Research Casting International, the lead-ing company for constructing dinosaur remains, (casting, restoring, mounting, repairing), is located in a 45,000 sq. ft. airplane-hanger sized building in Trenton, Ontario. The company has created more than 750 of the mighty beasts for museums around the world.

Hello again everyone. Here I am again, hoping to spread a little sunshine throughout the Chapter. As most of you know our Chapter Director & Social Director, Barb Pattison, suffered a heart attach last week. She is home trying to rest but you just can’t keep Barb down. She’s waiting for an appointment with a specialist hopefully some time in the next couple of weeks. We wish her well. And speaking of heart problems, Darryl Tryan is recovering well from his heart surgery, but arthritis is keeping him from enjoying his recovery. Our thoughts are with Don & Diane on the passing of Diane’s father recently. Diane is also having some sciatica nerve problems so we hope these are resolved soon. Paul & Sheila Haller had a wonderful holiday cruising but got nasty surprise upon arriving home—a broken sump pump and a foot of water in the basement. It’s all cleaned up now though, and ready to redecorate.Andrea Randall is once again participating in the Relay For Life and she would appreciate donations for the cure for cancer. Please contact her!We hope our other members are hale & hearty and looking forward to getting those bikes out and riding.

Here is a recipe I found while looking for something light and simple; anything I can put in the oven is great.

Our very first Wingding! This is the first time since we have been in the GWRRA that the event has been within our normal range of travel for a two week vacation. Greenville South Carolina is not much farther than Tennessee so we have planned far in advance for the trip. We plan on going with Wayne and Lois,

heading south on Friday night over the Ivy Lea Bridge down I-81 to meet Laurie and Sylvia at Wytheville, Virgin-ia on Sunday, they having crossed the border at Niagara. Our motel rooms have been booked since February and confirmed a month ago. So we thought.

It is Wednesday and I am giving the Wing a pre-trip inspection when Lois calls and says Wayne has gone to Vancouver on a business trip but promises to be back on Friday. My previous experience with such matters leaves me pessimistic so I proceed with the expectation that Doris and I will be traveling alone till they catch up. Wednesday evening is filled with valve clearance check, driveline backlash checks, timing checks and a general inspection of anything that might go wrong. I see the neutral light stays on even when the gears are engaged, but the correction of this condition involves moving the motor so I note the problem for future reference. I close the shop and retire, there will be plenty of time to pack our gear tomorrow evening. We will be able to leave early on Friday since I can get off work at noon and we won’t have to wait for Wayne and Lois. I go to sleep reading the Virginia road map.

While we sleep two storm fronts collide over the north end of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The rain starts at 1:00 am and by 9:00 they have twelve inches. The headwaters of the Rapidan rise almost a hundred feet.Thursday is a long day at work. When I get home I spend the evening collecting tent, blankets, tools and travel-

ing gear for the trip. I do not take much in clothing, since I will as usual take advantage of American clothing pric-es while on route. Doris phones Lois to see where Wayne is and she assures us that he will be home soon. I tell her that we will leave at noon regardless, and go to sleep reading the South Carolina road map.

In Virginia most of the bridges of Madison County are now in Culpepper County.Friday morning is even longer than Thursday. When the clock hits twelve I am already in the truck waving good-bye to the gang. I pull in the driveway at 1:00 and hit the shower before the dust settles. Doris phones Lois who says Wayne will be leaving Vancouver any minute. I tell her we will drive slow.

It is hard to explain the exhilaration I feel whenever I hear the hum of the gridwork of the Ivy Lea Bridge un-der the wheels of the Wing. I look down to see the water far below and reflect on the fact that I will not encounter a single mosquito for the next two weeks. Already I can see those winding mountain roads ahead. We head down the freeway a little over the speed limit. This is not my usual riding style, since we prefer back roads, but want to get some miles behind us till we get to Virginia and then take it easy. We still hope to meet up with the rest of the gang at Wytheville on Sunday. It is two hundred miles to the Pennsylvania state line and we plan to spend the night at a campground north of Scranton so I let the Wing stretch out a bit.

It is past sundown when we cross the line into Pennsylvania. It is an hour later when we find the campground. We pull up to the kiosk as a light rain begins to fall. The gatekeeper says “sorry, no room left”. We look at each other in dismay. The thought of hunting for a motel in the rain is not appealing.I say “we don’t need much room, any place at all will do…” After a moments consideration the gatekeeper says “If you promise to be gone by nine a.m. I can let you into an unused handicapped site.”I reply: “We’ll be gone by sunrise. I’ll even walk with a limp.” Ten minutes later we are setting up the tent on a site about twelve feet from the john. The rain comes down a bit harder as we go to sleep.

Wayne lands at Toronto International Airport. He will be home about 1:00 am.

*40 years of marriage..*

A married couple in their early 60s are celebrang their 40th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romanc lile restaurant.Suddenly, a ny yet beauful fairy appeared on their table.

She said, 'For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this me, I will grant you each a wish.'

The wife answered, 'Oh, I want to travel around the worldwith my darling husband.'

The fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! - two ckets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands.

The husband thought for a moment: 'Well, this is all very romanc, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I'm sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me.'

The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish.So the fairy waved her magic wand and poof!...

The husband became 92 years old.
