    Gold refining equipment

Activated charcoal is widely applied as gold adsorbing material in gold mines. There are

many different ways to desorb Au(CN)2 from charcoal and then get Au and purify it , of them

there are mainly three inds .

1.Desorption and electrolysis in ambient temperature and pressure

This way was applied in the early stage. !nder the conditions of "##, 2.#$ NaCN and

".#$ Na%& as the desorption reagent and ' C voltage electrolysis is adopted. *ach

batch runs about '+ - hours. The technical process is simple, operation is easy, and low

in the cost. /ut the gold content of electrolysis is low and alloy is easily resulted, which has

to be depurated through a time0consuming separation.

    2. Adsorption-electrolysis in high temperature and high pressures

This technology came to use in "11, the adsorption temperature is "-# "#, the

    pressure is #.-34a #.3pa, ".#$ Na%& or ".#$ (Na%& 5 NaCN) is used as desorption

reagent. esorption time is "2 "+ hours, the process is continuous and the relative

e6pense is lower, but gold will stay in the electrobath for a long time and the following

    processing is inconvenient.

    3. Ethanol adsorption and electrolysis craft

At present, this way is applied in some mines, #$ ethanol is applied for preliminary dip

and distillation, desorption time is about "2 "+ hours. The advantage of the craft is that

desorption in higher density enriched fluid with small volume is possible, but the process is

not continuous, and the process is more troublesome compared to the former two.

The three ind of crafts above all involve electrolysis. Au in precious metal fluid precipitate

by negative plate during electrolysis, but other positive ions whose ioni7ation voltage is lower

than ' also precipitate and gold alloy is resulted.

/ecause it is diffcult to dissolve the alloy when gold concentration is between '#$

1#$. %ther metals has to be added into the alloy for further smelting (generally Ag). 8hen

the proportion of Au drops to less than '#$ ,other impurities are dissolved with the acid

and separated from gold. This process brings much difficulty for smelting, and renders the

loss of Au, especially in the process of recycling Ag.
