Nanoparticles of gold, silver, iron oxide, silica, and carbon find applications in bioimaging, biosensing and targeted drug delivery.1-4 Appropriate surface modification allows for the conjugation of nanoparticles to a wide range of biomolecules including peptides, antibodies, nucleic acids as well as therapeutic agents. Conjugation to highly specific affinity reagents can enable delivery of nanomaterials and preferential accumulation in the area of interest, leading to enhanced therapeutic efficacy and reduced cytotoxicity. Aldrich® Materials Science offers a wide selection of nanomaterials for biomedical applications.
