TRANSCRIPT
A long time ago – back in the Old Testament days- lived a guynamed Abram.
Later, his name waschanged toABRAHAM .
Not to be confusedWith Abraham Lincoln
One day, God spoke to Abram
I will shield you from danger
That scared Abram
But God said, Relax Abram! And have no fear.
Really God? I don’t see how a reward is going to be of any use to me. I’m already an old man and I don’t have any kids …
But Abram was not impressed,
…So, even if you do give me a reward, I won’t have any descendants to pass it down to when I’m gone.
Relax Abram, sighed God.
You will have loads of descendants
Go outside &
Look up
You will have as many descendants as there are stars, okay Abram? So don’t worry about it.
Abram knew God would keep his promise and because of that
God was very pleased with Abram.
Wait! This story isn’t over!
God reminded Abram how a long time ago, he had led Abram and his family from the terrible city of Ur where they worshipped
And brought them to live in this beautiful land
But Abram was skeptical… For real, God? How do I know this beautiful land will be mine?
What happened to Abram’s faith?!
Abram fell into a deep sleep. And God spoke to him again…
Then, as the sun was going down…
Abram, your descendants will be captured, be made slaves, and have horrible lives…
For four hundred years
God said…
But eventually they will leave that horrible place
Remember Moses parting the
Red Sea???????
And they’ll take their captors’ when they go.
God continued…
Then God reminded Abram of his promise
I promise to give your descendants all the BEST land…
All the way from down here in Egypt
to way up here. That’s a lot of land!!
