Goals for
Student
Achievement
Students at Home and at School
Every child is expected to work toward mastery of the Georgia Standards of Excellence. While the commitment and work of parents and teachers significantly impact student achievement, students also play an important part in their own growth, progress, and learning. In order to maximize academic growth this school year, students will:
Remind parents and family members about family curriculum nights.
Bring home monthly newsletter and share it with family members.
Read 20-30 minutes each night.
Practice multiplication facts every day.
Set academic goals and work to achieve those goals.
Teachers, Parents, and Students – Together for Success
At Home As a child’s first teacher, parents play a vital role
in ensuring the academic success of their children
and have a substantial impact on their academic
achievement, school attendance, self-esteem, and
motivation to succeed. In an effort to help
students meet or exceed learning goals, Taylor
County Upper Elementary School parents commit
to support the children, teachers, and school by:
Reviewing student planners daily and
discussing with students assignments,
vocabulary words and math skills that
they are learning.
Encouraging students to read for at least
20 minutes each day.
Practicing multiplication facts daily.
Attending school-wide events to learn
academic strategies that can be used at
home.
Motivating students to set and work
toward personal learning goals.
\
In the 4th Grade Classroom Teachers will work with students and their
families to support students’ success in reading
for comprehension (understanding), as well as the
mastery of math facts by the end of 4th grade.
Teachers will:
Provide families with books on the
student’s reading level so that they can
read together at home.
Provide families with login information
for Pathblazer and USA Test Prep for
students to work on mastery of
academic standards.
Offer at least one math and one literacy
family night, where teachers will
demonstrate academic strategies that can
be practiced at home.
Our monthly newsletter will feature a
list of apps and family-friendly websites
for building vocabulary and math skills.

What is a School-Parent Compact?
A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an
agreement that parents, students, and teachers
develop together. It explains how parents and teachers
will work together to make sure all our students reach
grade-level standards. This compact helps bridge the
learning connections between school and home.
Jointly Developed
This compact is developed to meet the needs
and goals of our school and students.
The parents, students and staff of Taylor
County Upper Elementary School worked
together to develop this School-Parent
Compact.
Meetings are held each spring to review the
compact and make changes based on student
needs.
Parents are welcome to contribute comments
at any time. If you would like to provide
feedback or volunteer to participate in the
parent involvement process, please contact
