Culture- Food Foods are usually spicy (but not hot), and tasty rather than healthy — many dishes are prepared with lard or deep-fried. The national spice is paprika and the national dish is goulash- a thick paprika-laden stew.

Meat is popular- especially pork (sertés), beef (marha) and venison (őz). The best fish in Hungary are river fish: Carp (Ponty) and Fogas (Zander). You will also find game birds in smarter restaurants and country areas- Pheasant (Fácán), Partridge(Fogoly) and duck (Kacsa). Goose liver is a popular dish tourists normally try!

A typical meal will involve soup, often like a consommé, meat with potatoes (burgonya) and a side salad, and a dessert like pancakes (palacsinta).

Common snacks include kolbász, a Hungarianized version of the Polish kielbasa sausage, and lángos, deep-fried dough with a variety of toppings (mostly sour cream, cheese and/or garlic). A Hungarian meal is almost always — even at breakfast — accompanied by Hungarian pickles called savanyúság, literally "sourness".

Culture- Traditions Hungary has rich folk heritage which is found in museums or small villages. One of the folk traditions still around today is Busójárás. This is a carnival season where people dress-up in scary costumes and wooden masks and roam the streets to scare winter away.

Hungary is a land of thermal water and ‘spa culture’. Due to an advantageous geographical location, thermal water can be found with good quality and in great quantities on over 80% of Hungary's territory. Grand spa’s include Gellért Baths.

Hungarian people believe in strong familial values and family is at the core of everyday life. Hungarian people also invest time in nurturing long-term friendship relationships.

Hungarians are artistic people, known for wide interest in music, poetry, literature, art, chess, science, and mathematics. They appreciate talent, humour, knowledge and sensitivity. Hungarians are also talented in sports including- fencing, wrestling, pentathlon, swimming, water polo and canoeing.

Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore- Citizens do NOT require a Visa to enter Hungary.

Mainland of China, Indonesia- Citizens require a Visa to enter Hungary. This is the Short-term Visa.

As soon as you are selected in your project AIESEC in both countries will provide you all the information and documents before you apply for any Visa.

“GLOBE-KIDS”

Exchange Participants (EP’s) will have an effect on the childrens’ way of thinking with the general activities they facilitate in the Kindergarden. EP’s will teach the children English words, different songs and will share with them information about their culture through the given opportunities. Their main goal is to make the children accepting of differences between people.

“GLOBE-KIDS”- Job Description

Job Description 1 EP’s create an international atmosphere so children are able to learn English in a fun and interactive way.

Job Description 2 EP’s should prepare to organise and facilitate daily classroom activities including painting, colouring, teaching songs and poems in English.

Job Description 3 EP’s should also be prepared to talk about their cultural heritage (especially Australia) and create interactive activities for the children so they can learn more about the EP’s culture and traditions.

Job Description 4 At the first weekend, EP’s will participate in an Integration Weekend where they will receive the necessary preparation ton run the kindergarten classes and will also learn more about Hungary as a country.

Measurable Results Expected from the EP

It is expected that after the project, the vocabulary and pronunciation of English words by the children will be improved.

“Summer For Youth”Exchange Participants (EP’s) will help to run and facilitate a 2-week long camp for Hungarian high-school students. EP’s will run sessions based on communication training, team work and innovative thinking. The goal is to prepare the high-school students on how to think as an entrepreneur and how they can contribute to society.

“Summer For Youth”- Job Description

Job Description 1 EP’s will attend a camp for Hungarian High-school students. The main message the sessions should deliver is how to be an entrepreneur and what the value of an entrepreneur is in Hungarian society.

Job Description 2 EP’s will need to prepare and facilitate sessions about ‘communication skills’, ‘teamwork’ and ‘thinking in an innovative way’.

Job Description 3 EP’s should also be prepared to talk about their cultural heritage (especially Australia) and create interactive activities for the delegates of the camp- possibly link this to entrepreneurship e.g. what entrepreneurship is like in Australia.

Job Description 4 EP’s will be required to run sessions with other EP’s from all around the world!

Measurable Results Expected from the EP

It is expected that after the project, the high-school students will better understand what an entrepreneur is/does and how this career can add to Hungarian society
