GLOBE ONE DEGREE° AT A TIME

*What is Global Warming?

Global Warming is the rise of the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. This issue was projected in the late 19th Century. Since the 20th Century, Earth’s atmospheric temperature has risen more than its average taking. Meaning, GLOBAL WARMING IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST ISSUES THE WORLD HAS YET TO TAKE SERIOUSLY.

THE CAUSE OF GLOBAL WARMING:

*What causes Global Warming?

One of the major causes of Global Warming is the effect of greenhouse gasses emitted by humans. This action is referred to as the greenhouse affect. There are different greenhouse gases causing the effect of Global Warming; combustion of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity production. This is a big factor in trying to change our habits because subconciously, we use all these gases everyday. The major gas that is affecting us all is carbon dioxide (CO2).

*What is the effect of Global Warming?

The Earth is slowly, but surely, melting away; from the North Pole to the South Pole. Our weather patterns are breaking all time records in tempurature increases. More hurricanes are starting to appear as well as tornados. The melting of our poles and icy countries cause the sea level to rise faster every year. A major impact on the air we breathe has also been affected by Global Warming. In July 2006, severe heat waves in North America contributed to the deaths of at least 225 people.

*Who does Global Warming Affect?

Global Warming affects EVERYONE and EVERYTHING. From the plants and our soil to the endangered animals living in high risk spaces. Most common animals affected by global warming, are those in the Arctic such as the polar bears and pinguins. Global Warming also affects all of US. We all experience the natural disatsters and uncomfortable heat waves.

*What can we do to help Global Warming?4 ways to stop Global Warming; reduction of gas

emissions, stopping deforestation, fighting misinformation, and preparing for impact. Reducing gas emissions is the first main way to start controlling global warming. Union of Concerned Scientists really put effort in conducting ways to control and defeat global warming. A good way of doing so is stopping the misinformation of Global Warming. By stopping the misinformation and spreading the correct information, we can inform people to do the right thing rather the wrong. Another major factor in stopping global warming, is stopping the deforestation. "Tropical deforestation accounts for about 15 percent of the world’s heat-trapping emissions — more than the total emissions of every car, truck, plane, ship, and train on Earth." By doing so, we will be able to better control the heat trapping in the world.
