A message from the

captainWith Spring renovation works behind us and warmer weather bringing on the growing season, we are now seeing our course in excellent shape.

The huge amount of work associated with the ASR wetland scheme is now behind the maintenance staff and they are now able to concentrate on presentation issues around the course.

If you have had the pleasure of playing recently, I am sure you will have noticed the increased level of grooming.

To take this to the next level takes some effort from all members and guests. It does not take much, but it will have

a huge impact. Small items like raking bunkers properly with correct rake replacement, fixing plug marks, putting rubbish (like bottle lids) in bins and smokers disposing of the butts properly will add the finishing touch.

Be proud of our beautiful Club and golf course and help make it the “Club of Choice”.

Twilight GolfWednesday twilights have again proved to be hugely popular in 2009 with an average of 70 players taking the opportunity to enjoy the balmy evenings and challenge themselves over nine holes of golf.

Add to the great weather and course conditions, a fresh new menu and a selection of quality wines and beer specials, and Glenelg Golf Club has become the place to be on a Wednesday night for members and their guests.

Pro Shop staff have been doing a great job with presentations and the Lucky $50 Bar & Catering Voucher has been a huge hit once again for the lucky winners.

In an effort to capitalise on the success and popularity of twilight golf, we will be trialling some Friday night twilight events commencing in January 20�0. The first date on the

calendar will be Friday, �5th January.

In association with Friday night twilights, we will be running happy hours, with various drinks specials available during this time, culminating in a Lucky Member Draw at approximately 8:30pm.

Come along and enjoy the culinary delights of our award winning Executive Chef, Craig Jeffery, and take in the atmosphere and excitement of the Balcony. It has become a popular spot to entertain since work on the clubhouse was completed earlier this year.

Bookings are essential for dinner on Wednesday and Friday nights.

Details of the Lucky Member Draw are still to be finalised, but stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

Winery Challenge

This year was to be different and after much planning and asking myself the question “how do I go one better than last year” - would I be able to pull it off?

A beautiful sunny morning greeted players for the �3th Annual Winery Challenge. This year saw two shotgun starts, 232 players, 36 wineries/suppliers and $4,300 raised for the Fiona Pike Skin Cancer Awareness Campaign.

To all members involved in the day, we hope you enjoyed yourself and thank you for your generous support. To those members who did not play, mark the date into your diaries for next year - Thursday, 2�st October.

Congratulations to Penny’s Hill Winery and Larry Dooley Wines on being Champions for this year.

Thanks also to Mike Dobson and Jim Johnson as MC’s for lunch and dinner and also to Geoff Merrill – for those of you who attended the lunch you will understand why I say thank you with sarcasm!

From the GM’s Desk

On behalf of all the staff here at Glenelg Golf Club, I would like to wish all members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

2009 has certainly been a year of major change around the Club with many new strategies implemented to increase participation and enjoyment among members and their guests.

It has been an enjoyable but busy year from my perspective with the opening of our multi-million dollar Clubhouse redevelopment and ASR projects. Both of these major projects place the Club in a very strong position to capitalise on the increasing confidence within the South Australian economy.

We are already seeing increased interest in conferences, corporate golf days and more importantly,

membership, whilst members now have some of the finest and most modern member facilities in Australia.

I cannot think of a better place to enjoy a balmy summer’s evening with friends and family than on our Golfer’s Bar Balcony, with an outlook across our beautiful golf course and towards the Adelaide Hills.

We now have a great team of staff dedicated to providing the best level of service to members and offering an experience second to none among other golf clubs in South Australia.

More importantly however, we have a membership base who remain supportive and loyal to their Club, and who seem to be enjoying themselves every time they visit.

The Committee of Management and Staff are continuing to work hard to provide members with a quality course, clubhouse and member facilities, a friendly environment and the opportunity to enjoy their golf at all times.

We still have a long way to go, but we remain committed to meeting our strategic aims and objectives to better service our members and guests well into the future.

More changes are coming, but I can assure you that every decision made is being made by professionals who are passionate about their Club and with the best interests of the Club and its members in mind.

Glenelg Golf Club, one of the top four private golf clubs in South Australia, has been the first to recognise the need for forward thinking in response to current and challenging market conditions.

For the first time, golf clubs nationally are in a position where �0 year waiting lists are a thing of the past. As a result, clubs are having to pro-actively and competitively seek membership, a new concept for many. The global financial crisis has had a severe impact on spending habits, with a world decline in ‘luxury item spending’ - a golf membership unfortunately falls directly in this category and is perhaps for some families, not on the top of the priority list. This is having an effect on income and member retention for many clubs. We intend to overcome these challenges in our 5 year strategic marketing and business plan.

Through strategic development and marketing initiatives, Glenelg hopes to stay ahead of our direct competitors, by pro-actively generating and promoting our great Club as “The Club of Choice”

for membership and functions. It has been essential to create cost effective membership options such as Casual Pay as You Play, and Women’s Try Golf; memberships that have been created as a direct response to such trying market conditions. Above all, our challenge is to promote the benefits associated with a membership and change current perceptions. Membership is a lifestyle investment; one encouraging social interaction, freedom, exercise and a mental challenge... all outweighing the financial cost.

Through initiatives such as the creation of branded marketing material, a new website (live in 20�0) and a succinct communication strategy, our core message and brand can be extended to existing members, potential members and corporate institutions with the aim of growing revenue and interest for our Club.

Although we are a golf club, this business is not just about golf. To be successful we need to promote other key revenue drivers such as functions and events, weddings, corporate golf days, junior participation and

corporate functions. These are all considered pivotal for the Club’s long term success.

Initiatives such as these will result in a positive cash flow, permitting continued development of our Club to the advantage of all members.

Furthermore, efforts to work in conjunction with Golf Australia and Golf SA are at the forefront of our strategic thinking to ensure that Glenelg Golf Club is directly aligned with National initiatives, only adding strength to our message.

Most importantly, we aim to continue giving members a voice through market research evenings and general feedback forums. My door is always open and we appreciate any ideas and suggestions on how you feel we can help this great Club meet your expectations. Keeping our members happy is paramount. This, above all, is the business we intend to succeed in.

Overall, the start of this role has been challenging and rewarding, and I look forward to helping this proud and progressive Club strive towards even better things in the future.

Yes, we are doing it again! With such great feedback from previous Try Golf Clinics, we are once again offering Clinic options for women wanting to Try Golf, and who have not participated in a previous Try Golf program.

Based on its popularity, another option has been introduced to cater for those women who would like further tuition but have already participated in a Try Golf Clinic.

ROYAL ADELAIDE vs GLENELG BRONZE CHALLENGE. In our annual Glenelg/Royal Adelaide bronze challenge, Glenelg lost both legs. This is the same result as last year so we will be looking for a reversal next year. Our other interclub event is the GLENELG/GRANGE FOURSOMES and in September we welcomed Grange to our course when we were able to repeat our success of last year and retain the trophy.

THE RENE ERICHSEN SALVER was played at Glenelg on the 27th and 28th July. Josie Hodge and Sophie James played in the event but unfortunately were not able to reproduce their form of earlier in the year. The event was won by Bree Arthur (298) with South Australian Sarah King winning the third nett prize. At the conclusion of the event, the State team to play in the Gladys Hay Interstate Series was announced: Ebony Heard (Kooyonga), Sarah King (RA), Jovanna Bozanic (RA), Emma Ash (Kooyonga), Caitlin Roberts (RA) and Josie Hodge (Glenelg). Congratulations to Josie. Our state team had an excellent series finishing second and missing out on winning by the narrowest of margins. Josie played extremely well winning 3 out of 4 singles matches and 2 out of 5 foursomes matches - a great debut.

CHARITY CARD DAY. The nominated charity this year was the Fiona Pike Skin Cancer Awareness Campaign and 80 players including Fiona’s mother, Kay Johnson, enjoyed a lovely day beginning with morning tea of slices and coffee provided by the Women’s Commitee and later a luncheon of mixed sandwiches, slices, wine, tea and coffee. The Women’s Committee also very generously donated 6 raffle prizes, the winners being drawn by Kay Johnson. A total of $760 was forwarded to the Cancer Council with a special request by Fiona’s family that it be allocated to the Flinders Lodge Fund where all monies raised are being used to refurbish some rooms at the Lodge for use by country cancer sufferers needing to stay in Adelaide for treatment.

WOMENS PARTICIPATION IN GOLF. This year we have seen an increase in the number of women playing on Saturdays and I would like to encourage even more women to play in the Saturday morning timeslot. The Glenelg Women’s Saturday Championship was held over two Saturdays and the winner of both the event and the nett event was Josie Hodge.

MINDA DAY. For once, the weather was kind to us with temperatures in the mid 20’s rather than high 30’s, resulting in the course being full. This was very pleasing as it was the 40th anniversary of this event and Edward Scanlon, Executive Manager of Marketing at Minda, presented our Club with a wonderful trophy in recognition of this commitment. We were able to present Minda with a cheque for $�,464.00.

L’OREAL TROPHY. The L’Oreal Trophy event was played as an individual stableford event and won by Fiona Eblen with 4� points with other prize-winners being Patricia Whelan, Janet Fleer, Jill Stone, Cheryl Hunt and Judy Holst.

VARDON EVENT. For the first time this year, the men’s and women’s Vardon events were played on the same day and held on the Sunday following our Club Championships. Ebony Heard was the winner with �53, Josie Hodge was the runner up on �64 and also the best nett winner on �54. The combined field meant that the Anne Smerdon Invitational for juniors, traditionally played with our Vardon, could not be accommodated in the field so it was played in conjunction with the Boy’s Championship in August. The event was won by Kooyonga A Pennant player Amy Zhou.

Women’s Golf News

Our GOLF SA OPEN DAY was held on 3�st March in perfect weather. 74 Glenelg members played along with 33 visitors. The winners were Jane Bellgrove, Libby Neuling and Peta Laundy.

PEUGOT CLASSIC. This year we had 8� entries in the Peugeot Classic. The winners with a score of 78 were: Terry Phillis, Joan Marshman and Julie Tanti.


The CLUB FORSOMES were held in September. Winners were Ruth Martin/Jan Dale-Harris from runners up Cathy Symons/Janet Fleer. In B Grade, Dot Birt/Janice Fuss from runners up Jill Gehling/Wendy Vaughan; and in C Grade Helen Sallis/Jan Wheatley from runners up Pam Bown/Marg McCann.

In PENNANTS, our Grade � Women’s pennant team made the final which was played at Glenelg in wet and windy conditions. Our team played superbly, as they had done all year, defeating Royal Adelaide 4.5 to �.5. The following players contributed to our success this year: Christine Trimmer, Sophie James. Jill Hodge, Josie Hodge, Deb Christie, Cathy Symons and Jan Dale-Harris. Both the Grade 2 and Cleek teams had solid seasons without tasting the success of reaching the finals.

Club Pennant celebrations were held on the evening of the pennant finals and took the form of a cocktail party. During the evening, Jill Hodge was announced as the Women’s Pennant Player of the Year.

THE RHONDA WATSON BROOCH was held in August in cold, wet and windy weather. This year we had 20 teams competing (�9 last year) with the Glenelg team of Jill Hodge, Cath Symons and Jan Dale-Harris winning the gross event with a score of 254 (�9 more than last year). The Royal Adelaide team of Sarah King, Jill McEwin and Juliet Hugo won the Nett event with a score of 243. Club Captain, Paul McGrath, spoke to the players and Sue Tuohy represented Rhonda and presented the prizes.

HOSPITALITY DAY. A fabulous day with perfect weather enjoyed by �20 players, including 4� visitors and 79 members, in the middle of a heat wave. Phil Greig, General Manager of City Mazda, made the day special with his generous sponsorship, not to mention the chocolates and Baileys along with fruit and other drinks available from the course cart. One of our visitors was thrilled to win the raffle consisting of a Saturday night at McCracken Golf Club, 2 games of golf and a luxury Mazda for the weekend. The winners of the day just happened to be Phil’s wife, Wendy and Cath Symons.

MAGAIN REAL ESTATE GOLF DAY The Magain Real Estate golf day was very successful and enjoyed by 97 players in fine and sunny conditions playing in a 4BBB competition. The course cart loaded with champagne and orange juice proved to be a hit with the ladies again, particularly if their golf was a bit below par. The winners were Jane. Bellgrove, Peta Laundy and Judy Holst, with a score of 5� points from Jeanne Scardigno, Jill Gehling, Cathy Johnson and Jo Rawson on 49 points. Our thanks go to Jane for once again organising the generous sponsorship. This is one of the most popular events on our golfing calendar. Another wonderful day with the generosity of Jane Nelson and Barry Magain knowing no bounds. The many voucher prizes are extremely generous and appreciated by the winners. Proceeds went towards Junior Golf at Glenelg.

LONGEST MORNING TEA. Once again, the Ladies Committee excelled in providing slices for members to purchase with coffee. The catering staff were very generous in donating several prizes for the raffle and a total of $435.50 was forwarded to the Cancer Council.

OPEN WEEK. In October, we hosted silver players in a stroke event in Open Week where country players come to try out the city courses. Thank you to those spotters- you were certainly needed! Glenelg had no representatives at any Open week events, apart from Deb Christie from Lameroo, who is one of our A� pennant players.

Our ANNUAL MEETING occurred on 27th October and was held on a beautiful spring day. At the meeting we farewelled Jeanne Scardigno, Jean Roberts and Jill Gehling from the Women’s Committee and welcomed Jill Stone and Barb Deed with Jo Rawson returning for a new term.

2009 club championshipsWith the introduction of new events, almost double the players of previous years, a change of date to accommodate Tiger, and a battle that lasted the full 36 holes, this years’ Club Championship Events were some of the best and most eventful seen at Glenelg in recent times.

Many new initiatives were introduced to the Club’s match programme during 2009, culminating in the 2009 Club Championships and Trophy Presentation Dinner on Sunday, 22nd November.

Among the new initiatives was the introduction of the men’s A Grade, B Grade and C Grade Plates; handicap matchplay events designed to encourage more members to enter our prestigious championships and provide players with an opportunity to experience a different style of golf which very few members would have ever played in their golfing careers.

Along with the Plate events, the regular Club Championship events were played, and despite a late change of date to accommodate the many members visiting Melbourne to watch Tiger Woods, entries and interest in the events were well up on previous years.

Qualifying for the B & C Grade Championships, A, B & C Grade Plates and the Senior Championship were held over consecutive Saturdays in late October, while the 36 hole

Qualifying Rounds for the Club Championship were played on Sunday, �st November 2009.

After recently joining the Club again following a 6 month stint at Glenelg in 2006 whilst on a school exchange, our favourite German import, Lukas Richter, managed to highlight to everyone how much his golf had improved whilst home in Germany, taking out the RF Stevens Trophy, as leading qualifier, with rounds of 74, 73. James McDonald was two shots further back in 2nd place.

Scraping in to 8th place in a playoff was Simon Connelly who, following a 3-year stint on the bench raising his young family, returned to his other favourite past-time to pursue his dream of a Club Championship win at Glenelg.

Simon certainly showed promise early in the quarter finals, swiftly taking out the leading qualifer 2/� and then disposing of 5th qualifer, Anthony Olsen, 5/4.

On the other side of the draw, games were fought much more closely with James McDonald advancing through to the 36 Hole Final by overcoming 7th qualifer Luke Bashford 2/�, and then out-playing defending champion, Steve Leyshan in another close match, 2/�.

A week off between the quarter & semi finals and the 36 hole final gave players the opportunity to visit Kingston Heath in Melbourne for a rare opportunity to see the world’s best golfer, Tiger Woods, compete in the Australian Masters. He did not disappoint, taking home the title in a classic display of shot making.

Perhaps this was inspiration for some in the lead up to the finals, or perhaps not, but it is fair to say that any golfer who took advantage of the opportunity would be inspired in one way or another.

Going into the Club Championship final, it was anybody’s guess who would take it out.

On one side was an experienced campaigner who had been

unsuccessful in two previous finals but had been a member of two winning Simpson Cup teams for Glenelg. Simon Connelly had the determination and passion to win.

In the other corner was James McDonald, a young, reasonably inexperienced player by comparison, but equally as passionate and determined to get his name on the honour board.

The match itself lived up to expectations, and whilst the early golf was a bit rusty, both players stepped up their efforts after lunch.

After going into lunch � up, Simon raced ahead to be 4 up through 2� holes before James started the slow climb back. By the 27th hole, the match was evenly poised and pressure was mounting.

It became a survival of the fittest over the remaining nine holes, and after both players birdied the �0th hole, the scene was set for a fight to the finish. A miraculous recovery from the hay saved the ��th hole for Simon, but a birdie on the �2th allowed James to take the upper hand.

An easy par at the �3th took James to 2 up, but a solid shot into the par 3 �4th allowed Simon to get one back. James then won the �5th and with the �6th hole halved, James went into the tight �7th, 2 up with 2 holes remaining. After a wayward tee shot, James only managed bogey while Simon calmly stroked in a 4 foot par putt to bring the match back to � up with one hole to play.

The final hole proved to be the toughest for both competitors. After pulling his drive left, Simon was unlucky to catch the trees on the corner for his second and third shots. Meanwhile, James played two solid shots to within �00 metres of the green, but then managed to airmail his third into the back hollow.

Simon played to the front edge of the green for five and putted up close for a certain double bogey. It was then over to James to safely negotiate the back hollow and

two putt for victory. Despite an aggressive attempt that rolled almost �5 feet by the hole, James managed to control his nerves, and with a carfeully lagged putt to the hole, Simon conceded the putt and the Championship.

This was the first Club Championship win for James, who is also a member of the Club’s course staff, employed in the vital role of Irrigation Coordinator. Since his appointment earlier this year, many members would have seen James on the course, working in the trenches installing the Club’s new irrigation systems. Despite the workload, James has always found time after work to concentrate on his golf game, with the hard work finally paying off.

The 2009 Club Championship final was another great match, with some outstanding golf played by two well deserving members. It was a fitting end to a season of change and initiative aimed at increasing participation and variety, and demonstrating further how Glenelg Golf Club is now “The Club of Choice” for its members and guests.

Christine Trimmer won her fourth Women’s Club Championship in June, defeating Jill Hodge in a

closely fought match on the �8th hole.

In the B Grade Championship, Wendy Vaughan defeated Annette Rieniets, while Julie Moir beat

Libby Trim in the C Grade Final.

Boy’s Junior ChampionshipIn a battle of wills stretching the full �8 holes, Jak Carter took out his second Boy’s Junior Championship, defeating luckless Michael “Rat” Ratajewski in a stunning match of quality golf and sportsmanship.

In a match that could have gone either way, Jak came from behind to steal victory in the 2009 Boy’s Junior Championship, holing a 10 foot putt on the 18th green to claim the title. It was Jak’s second title, after winning in 2007.

On their way to reaching the final, Jak beat Will Carman in the semi-final whilst Rat defeated Sam Hynes in a close battle, 2&�.

The final started full of fire, with Rat making birdie up the �st hole, and Jak returning favour with birdies up 2 and 4 to go 2 up. Rat fought back to be � up at the turn, but when he found the wetland off the tee on �7, Jak pounced on the opportunity, winning the hole and getting the score back to square.

With the match all square coming up the last, Jak dunked his drive in the drink right whilst Rat played safe, laying up short of the water. Rat’s 2nd shot was played to about �50m from the green, whilst Jak dropped

and smashed 3-wood to about 80m out. Faced with a howling headwind, Rat turned over his approach ever-so-slightly, unlucky to find the greenside water and a penalty drop. Jak played safely to the rear of the green. Rat chipped to 8 feet and Jak putted up to approx. �0 feet.

Very calmly, Jak lined up his putt and solidly struck it into the back of the hole, leaving Rat with a pressure 8-footer to force a play-off. It was not to be as the putt snuck past the left edge of the hole, handing victory to Jak.

In the Handicap Championship, Henry Duregon displayed a fighting spirit to defeat left-handed newcomer, Braeden Kelly, on the �8th. Braeden had previously won the Winter Handicap Matchplay Trophy, going through undefeated, but his winning streak could not continue, with Henry holing a �2 foot putt on the �8th to win.

Men’s Club Foursomes Events. As part of the Club’s strategy to increase participation in golf events throughout the year, the Men’s Club Foursomes Championship was expanded in 2009 to incorporate an �8 Hole A Grade, B Grade and C Grade Championship, as well as the traditional 36 Hole Foursomes Championship.

The popularity of the event was acknowledged with almost double the number of pairings entering the 36 Hole and �8 Hole events compared with previous years.

The event was followed by a BBQ and presentations on the Golfer’s Bar Balcony, with friends and family invited to join players. The atmosphere was typically Glenelg; relaxed, enjoyable but more importantly, casual.

Tiger Experience. Former Club Champion and current Trainee Professional, Adrian Wickstein, got up close and personal with Tiger Woods whilst on assignment in Melbourne.

Adrian caddied for local professional golfer, Peter Cooke, in the Australian Masters, earning the opportunity to be inside the ropes on the practice range whilst Tiger warmed up.

According to Adrian, the renowned 3-wood stinger that Tiger is famous for lives up to its reputation. Adrian watched in awe whilst Tiger blasted 3-wood after 3-wood into the wind, dead straight, and nothing short of 250 metres.

Adrian also crossed paths with Tiger outside the Kingston Heath Clubhouse, and opted to wisely stand aside as Tiger and his entourage walked past.

State Representatives. Congratulations to Josie Hodge and Matt McGowan on their recent selections in their respective State teams for the Australian Interstate Series in Melbourne, held in September.

Josie Hodge was selected in the Women’s State Team to play at Peninsula Golf Club on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula, whilst Matt McGowan represented the State in the Colts side at Keysborough Golf Club in Melbourne’s southeast.

Both players performed well, with the Women’s team falling just short of claiming the national title.

Also, a special mention to Michael Ratajewski and Jak Carter who recently represented SA in the SA vs Victoria Junior Match at Millicent Golf Club in the state’s south east. SA successfully defended its title.

Governor’s Cup. The Governor of South Australia, His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce, visited the Club in August for the annual Legacy Governor’s Cup. The Governor is pictured left with Club Captain, Paul McGrath.

This event has been played at Glenelg every year since �949, and is the final of an annual competition involving almost 2,000 golfers from almost �00 clubs around South Australia. The event, run by Legacy, has raised over $� million in its 60 year history. The Club remains a proud supporter of Legacy by offering our facilities, free of charge, for the event.

South Coast Junior TripFleurieu Golf Club | McCracken Country Club | Links Lady BayReport by Will Carman

On Wednesday, 7th October, 12 juniors and 4 awesome parents left Glenelg Golf Club at approximately 9.15 am to arrive at the Fleurieu Golf Club at 10.30am.

We left with only one or two clouds in the sky and about 2� degrees to arrive with an overcast, windy and freezing �4 degrees.

It was a very entertaining day with a few snake sightings, one player forgetting to bring his golf shirts and with others losing so many golf balls, it resulted in walking away with only a couple left in our golf bags.

Still, some very good golf was played with Henry Duregon, Josh Hodgson, James Georgiadis and Jack Hynes taking out the day with a 7 under par ambrose score, with birdies on the last four holes. These guys had a very convincing win over everyone else; the closest group only managed 3 under par - so an easy win.

After golf, we all had some lunch and packed up and travelled to McCracken Country Club.

After checking in and other stuff was done we had dinner. After dinner (which was very good!) we all hit the pool and spa which was a lot of fun!

The next day was an 8.00am breakfast which meant a 7.30am rise

- a struggle for some of us. However, the breakfast did not disappoint anyone. A buffet breakfast does go down very nicely after �8 holes the day before and in preparation for �8 holes for some and 36 holes for others.

The course was in great condition with the morning’s best score by Michael Ratajewski with 37 points including 4 pars, 5 birdies and a lot of other good scores.

There was an optional �8 holes in the afternoon and many chose to do that.

The best score in the afternoon was Sam Raschella.

Scores were a lot better in the afternoon, which set the standard for a good day at Links Lady Bay on the Friday.

Lady Bay proved quite a challenge and the scores showed. There was one prime example of Steve Deally, who was very glad we were playing Stableford because on the �3th hole, he walked away with a �5 on the hole, which everyone found quite funny. Even with that hole, Steve managed to have a great round and finished with 34 points. This was the best score between all of us. Combined with Steve’s 36 points at McCracken, he took out the trip tournament with a combined score of 70 points.

The South Coast trip was an awesome trip and on behalf of all the juniors who attended, I would like to thank the Club, Paul Duregon, Jackie Hodgson, David Gillespie, Trevor Mullins and David Brand for the time and effort that they put into the trip. Also, thank you to all the juniors who came on the trip and made it an awesome time.

Golf SA Summer Junior Open Events

Golf SA run a series of Junior Open Events throughout the summer school

holiday season at various golf clubs around Adelaide.

As with previous years, the Glenelg Golf Club Foundation will pay entry fees

for all Juniors wanting to play in these events.

However, it remains your responsibility to collect entry forms,

fill them out and bring them into the Administration Office so that we can arrange payment prior to the closing

dates. We will not pay for late entries into events.

slow playSlow play continues to raise its ugly head on regular occasions at Glenelg, causing frustration to all those who are caught up in long rounds.

Please remember, a STABLEFORD or PAR round at Glenelg should take no longer than four hours, whilst a STROKE round will general take slightly longer on a bad day!

The low handicapper in your group has the authority to remind the group of its obligation to maintain proper position in the field.

Every person on the golf course is responsible for the pace of play. Stop blaming others and think about how you can improve your pace of play.

Let’s all aim for rounds of under 4 hours.

THERE ARE NO EXCUSES FOR SLOW PLAY.

Here are some tips for ALL members to consider when playing at Glenelg.

General EtiquetteGroups should have no more than

Shop prior to hit off.

All rounds must start from the 1st

Always allow others to join your
