It 's gru el ling, but I'd ra the r ha ve that an d havethe kind of reward it g ives m e. I 'm not p lanning ani nte rv al t his time beca use we're having a h ard enoughtim e choosing which songs to put into a two-hourshow . And I'm also breaking my three -day rule. ~ might have been a flight offancy," she smiles. So would shesay yes or no? " 1 can't answerthat question until he asks methe question."

For his birthday last year,Kylie gave Andrs a blue topazstone, while she was in Indiashooting a Bollywood movie."1 wanted him to have somethingjewellery-ish but not ostentatious.I had some string and I plaited itinto a web into which I put thestone. The stone was tiny andI knew it would be lost in the stringand that was the beauty of it. He wore it for a whileand the stone got lost. So that's the jewellery I gothim. Something precious and something from thekitchen cupboard, knowing he would lose it. And thatwas the most beautiful part." Does that still work asa metaphor for their relationship? A jewel that canget away? "No, I will make him another one. Andperhaps I will tie it in a little bit more securely. And each time I make one, 1 '1 1tie it more tightly."

It seems like this is hermost fulfilling relationshipever? "It is, strangely. He'svery normal but also fabulous."And he's not given to anydestructive moments?"Correct." Because I thinksome of her past boyfriendswere prone to that. "1 can'tpossibly disagree!" she sayswith a laugh. "l 've learntI can still be in a fulfillingrelationship. After you havea break-up you wonder, canyou do this again? And soon wewill have been together for twoyears, which has gone likethat," she says, with a click ofher fingers. "l'rn not namingany names, but I have beenattracted to complexcharacters. We're all complexon a certain level, but itdepends how much of thatcomes into your relationship. You want to do some growingand have some complexity,[otherwisel it would be boring. But years ago, before I was ill,I didn't find the balance. And

that's a lesson I've learnt, there's alot more balance than there was."

When Kylie looks back on thepast 12 months, she focuses onthe highs, never the lows. "Myalbum being No1 and, of course,my sister's baby," she says, referring to her newest nephew,Ethan - the son of her sister,Dannii. "Having a baby haschanged her. She's mellowed andgane into a zone that's very deep, and I've never seen her like thatbefore. She's still hard-nosed anddeterniined, but there's something

that's changed in her that's really beautiful to see."I find it hard to ask about her sister's baby when

Dannii was never the broody one and Kylie hasalways said she'd lave children. "No. It's lovely to seeEthan. I 1 0 0 k at him wistfully. He's a beautiful baby,I've got my auntie stripes on and I'm ready to go."

Does she think she'lI ever have babies? "Perhaps. It's not something that I d o n ' t want and perhaps it

will happen." If it doesn't, shecould always adopt. "Yes,"she says falteringly. Or havean egg donar? "l 've thoughtabout that. And I've lookedinto various options. I don'tknow if I'm going to go downany of those roads yet. ButI do need to look at whatmight be potential paths thatlead to a family. They can doincredible things now, especially in America."

Does she worry about it?Is she feeling as if part of heris missing? "No, I'm content.I was thinking about faith theother day. I'm not of anyparticular religion, but I waswondering how much itmattered what you believe. If someone told you whatyou believed was wrong, howcould it be wrong, becauseit's based on your experienceand emotions. This is the lifeI have. I can't compare it toanyone else's."@

KYL IE LOVES ...Hairstylist Kerry Warn

"He's an artist. He has a great collectionof hairpieces. I'm quite a train spotter.I have clips and pins that are the same as

his from 20 years ago."Pink Champagne"Hence my perfume, Pink Sparkle."David Koma

"1 wore one of his dresses in the video forGet Outta My Way. lt's black mesh with chains

inside. I also love Mark Fast. I wore his frock ona Paul Q'Grady show and it arrived so tiny

    I thought, ' 1 didn't arder socks?!'His dresses are unforgiving, but hot."Benefit's High Beam

"And I take my make-up off with a muslin cloth. It gives your skin a glow."Spanish food

"We went to a restaurant in Andrs' home townand I made firework noises when all these

incredible dishes came out."Summer Heights High

"lt was a precursor to Glee. I liketwisted comedies like Kath & Kim and
