Our partner Givaudan has developed a patented micro-encapsula-tion system called Spherulites® which, alongside a fascinating suc-cess story, impresses above all for its unique technology.

Spherulites® are multi-layered microspheres of surfactants that can encapsulate both water-soluble and oil-soluble actives, and can therefore serve as transporting agents in cosmetic products. This “encapsulation” technology has interesting auxiliary propeties:

Non-ionic and anionic Spherulites®, for instance, improve penetration into the skin layers, while the cationic varieties improve adhesion on the skin surface. The multi-layered encapsulation can also be exploit-ed to achieve a long-lasting action. Furthermore, Spherulites® allow sensitive actives to be stabilized.

Alongside a standard range, custom solutions can be developed in which several active ingredients are packed together into Spherulites®.
